We are going to Universal for the very first time in January. We have been to Disney World 6 times and the highlight of the trip are the the great restaurants we go to. We LOVE the character meals and hope that Universal/IOA have great restaurants too.

Can you please tell me some really good fun and great restaurants my mom(65 yrs old) and 6 year old son will like.

Thanks so much!!!

Are you looking for counter service or table service?

A good table service restaurant that appeals to all ages would like would be Margaritaville. I haven't been to Bubba Gump's, but I've heard good things about it and it looks like it would appeal to any age.

Counter service in US, we love Cafe La Bamba, there are lots more good choices at IOA, we haven't tried Thunder Falls Terrace or the Enchanted Oak, but we've heard lots of good stuff about both. We like Burger Digs, Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoopendus, and Captain America's Diner.

If you want a character meal, you should do the character breakfast at Confisco's which is in IOA. Here is a link with more info...

We did this back in January and our 7 year old son loved it. We went on a Friday morning and it was not crowded at all. There were only about 6 or 7 other families there at that time. That meant that the characters were able to spend a little more time with us. Spiderman sat and talked with our son for about 5 minutes or more. And we got pictures with Cat in the Hat, and Thing 1 and Thing 2. It was fun! I think grandma would enjoy it too!!

And the food was good too. Just your typical breakfast buffet food like eggs, bacon, sausage links, pancakes, french toast, croissants, etc. But it was good!

Also, the on-site hotels have some character dining experiences in the evenings. Hard Rock Hotel, Royal Pacific and Portofino Bay are the 3 on-site hotels. Check out this link for more info...

After you click on a hotel, click on the dining option and you will find more info about character dining.

Hope that helps!!!
You guys are gonna have a blast!!
