Guess What I Was Just Told?i Have The Long Awaited Disney Perk,WE GET THE AP AND PAP

Good for DVC...I'm impressed!

A discount on the AP is the only discount that provides a win for both Disney and DVC members. Discounting park hoppers just doesn't make much business sense. I understand that some members may be disappointed in that...but it's just the facts. We're PHP buyers...but no bitterness here. Disney does not give away money just because they like us. :)

I hope to be in a situation to use the APs one of these days (DH will always want park hoppers because he doesn't like to go to the parks every day). However, we like to split our visits into two 5-night weeks per year...usually with one of them at HH or Vero. So, it probably won't make sense for us unless we change our vacation plan. Maybe in 2006!

As far as personal situations and the ability to use DVC and its perks to the fullest go...
I don't know anyone who would say that their life is perfect in every way. I have chosen to be a stay at home mom and raise three kids. My life (and my bank account) would be very different if I'd chosen to stay in corporate America and only had one child. Not bad (I hope), but different. Everyone has choices to make every day that affect their life. We live in a free country. If anyone isn't happy with the way life is going, they can change it by making different choices in the future.

I'm in love! (but don't tell Mrs. Tomorrow  ).

Just thought of something....

If they offered a discount on both APs and PHs, then the breakeven money-saving would be equaled again. I do not forsee them doing both. Then the APs would still not be a savings over the PHs...again.

I'm going to assume that many more DVCrs requested AP discounts than PH discounts.

Majority rules? I'm glad DVC listened.

I personally cannot take advantage of an AP bc like others we can go only once a year. But I am happy for those who can!:D

Maybe in the future I can accomodate my circumstance to be able to take advantage of an AP.

Something that would help to make a decision in my case is where I can find a list of the discounts associated with an AP?

Umm, this is OUTSTANDING news.... I'm very disappointed that we won't be able to take advantage this year as we are going in December, but for future years, I am thrilled!!! We'll actually be able to go back & buy AP's from now on... the last two years we've been limping by an a park hopper & doing other things instead... this is just HUGE.....

Thanks DVC!!!

I just called MS. I was told that the discounts apply to all newly purchased tickets. I was told they can be purchased from the DVC website or from Guest relations at the parks.

OK, but are they holding fast and and true to the supposed January 2 start date?

I was told it was for new purchases "next year." I don't know if this means Jan. 1 or 2.

...and, what about limitations on the number of passes....and, do they come with the same bells and whistles as a normal annual pass, like other resort discounts, World of Disney discount, no blackout dates.......

I only asked for some basic information. I just purchased APs for my Jan. trip and wanted to know how the new discount would affect me (yes I'm selfish). Maybe somone else can call MS for more details. I'm on hold with WDW Ticketing now.

Good news!! Any kind of added perk is GOOD...even if only one member gets to take advantage. And although I will not be using this perk...I am so happy for those who will be.
And my 2 cents worth.... none of us has any right to complain about DVC discounts, no one put a gun to our head and MADE us buy it. It was a choice we all made, and a choice we can unmake if we are unhappy or feel that the program does not work out that well for our circumstances. It is a want, not a necessity of life.

Getting the giggles here----

just think, if there is this kind of controversy over Disney ADDING a perk to DVC, I can just imagine what kind of brouhaha there must have been when Disney STOPPED giving free park admission to DVCers a few years ago.....:teeth:

Anyone else laughing with me?:jester:

I'm really excited about this offer!! It puts an AP in range of possibility for us. We plan to do one larger trip every 1-2 years spending approx. 6 days in the parks.

For our next trip I need to decide if we will use this wonderful offer!! Hummm! 7 day PHP from Hotwire for $303(a little hassle but days never expire) OR and AP for $303 (allows greater flexibility and possibility for cheap return trips) We were really only planning 6 days in the parks and 2 resort days, so that really works out to $150 more for our family just considering park admission for this trip. Decisions, decisions.

Thank-you DVC for this option!!

Just renewed our passes but can anyone tell me 1) what discount is given on a renewal and 2) does an associate member receive the same discounts?

Sorry if this has alerady been answerer

Just tried to pull up DVC website. It is down. :scratchin

Being mad about the possible new perk is like being mad that somebody is getting a good deal on something you weren't planning on buying anyway. Doesn't quite make sense. I can safely bet the majority of DVC owners are going to be thrilled. I know I am.

Ya know, I haven't been able to do many of the DVC special events either, go to the annual meetings, use all the perks that have been offered. But, I don't feel upset about it.

For instance, the member cruise. Sure, we can't go. It is when the kids are in school. But, the cruise is during hurricane season and when kids are back in school, thus the ability for DVC to get the boat. It isn't a busy time for the cruise. Yet, lots of DVC members are going anyway and paying a hefty price for it I might add. Good for them. I hope they have a great time, I just won't be onboard. Might have been nice, but I'm not losing sleep over it. And I don't think the world is out to get me because of it.

I've said this on another board, it is really a win win situation. I can't believe DVC hasn't done this sooner. I would think people will start buying more points and the parks will benefit cause we'll be spending more money in the parks, instead of maybe going to SeaWorld, Universal, etc. instead. Same with the park restaurants, too.

My only worry is the restrictions on the new perk. I really hope it isn't a set year to year thing, like January thru end of December type of thing. I highly doubt it will be, but ya never know... I also hope it retains the usual AP discounts.

We can take advantage of it next year - since we're going next week!!!

So, for this trip, what's the DVC price for UPH?
And does the UPH include DisneyQuest?

Thanks! And let's wait for official printed word from TPTB about the DVC discount on AP's and PAP's. Everyone have a great Disney day .... here's pixiedust coming everyone's way ........
