I'm trying to do my stupid grammar homework, but I can't figure out if I should or should not put a comma in this sentence.

(The chapter is on complex sentences, btw)

We are to combine the two sentences to make a complex sentence, using a relative pronoun.

Steroids can enhance your ability in sports. They are dangerous to your body and mind.

_______

'That' is my relative pronoun. So here's my question, do I put a comma between the sentences when I combine them? Which one is right?

1. Steroids that can enhance your ability in sports are dangerous to your body and mind.

OR

2. Steroids that can enhance your ability in sports, are dangerous to your body and mind.

I feel like an idiot, btw.

Thank you. I figured, but I'm kind of a comma-lover so I stick them everywhere and anywhere.

:)

two is wrong wrong wrong wrong. that's a superfluous comma. = instant f in some classes.

(i'm a bit of a grammar freak. i'm a news editor for my school's paper, so i check for grammatical errors in multiple situations on a daily basis. )

I hate grammar and suprised I knew it was #1.
I put commas everywhere.

I'm doing this editing competition and very scared.
My writing teacher even says my commas drive her up the wall. Lol.

I love spelling though. I'm a spelling geek.

commas are difficult. there are eleven comma rules, which are usually thrown at students all at once.

Oh jenny. I dont know! Sorry, no help to you. I'm a science and math kinda girl.

I know that in some courses that my friends take you can fail for having too many incorrect commas. I'm going to fail that...I like to use commas everywhere.

I correct spelling on my friends all the time. They don't like it. Lol.
If I don't know how to spell something, I have to look it up because I won't just guess.

We didn't learn the rules in journalism this year. I have most problems in my poetry than in actual articles or papers. The way it's set up, I have a hard time understanding where to put the commas.

Yep. I either look up the word or just don't use it, period.

I'm doing complex sentences too.

if you're writing poetry, you can put commas where ever you want.

commas are also sometimes ignored in journalism, due to working for a character count. (this is the same reason that you would write 100 instead of "one hundred")

Hm.
Maybe I thought they were wrong because my teacher said she didn't understand why I was putting them there.

Yeah. See, I wouldn't have put the comma after journalism in that sentence you just wrote. They get me all confused. I need to work on that.
