Grocery shopping on-site?

We will be staying at the Villas at WL in December 2006. I hear there is a convenience store on-site. How large is their selection? Milk, bread, meat, hot dogs???

We are trying to decide if we need to make a trip to a grocery store. I hate to rent a car just to get groceries.

Would appreciate feeback.

It's not really a convenience store. There's a small area at the back of the Mercantile (gift shop) that has a very limited supply of groceries. You'll find milk, bread and eggs, not sure about hot dogs. There are a few Lean Cuisine-type entrees that you can microwave, and lots of different kinds of soda, juice, water and beer. Oh, and a couple different kinds of Entenmann's bakery items. Cookies, snack stuff, too.

If you want other items, you can try one of the grocery shopping/delivery services like WeGoShop.com.

If the store at WL is comprable to the one at Fort Wilderness, there are hot dogs; however, as already stated, the selection is very limited. What you might look into is your transportation to the park. There is a service that includes a 30 minute stop at a grocery store. I can't remember the name of it, but someone else can help with that.

We were at the BC back in June and the gift shop does have a small grocery store in the rear. The grocery supplies there are limited (much like a White Hen Pantry) and they were very expensive (about 3 times the price of a regular grocery store). We did rent a car for a day while we were there and went to Sea World one day and Super Wal-Mart on the way home to stock up on supplies (bottled water is a must and VERY cheap at Wal-Mart). We are going to the BC again in Feb., but we are ordering groceries via the internet before we head down from wegoshop.com. They will deliver your groceries to your resort for you for a minimal charge.

P.S. The car service that will pick you up at the Airport and stop at a grocery store on the way to your hotel is quick silver. You can find them at quick silver dot com.

We stayed at WL Villas last year and used the WeGoShop service. It was great. I put in our order on-line and they delivered it to us on the day we arrived. We had breakfast in our willa every morning, snacks and beverages. It worked out really well for us.

Thank you very much for the feedback. Where to they deliver? To your room or shipping/receiving at the hotel? If not to your room, was your hotel able to keep the necessary items cold?

I scheduled delivery for 4pm when I knew we would be in our room, so I didn't have to worry about storing our things - I had ordered some ice cream, milk and yogurt. Once they arrived (they were a little bit late) we just put away the perishables and took off to the parks! If you need delivery sooner they probably can do that, I think you just need to be there to pay for it and then ask the front desk to hold your groceries until your room is available.
