I was thinking about getting guest of honor badges for my DH, Dad, his girlfriend, and myself for this upcoming trip. Is it a good idea? I'm sure my DH will roll his eyes and probably not want to wear it. Do they make the trip more magical? What has been your experience with them? Any CM's want to chime in on this and give us your .02?

Thanks

Have bought them for DD & niece & for them it was great. CMs could say "hello Pricess Lauren" & characters often wrote her name when they signed. As an adult, I just couldn't quite do it, but maybe next trip!

If you like being called by your first name then go for it. It doesn't get you any magical but it's fun.

We wear ours every trip and we love them! Even DH wears his - it is fun, and the kids think it's neat when the CM's call them by name!

I love mine. I wear it on my pin lanyard. I can't tell you how many times I've been stopped by WDW guests because they think I'm a cast member though. :teeth:

We were a group of 18 all ages from 2mths to 60's and we all wore them and had a great time wearing them. I preordered, through giftsoflifetime.com as we have some unusal names in our family and I did not want to wait there to have them printed.

We have names that you ever find on things pre printed, so it saved me a lot of time standing and waiting. They were a little more money, but well worth it, since I did not have to wait for them.

I've also been stopped by guests asking a question. I'll answer if I know it - it's usually "where is this attraction at?" - if I don't know I'll tell them I don't work there.

However, I've also had several cast members think I'm a CM from California DL. I have a red colored Mickey GOH badge and one CM told me it is the same color badge DL castmembers use.

Our entire family wears them and we love it. I'm going to buy my ILs and Mom one next month. They'll get a kick out of being called by their names. You forget that you are wearing it when someone calls you by your name.

they are badge that say Guest of Honor with your name on it. Alot of the shops in Disney have them made up and couple of the shops will engrave the names if they have not been pre engraved. As I stated in my previous post I have gotten mine from www.giftsofalifetime.com as we have names in our family you can't find anywhere. This way we have them when we go and none of us have to stand and wait until they are engraved. They do cost a little more this way, but to me it is worth it. I am not sure which stores do it, as I said I did not buy mine there, but I am sure someone on these boards will tell you.

A guy's perspective - my wife bought these for us for our trip in September. It added extra magic for me and my son, because they were surprise. He's 2 1/2 and loved his name tag. Though it didn't get us "s[ecial treatment" or anything inside the park, it was pretty neat to hear the CM's call my son by his first name - he couldn't figure out how they knew it! Main Street Mayor also called me by name. That was pretty neat. We enjoyed them.

God bless!

i have seen them for sale at christmas store in dtd and in mgm at store on right side of street right before you turn corner for rnrc and tot.

I visited Gifts of a Lifetime's website today because I was thinking of ordering my DD a new GOH badge - the puppy chewed on hers. :( I was disappointed that there is only one style now! In our family the guys have the red Mickey ones and we girls have blue Minnie ones. Now the only choice is red Mickey. Why couldn't the dog have chewed one of the guys' GOH badge?!?

My best moment with the pin was when I was wearing it in MK, in tommorrow land and the talking garbage can (push?) actually called me by my name while in the middle of talking to other people, he turned quickly and said hi to me by name and then went back to his conversation, I got such a kick out of that. Its a fun thing to do, if nothing else you can get a little extra interaction with the CMs.

I think I will get them for the trip this December. If they don't want to wear them that's fine - I'll wear mine!

They used to have badge choices? What were the other choices? Just red Mickey and blue Minnie? Are they still available in the parks?

I'm really getting excited about this trip - look at my counter!

We love ours and I even bought them for the grandparents for our next trip! We have had lots of great experiences, sweet ones and funny ones, and "Wes Palm" at AK talked to the girls for a very long time about their unusual names!

Disney made the switch to only the red Mickey's. I remember way back when there were other characters available as well. I did find another option for the girls though. Check out the Laughing Place Store. They have Princess badges that you can have engraved. I got one for my DD and she loves it. It does come from Disneyland, but the only place it states that is on the back of the badge. Here is the direct link if anyone is interested, Princess Badge

CM's do address you by name and we found a little more attention....also, Minnie signed my son's autograph book: To Ryan, Love Minnie Mouse.....he loved the fact she knew his name! (I think he forgot he was wearing his GOH badge!)

My husband and I wore ours on our last trip and CM's called us by name. That was nice.. The only drawback was people stopping us and asking us questions. Some people have no problem with that but, by the fifth time it started to get annoying.:sad2:

On our first trip there were four styles available, so I got one of each. I'm Pooh (blue), DH is Tigger (green), DS is Mickey (red), and DD is Minnie (navy blue). I guard these carefully now that we cannot replace three of the styles again!

You get called by your first name, the characters use it on the autographs sometimes, and people tend to think you are some kind of bigshot. Both trips we've been asked why we got to be guests of honor by some curious guest in line. No one has ever mistaken us for CMs, though, probably because it is always all four of us together, all wearing the badges.
