Guest in your bathroom???

I do not have requests for how our guests use the bathroom with the exception of "please put the lid down when you're done," but that's because if the lid is left up, our cats will all drink out of the toilet bowl...which is disgusting. Whenever I explain why we'd prefer that they put the lid down after they're done, the person always says something like, "Ew, they drink out of the toilet?" And then they can picture in their heads the cat standing on the toilet SEAT while drinking out of the potty....that same toilet seat which their rear end sits on. It usually does the trick, haha.

Like this? :)

No requests for guest, heck I can't get hubby to put the seat down. I grew up with 5 older brothers but my Mom was pretty strict about putting both seats down so they are pretty good about it. Hubby says he goes to the bathroom so much it's not worth putting down, like it takes a whole lot of effort. I have great fun putting it down at night when I know he is going to stagger in early in the morning and not know if I've been in there or not. He has had to clean a few toilet seats so knows most of the time to check. I put both seats down, I hate seeing the inside of a toilet.

Just my wife and I at home now with 3 bathrooms, so while we share the master bath about half the time, she has taken over what was the kids bathroom about the other half the time. But never had her complain about the seat being up or down. And for nearly 40 years cleaning the bathrooms have been my task.

My grandparents house was always full of guests, my mom had 4 siblings and during the summer especially , there was always family members coming and going.

My grandmother had a sign like this this in the bathroom.

My grandpa had a big arrow on the wall outside his basement bathroom and on it were large stickers that said 4 U 2 P

One of my husband's friends is really bathroom-inconsiderate (leaves seats up, gets his pee all over the toilet), so it's my husband's job to clean the guest bathroom :D But I'm used to constantly having to lower the seats when people come over. I don't understand how hard it is to just leave something the way you found it!

I've been having a new issue though where people insist on closing the bathroom doors after they leave the bathroom. What is that??? It's not just one guest who does that--it's multiple! If they're trying to hide poo smells, closing the door is the worst way to do that! Lol

This bugs me as well. Especially when you have a lot of guests. Most people assume a closed bathroom door means there is someone in there, so people wind up waiting when really it’s available.

As a lady, sitting and putting the seat down aren't really issues for me so I'd be fine with the sign. I'd never put one in my own house. I do sometimes wonder though what is wrong with men that pee all over the floor - do they not realize it or are they just disgusting pigs?

As a man - slash - alien, I RAISE the seat to pee so as not to get any splashback on the seat itself and LOWER the seat to go number two. I always clean up anything afterwards diligently. I also make sure that the seat it DOWN when I flush. I also don't understand people who pee all over the floor/sink/ceiling.

We entertain quite a bit and raised 4 kids that brought all of their teammates, shipmates, battle buddies, etc to our house. Even though they are all out of the nest, they still bring gaggles over for dinner and shenanigans.

We've always had a powder room, it's actually a full bath but shower/tub is never used, in the common area of our houses. It's adjacent to the kitchen and great room. We have 3 other BR's...and when we have company, I use mine upstairs. hahaha. Have never thought about putting up a sign. LOL I'm a clean freak. So that BR is always getting the Clorox wipe down even when it's just hubby and I. If I put a sign up for all the men that come to visit, to sit down when they pee...hahahaha...it would probably go viral on someone's snapchat.

Wow, I sure hope if there are smells that they turn on the vent fan or open the window and close the door. I don't want to smell that throughout the entire house!!!

I've got a sign: "Sprinkles are for donuts, and this isn't a kitchen! Wipe the seat and quit yer b****in'! "

That should prevent any legal litigations.

Also separate bathroom for guests is a plus.
We have a powder room on the main floor, which is where all our public space is. It's used almost exclusively by company and if they're not staying overnight, they never get upstairs to where the other bathrooms are.

I am not a big fan of letting some people in my bathroom. My brother in-law seems to have an issue of "skid-marking" the toilet seat. This is why I always direct him to the hallway bathroom instead (my step-daughter's bathroom). She gets so mad :rotfl2:

Exactly!!! And then they ask where MY bathroom is! Nope nope nope~

🤮

Get a little vinyl sticker for the underside of the toilet seat that says If the bowl isn't a target you can hit, please be kind and just sit.

Our old dog (RIP) used to drink out of the toilet. Yuck. DH installed "soft close" toilet seats. We just do a gentle touch and the lid closes. Keeps the dog out and the toilet is always closed. I am in the habit of always closing the lid even at someone else's house. I get the overspray thing. My nephews are THE WORST!!! It was during their teenage years. I swear a firehose went off in the bathroom. I was livid. Made them clean it up. There's just some things....

That type of disgusting and disrespectful behavior would be addressed directly in my family. If it happened more than once (unless there was an excusable medical issue for not being able to clean it), it would be called out even if others were around.

I don't know how/why he does this... It is like an every time he goes in there occurrence. My step-daughter HAS called him out on it, yet he says "I'm sorry", but continues to do that. He does it in his own home too, so he is not just doing it here.

I WISH I was joking about this.
