Guess What I Was Just Told?i Have The Long Awaited Disney Perk,WE GET THE AP AND PAP

I didn't read the entire thread but I wonder if the LOS pass is going away, I'd suspect so.

Based on this board's population, it probably would but there are thousands more families out there who don't obsess about DVC and are bad at math. It might be in Disney's best interest to leave it since it don't cost anything to do so.

YIPPEEEE!!!!

We have 13 days and 3 trips planned for 2005, so I, for one, am thrilled!!! Yes, Disney isn't dumb---they will get us in the park more often. To compare, last August we were there for 6 days and only did 2 park days---the rest were spent at DD, resort pools and off-site.

It would only make sense for us though if it included the minor kiddos (especially since 2 get charged adult rates)! Hope someone is listening.....

Dr. P: (and I mean this in a nice way)--you sound a bit soured on WDW right now. Have you considered taking your family to the HH resort? No passes to worry about, and HH is a wonderful place too. Just a thought....

UHHHH....I'm not soured on WDW in the least. Put yourself in my shoes and I suspect you would be more than mildly upset, too. Life is short, but it gets even shorter when you are taken for granted.

I don't think "my way or the highway" is very productive, nor does it lend to good human relations. I cringe every time a board discussion turns to "if you don't like, you can leave" or "life isn't fair, deal with it." Change comes from people standing up for themselves and what they believe in. Ironically, that is part of the reason why this perk might become a reality in the first place.

While I agree that change comes from people standing up for themselves, I personally only stand up for myself when it really matters. If I had to stand up for myself everytime the littlest thing didn't go my way, I wouldn't have time to do anything else. A DVC perk, IMO, is a "little" thing in the grand scheme of things. We were not promised any perks. Nobody is obligated to give us any perks. In essence, they are giving this to us. I won't be taking advantage of it myself, but I am not going to cry over it.

I agree with what someone else posted. You sound very disenchanted with Disney/DVC. You may want to consider a break from WDW for awhile. Absence may make the heart grow fonder.

Please guys I am asking one more time to stop all the bicker or I will have it Closed.

Wow - this will be great !!!! Thanks for posting the heads-up, luvindisneyworld !!!

But, just when I thought I was all done making decisions . . . bought my AP the other day for Dec. trip . . . now I need to decide should I hold onto the voucher until Jan trip, using old PHP days for this trip (only 3 days) and upgrade it to PAP in January - then I'd have PAP for October trip . . . and then I could always think about another birthday trip the following Jan before it expires. Hey - they are pretty smart with this AP thing - I'm already trying to squeeze in an extra long-weekend trip!:smooth:

I'm off to do the math !;)

It's funny that you would bring up the life is short comment.

When I was diagnosed with stage four cancer nearly 14 years ago, a new life motto became part of me: life is too short to make the other person miserable.

You also mentioned the election earlier. Do you think at the end of the day John Edwards was able to put the VP loss into perspective? The AP discount isn't life or death. Try to count the blessings you do have in life, it's much more pleasant, and gratifying.

OK, someone double-check me on this (I know that no one really knows "exactly" or "for sure"), but if I take my AP voucher that I just bought for $403.64 and upgrade it to a PAP in January and get the $125.00 discount ($531.46 - $125.00), the final cost of the PAP would only be $406.46 ??? Since I doubt they'll give the discount on an already purchased AP, this seems like a no-brainer in my case, yes?

I bet you will be able to upgrade since the ticket you want to purchase will cost more. Even if it is by a few dollars.

So a PAP with the discount would be less than a 10-day UPH?? :hyper: And the next time would be dues, airfare, food, and transportation between MCO and WDW? In that case, they've got my attention, and ammo to convince DH to plan a trip to the world over our kids' spring break 2006 in addition to our 10-day over Thanksgiving 2005! Gotta make the most of that!

No matter what Disney does not everyone is happy. This thread is too funny. "Members who don't buy APs are screwed" WHY? Disney isn't MAKING anyone do anything. A perk is a benefit you can chose to take advantage of or not. It is your choice If this is true you will have TWO discount options on your tickets. That would be better than nothing which is all you are actually entitled to.

You bought a place to sleep, as long as you get that Disney has lived up to the deal you made. Anything else is gravy!

