Gramma jinxed disney on spring break! PARTING THOUGHTS 06/15/09

r u talking about me.:goodvibes

great update, not sure i would like the pressed meat either, gyro meat is the only pressed meat that is good.

I AM talking about you! Thanks - I think I like pressed gyro meat, too - I was probably eating Doritos in the 80's ;) (not really)

I would just like to say, not that I know 1st hand, but I have heard peace, love and crabs do NOT go together (well, maybe the love and crabs, but once they're together they'll be no peace left!).;)

:worship::worship::worship: I was laughing out loud!

And I have never had a gyro with shredded meat! they always serve it with the pressed lamb/beef around here- I guess west coast Greeks cook differently than east coast Greeks!

I thought you said "West Coast Geeks" :rotfl2: Actually, I am probably remembering it wrong - I bet it was pressed beef. It has been a really long time. :hippie:

Are you sure? Cause wasn't this in the 80's when you were eating Doritos??? :rotfl2:

No, actually it was in the 90's after the Doritos bag was EMPTY, KARA JEAN! And they were NOT my critters, just to be clear!!!

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

LOLLLLLLLL!:lmao:

:rotfl:That was us too, walking right past the crowded Bus Stop at CSR and smiling as we hopped in the van! :rolleyes1

It has just been ridiculously busy this spring. It doesn't sound like the waits were too horrible though.

Yeah I am big on the thrill rides, but I have only gone green on this one, never orange.
I don't do gravitron that well.

Yes, it was a whole lot of fun, I have to admit!
I was skeptical......and I was WRONG!;)

Hey don't laugh at me....but I never realized it was just California until like the second or third time I rode it. I thought it was supposed to be places all over the US, and I didn't even catch that the castle was strange ( uhh...as in Sleeping Beauty Castle not Cinderella Castle) until a few rides in. I thought the film made it look squatty. :confused3:rotfl2:

Ask for Gate B, row 1. You might have to wait one more round, but they will accomodate you. One tip, just don't look too far up or you can see the top of the screen where it ends. That might be just as distracting as feet.

(Ok...maybe not...lol)

Oh the horror! That's one ride I don't think I'd like to get stuck on...unless you were still out front by the volcano and you could watch the folks eat!

Ugh. I'm with you. Not my cup of tea.:confused3

Can't wait to hear more!:thumbsup2

Hi Jen! The lines weren't that long - we used TGM and hit the un-busy parks - worked out well, except for DHS.

You'll see - our jinx goes on and on - got to be pretty funny. Gate B row 1 - I'll have to remember!:thumbsup2
Thanks for reading!

Good morning. I'm sorry everyone - I posted an update last night, only to have my computer freeze up and I had to get to bed.

This morning I tried to do a quick redo, and suddenly the DIS disappeared. :confused3 We are leaving for Vegas this am, so I can't spend any more time on it. Have a great week, I'll be back on Sunday night!

:rotfl2:Our "budget room" was a jinx, but otherwise it was great! Note to self: Don't stay at Tropicana!:goodvibes

OMG! Wendy did our early bird training in front of 4000 people! She is fantastic! I would have talked to her personally had I known we had a mutual friend - there were 8000 of us there for the whole conference!

Okay, I promise I'll be back tomorrow night with lots of posts, if the computer and the "creek don't rise" as some of our WL neighbors might say. Jim is leaving for 3 mo tomorrow, so I should finish getting him packed and spend some time with him. Good night.

Dan is going to post a pic of the fabulous prize he won for the trivia contest:goodvibes

Glad you had an enjoyable time in Loss Wages LOL

Dan lets go.. picture time man! Were all a waiting.....

Okay, delays over - on with the trip! I'll post a quick run-down of our Vegas trip, then the rest of Epcot next.

Just a note about our Vegas trip. Our convention was fantastic - it was held at the MGM Grand! We always get new products to cheer about - this time it was all about the "age spot removal system" - I am excited to use that!:yay:

Jim wanting to avoid crowds and finding a deal at the "newly refurbished" Tropicana across the street convinced me we should save $500. Now I am willing to walk across the street a few times for $500. Fine. But the hotel was horrible! The room was clean, so I put up with it, but not again. Did I say it already? Don't stay at the Tropicana. The hallway was filthy, the wallpaper was pealing off the walls in the hall, and ceiling tiles were missing or falling off. I couldn't get any water pressure in the sink, but the shower was okay. We were offered an upgrade at check in - for $30 more per day - should have taken it, then we were too busy and too lazy to move - I guess it was our fault. The beds were so uncomfortable that we didn't sleep all week.

