Great--Now I'm Truly Getting Sick

I've been off work for almost a week already because DS (11) got sick last Friday. Sore throat, high fevers, congestion. It was either influenza or a virus. Most of the time I was home with him, I felt run down. I kept thinking "Hey, I've been home for 4 days, I should be feeling great." I also wasn't sleeping well.

Then I started having bladder problems. Not sure yet if it is an infection but I was given meds that I've determined don't agree with me (took one dose this morning). I'm more thinking I have overactive bladder versus an infection. Anyway, I digress and there is a whole other thread on this issue!! During the past 3 days, my throat has been "burning." Not scratchy, just burning feeling. Even this morning. And as I said, I took the first dose of the bladder infection medicine (Macrobid) this morning. About 3 hours after that dose, I got a very rapid heart rate (135-140). I was able to get it down with a beta blocker and I seem to be okay so far. About an hour after that, the "burning" throat I had has turned into a "OUCH, this throat HURTS" sore throat. It is not swollen, just red (just like my son's was  ). I don't have a fever but I am at 99.2. Methinks, trouble is a brewin' :sad2: . I haven't been truly sick and years and, well, I'm being a wimp now. I don't want to get sick.

And also, my hypochondriac side is terrified that the one dose of Macrobid has done this to me--even though I *know* in my head that this was sort of coming on for a few days. Of course, the Macrobid insert says to RUN TO THE ER if you have a fever, chills, cough, etc.

Someone help me. :bitelip:

If you were to have an allergic reaction from the Med, and it were severe- it happens within minutes of taking the med. Not hours later. Now, if the med doesn't agree w/ you. Then there is quite a few others you can take for a UTI or Bladder problem. I'd call my doctor about that.

As for the symptoms. I'm thinking your getting what your ds had. Pretty good chance. Those cold and flu viruses are so easy to catch.

I keep telling myself that but the medicine is an extended release capsule, so it keeps releasing the drug for a 12 hour period.