Exactly, complaining that this is not fair to all is like saying the "big" sale at Macy's is not fair because I can't be there since I live in Florida.

They did not take something away to make this happen. I will be interested in knowing the limitations. I agree I am sure they will limit how many you can buy.

...I am darn sick of being told "my way or the highway," and this unfortunately has been driven and supported by the current administration. It was brought to the head for me in the last twenty-four hours by the appointment of Condi Rice as Sec. of State since she has been the major proponent of this attitude toward foreign policy in the Bush administration.
I think it may have been helpful if you had originally disclosed the above information back on page 3 (wouldn't have been nearly as entertaining though).

Your vitriol might find a more receptive and appropriate audience on the boards of Democratic Underground or maybe at a PEST group therapy session.

Regardless, I have to thank you for helping to create this page-turner of a thread. Well done.

Thank you for the post! Would be wonderful news if it comes to fruition.

I'm not sure we could take advantage of the offer though...mainly because traveling from Hawaii to WDW is quite the ordeal for multiple trips...maybe we'll just have to extend the time of our annual trip :)

There are many events that we don't participate in such as the member cruise, member homecoming, etc. because the timing isn't right for our family and the traveling involved too much. Maybe I'm just naive but I've never felt slighted or any less of a DVC member because the events didn't jive with my schedule.

I look forward to the day that I can attend member events and purchase an AP...hopefully with a DVC discount :teeth:

Actually, it makes sense that DVC would offer discounts on AP over other media type. While they do want to make the owners feel valued and appreciated, the real reason for discounts is to increase sales or sell something that would go unsold. In the case of AP, they cause people to take additional trips that they wouldn't otherwise. "Honey, you know those annual passes are still valid - our admission would be free - couldn't we make another trip (or two or more) before they expire?" Hey, it worked with me. I bought annual passes one year to get discounts on the room. I wasn't originally planning on going again for a few more years, but decided to go again the next year before they expired.

And the people going on the second (or third) trip realize they don't have quite enough points for all their stays. Hence the call to their guides to buy those add-on points.

Disney added the perk because they thought it would increase their bottom line and make many owners happy. While giving big discounts on all ticket media might make more owners happy, it might not increase their bottom line. And after all Disney is a company in business to make money.

Can anyone tell me where I can find the current price of AP and PAP?

Thank you

Yipeee!! Just in time for our visit! I was always suspicious of the breakeven point for the UMP since those that listed 8 days never seemed to take into account the DVC discount. Anyway, an AP discount suits me just fine.

I can empathise with Doctor P's frustration on another perk that he can't use. I would have been happy with a discount that was lower than advance purchase tickets. Who knows, maybe that's in there too!

Before everyone gets too excited, we need to find out details on how this is going to work. How many can you buy, where do you buy them, are they vouchers that you redeem when you get to the park.

I don't think they will eliminate the discount on the UPH. That's a money maker for them. The DVC discount barely covers the advance purchase discount.

I think this is a great perk , no i won't always be able to take advantage of it, but some years i will and hey i didn't even know about the other perks to the AP like 40% discount etc.
Dr P ,not flaming but i don't understand some of your points, firstly i live in the UK and so can't travel to wdw as often as some, but i'm lucky to get there at all, when i am there i can pool hop is there some reason why you can't ? also i was invited on the member cruise, unfortunately i used all my points and the dates weren't good but in another year or two when i resave my points and juggle my dates i may be able to get on it, if not i'll cruise a different time and i'm sure there will still be members aboard - are you banned from doing the same ? , i can't always travel at the best dates for points but i work round it and always have a great time. Yes it would be great to have other perks i.e discounts off uph's don't we already get 10% ? and i believe we get money off day passes to parks and disneyquest etc. no one is saying for one minute you don't work hard but don't we all ?? not many of us if any didn't have to save and work hard to provide this great vacation plan for us and our families. Pigs - well frankly that's just offensive to everyone , name calling is not necessary, new secretary of state - what does that have to do with DVC this is not a political issue unless in the white house they debate what discounts us piggy members get ??? I for one look forward to finding out exactly what the perk will be when we get the winter clubhouse, and am thrilled for everyone who can use it, i can't but hey that's my problem not anyone elses.
