Grumpy and his wife and possibly the DIS Food Porn Queen are going to Disney

I'm so glad your #1 thing to do is to get a slushie! :rotfl: They are SO good!

One of my favorite things in all of WDW is Maelstrom so you have to do that! And the Gran Fiesta tour is fun also, I love the Mexico pavillion!

There is a lot I haven't done in WS either, which is why I love it so much!

Thank you, Jen. The slushie will be a FIRST for me...I've never had one.

Well, I was going to say get a GG Slushie, but you already have that covered, so instead maybe you could stop by the Tequila Bar in Mexico for one of their wonderfully unique margaritas :thumbsup2

I forgot about the new Tequila Bar (and I just read Katie's review of it too). That is definitely going on the list.

Have you heard Voices of Liberty?

Yes, Glenn, we have and they are spectacular. They will be added to the list. Thank you.

First of all, my thoughts are with you for Mark's surgery Friday morning.:goodvibes No doubt you will find your caffeine fix somewhere.

I wish I could be specific about World Showcase but I just absolutely LOVE it there. One thing we got to do on our last trip and might not be able to do again for awhile was walk through WS right at 11, when it first starts to open. There was no one around and I got some great pictures and I felt so special, having the entire place to myself. Well, my Mark was there, too..:rotfl:

Thanks, Tina. Now that it is here, I am getting a wee bit nervous about it. And I checked Starbucks...they open at 5:30 a.m. so if we are there promptly at 5:30 a.m., we can get my coffee and make it to the hospital by 6 a.m.

Oh wait, I have to say that the slushies in France are delicious! As are the Napoleons in the bakery. Best use of a snack credit!

Mark will like the sound of that Napoleon.

Kathy, I wanted to let you know that Joe and I will be thinking of you and Mark on Friday.

As for WS...........

Besides pick a pearl, which we did for the first time last year, I just love the school bread in Norway. It's something that I must have each trip. ;) As for something that is a must do (and not a must have :lmao:), it's Maelstrom. As cheesy as it is, I love it!

Thanks to you and Joe, Sophia.

Mark thought the school bread was "okay" -- he wasn't crazy about it (I don't like coconut so I don't eat it). I love Maelstrom too -- it's going on the list.

I tried a Grand Slushie this year and it was good. I'm not a big fan of anything that tastes like alcohol and this was a good drink for somebody like me.

You should stop in each of the World Showcase countries and buy a small packaged snack. Then, when you sit down to watch Illuminations, you can have a picnic and try all the different things you purchased. We did that once and it was a fun way to sample the snacks from different countries.

Lisa, I love this idea. But we won't be staying for Illuminations because it is our only night to go to Downtown Disney. But I think I'll take your suggestion and get a snack from each country and take it with us to Marco Island and we can have a picnic on the beach. :thumbsup2

Well, shoot, I must have missed the part about ya'll not watching Illuminations. Like you said, you could still buy the snacks and take them with you to eat later on. It'll remind you of Disney.

Day 3, Part 2--Monday, September 20

World Showcase at Epcot:

Our top three things to do:

1. Try a Grand Slushie
2. Catch the street show in Italy
3. See the film in France

Okay, I have to admit, Mark and I have not tried a lot of the snacks around World Showcase, picked a pearl, etc. So I need ideas from all of you of things we should not miss in World Showcase.
No beer in GERMANY???? :confused3

Ever see the drummers in China?

Ever sit down, relax, and people watch? WS is good for that. There are a lot of 'characters' there... aka drunks! :lmao:

Okay for snax at The Patissiere my Fav is the Raspberry Schuss !

Also the Candy Lady is awesome and of course Maehlstrom and the 3 Cabelleros !!!

Yes, definitely a beer for Grumpy in Germany (we're eating at Biergarten...so it may be one very LARGE beer!). We have seen the drummers. But, Tim, they are in Japan, not China (China has the acrobats). :)

Raspberry Schuss? Exactly what is that? It sounds interesting.

Keep the ideas coming, guys.

Woops! Sorry about that! You are right about the drummers! :goodvibes

I showed Melody the menu for Biergarten but she wasn't too impressed. I think it is because she has slimmed her diet down now that she is prego. I would be eating & drinking my face off! :lmao:

We got Mickey Mail today.

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

:dancer::dancer:
I'll have something I want to mail and then forget about it. Thankfully, I pay all the bills online now or I'd be in big trouble. ;)

me too. Big time. Is a real problem if you change email addresses though.

Monday, September 20 -- Epcot. This is the only day we have at Epcot this trip so we have to get as much done as we can in 10 hours or so.

Part 1 -- Future World

Our three must do's:

Soarin'
The Land
Nemo and Friends

So what is your ONE must do in Future World (note that we cannot do Mission: Space...although I wouldn't do it anyway, and Test Track is out for Mark...I may or may not do single rider line)

As always, thanks for your suggestions.

Given that it will still be there, I would say...Captain EO!

I detest D&D. If Starbucks is not open, I guess I'll get a cappucino at McDonald's (ugh!).

I detest D&D as well but refuse to try any McCafe. The hospital may have Starbucks, many of them do. I sure sold it to a lot of them when I was in that business!

I vote for the apple tart from the bakery (not the turnover)

:cloud9:

I forgot about the new Tequila Bar (and I just read Katie's review of it too). That is definitely going on the list.

The Classica Margarita from the new Tequila bar was quite tasty!

I second Pick a Pearl in WS, its so much fun :teeth: and also eating/drinking something from every country :teeth:

Thank you, Mary Ellen. They just called him in to prep him -- IV, etc. I'll join him in ten minutes until they are ready to take him to operating room.

Kathy,

Thinking of you and Mark this morning.

Sophia

Thank you, friend.

Keeping you guys in my thoughts and hope everything goes well today!

Thank you, Theresa.

I will post results when I can.

I'll write more later. However, surgery went well--no blockage and Mark is going home later today (after lunch sometime). Thank you for all the prayers and good wishes.

Thanks for the update! I was just wondering how things went. Looks like all our prayers were answered. I'll continue to pray for his recovery.