We had some great meals and I saw Terry Fator from America's Got Talent - he was really fun and gave a full hour show then stayed for autographs for everyone who wanted one:thumbsup2

On Friday, Jim's Uncle and family and some friends came from LA and they picked him up and headed for Lake Mead with their jet skis. He had a great day, and we met up for dinner and gambling that night - I skipped out on David Cassidy and David Cook - decided to spend the evening with my hubby. Saturday we all headed out to the lake and had a perfect day. 85 degrees, beautiful clear water - really cold and clear - fun on the jet skis, margaritas and good company! We had an early dinner and headed back to our hotel to pack. We got into Reno at 9am and drove 5 hours home yesterday. It was good to spend time with our kids again.

Jim left for a 2 1/2 mo trip today for the Air Force - he'll be working in another state for awhile. He was really sad to leave the babies, as they'll be moving to Texas this Summer.

Next Post: Candy Lady

Alrighty, where were we? Oh, headed to Japan:

We enjoyed looking through the shops and reminiscing about things we used to see or eat in Okinawa. They didn't have the rice flour mix or cherr blossom soap I was looking for.

We stopped to visit these guys - they were disappointed that we didn't have any peas to feed them,

March09BBallZooWDW125-1.jpg

We've never really looked around back here - headed straight in for food one time and we stop for the drummers. It's really beautiful!
March09BBallZooWDW126-1.jpg

It was getting to be 12:50, and the "Candy Lady" Misuko (?) was about to come out. We took our place at the little booth, and she came out at 12:58 - Jim was sure to tell me she was 3 min late!:goodvibes

March09BBallZooWDW127-1.jpg

First she made a pink dragon. She kept repeating, "I present for you pink draagone - I present for you." She was amazing!

March09BBallZooWDW128-1.jpg

She "snip snipped" away and came out with the fins and legs in no time! She said "Hello, Hello" when she lifted up a leg - everyone laughed.
March09BBallZooWDW130-1.jpg

Oops - I don't know why the post above posted before I was ready -

She painted some details and gave the "lollipop" to a family, then proceeded to make a yellow monkey, a puoople panda and a white geeraffe. This is a must see, I think! If you get your little ones up in the front row before she starts, she might choose your family to make one for.
March09BBallZooWDW131-1.jpg

We headed in to the store behind her - some gong ringing, oyster choosing, pearl finding was going on. Very expensive.

More pics next post - my computer is messing up again.

I have never seen the candy lady and don't even know where her little booth is! But people on the DIS talk about her all the time. Is she in China or Japan??? Where is the booth?

:rotfl2: Yah, I was counting on you to keep the audience occupied until I could come back!:goodvibes
well if i knew that i was in charge while you were gone, i would have entertained the crowd for you, when is your next trip, so i can get some materials together for the readers out there?

that candy lady is awesome, i bet if i get parker up ther next trip she will make him something.

She is in Japan - just look to your right directly across from the place where the drummers perform. The little booth is set up in front of that store. They move the booth in about 15 min before it starts - just look at my pic and you'll recognize it when you see it. She only comes out 3 or 4 times a day - you can check the times guide for the day to see when she'll be out.

I'll be traveling to Texas this Summer - I hope I'm done with my TR by then! Maybe you can be my "cyber assistant" :rotfl2:

Of course she'll choose Parker - he's too cute to miss!:lovestruc

Continued from last post -

I forgot to mention that the Candy lady is the first girl in her family in over 200 years to practice the art of candy sculpting. She is quiet proud of that fact!:thumbsup2

So we headed in to the store - there were some very expensive oysters producing free pearls :goodvibes which were put in to expensive settings:

Legend has it that these guys turned to stone while waiting without ADRs at LeCellier

March09BBallZooWDW140-1.jpg

Okay, the true story:

March09BBallZooWDW141-1.jpg

We headed over to Norway, where I really wanted to check out the Laila perfume - I know a lady named Laila from Norway:goodvibes I didn't care for it. It was just too much "flower" for me. I like fruit and spices. We met up with this guy, who my grandchildren are convinced will "sniff you up" This started with Dawn's TR where Erin was standing under his nose. Apparently, Jim was also afraid, because he wouldn't pose with him
March09BBallZooWDW142-1.jpg

Next we were on to Mexico to visit our Three Caballeros - another trivia question. Interesting ride - can't quite figure out why they chose to show cartoons in the middle of an Aztec ruin, but we were sitting and it was cool.
