Gramma jinxed disney on spring break! PARTING THOUGHTS 06/15/09

I am glad you made it to Disney. Too bad about your card messing, I hate it when that happens! You know it is not your fault but everyone around you doesn't. I can't wait to hear more.

Thanks! We figured it out the next day - just not a magical start to our trip.:sad2:

JORDAN! There you are! I was just posting on your thread!:rotfl2: Nice to see you here!

Mon, March 23rd Epcot at last! Time to get our Disney on!

We wanted to be at Epcot at RD, but we were so tired and stressed from the night before that we decided to sleep in with no wake up call from Mickey. Sorry TGM. We still had to get our passes, so we got ready very quickly, and we hopped in the car and were on our way. I'm sorry, but I felt a little smug driving past the people at the bus stops waiting for "not that bus" as we whizzed out of the resort.

I didn't get a pic of the WDW sign the night before, so I made sure to take this one today:

At 10am, an hour after RD, we got to a half full parking lot at Epcot, and I almost panicked! We had TGM, and we knew which park to go to - how could this be? :confused3

March09BBallZooWDW104.jpg

We went through bag check and headed over to the ticket window. Jim presented his military ID and asked for the free 5-day park hopper, and a companion one for me - $99:banana::banana::banana: No jinx here - the CM smiled and starting ringing them up - had to write his name down. Now you know when something just seems to good to be true? I was so worried that it really wouldn't happen that way, and my budget would be all wrong!:headache: But it WAS true!!!!

Thank you Disney- what a wonderful way to feel appreciated!

I forgot to mention I had used my credit card the night before at the resort with no problem- but I wasn't sure if they actually processed anything. So Jim gave the ticket CM his card just to see what happened. NO GO! We used my debit card again and decided to call the bank when they opened.
We headed over to MM and saw that the wait time for the non-spinning (green?) side was 15min! Score! We hopped in line, and it moved really fast! It was only 5 min. I snapped this one of our future WDW resort they're building in outer space:

I had always done the spin cycle on this one, but I enjoyed the non-spin almost as much. The floating sensation is the only thing missing, and you don't risk being sick all day.

It was Flower and Garden Festival time at Epcot, so I took lots of topiary and flower pics - I'll put them in as I come across them:

We came across the Kim Possible Kiosk, but decided to leave it for the children to play. Now, I kind of wish we would have done it!

We decided to skip TT. I think it's fun, but Jim really doesn't like wasting his time on it, so I agreed to skip it.

We crossed over to Soarin' to get a FP. The return time was 11:25. Perfect. We decided to take a ride with Figment as we hadn't done that in 12 years. It was cute and I was tempted to buy some fun pics on the way out, but Jim walked really fast in order to help me get over my temptation. He's good at that. Remember the selective hearing? It keeps my wallet in check sometimes.

We saw no wait for Nemo, so we decided to grab a clam and take a ride on the EOC!

Now it was time to go Soarin' over California (that's what they call the original - it IS over California!) We were in line with a family that were SO hoping to get the front row after 4 trips of not getting the front. I told them to just ask the CM, and they would let them wait.

Hey, no jinx here - we ALL got the front row!:yay: You have to do this one in the front row at least once - no feeties above you - awesome. The ride ended to thunderous applause as usual, and we were off to lunch in Morocco!

Along the way, we stopped to visit Donald in Mexico on the Rio de Tiempo - here are some posters to remind you of our trivia question:

Our first jinx happened here. We boarded the second boat to come along, and got just into the ride around the first cartoon screens, and just stopped moving. :rolleyes1 We heared an announcement about "stay seated, our voyage will continue momentarily" in a Mexican accent - and then we were on our way again,:thumbsup2

We walked over to Morocco and headed for the Tangierine Cafe. I was really excited to try this as I'd seen so much on the DIS about it. This was absolutely the worst meal we had on our whole trip - maybe ever:sick: But I got some pretty pics of the restaurant:

Jim asked me not to do any food porn yet, so I don't have any yet. He had the lamb platter and I had the chicken platter. We got large cokes and had the baklava for dessert. They were carving chicken off a huge spit - it didn't dawn on me until later - no chicken would be that large. Obviously it was pressed meat. Yuk! I am a texture person. I don't do mushy. At first I enjoyed the couscous and cilantro salad and the yellow rice, but the flavors started to get really nauseating to me. Jim didn't enjoy his food either, although he thought the lamb was okay. Sorry, I know some of you really like this place. I think I just don't do mid-East food.

Now I was looking forward even more to our dinner at Cape May.

Next we visit the Candy Lady!

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE - GOTTA GO GET READY!

Tammie - I'm so sorry you didn't like Tangierine Cafe! It IS one of our faves! I've even made the lentil salad at home in the summer - just LOVE it!

The pics look great - looking forward to more!

Hey Im one of those people in the line waiting for a bus LOL. Its really not that bad.. this way we all get to relaxe. (and if the boys act up we just sit away from them and look at them give looks and say I wonder who's children they belong too and roll our eyes.. LOL)

**note to self dont eat at Tangierine Cafe**

I'm glad I tried it, otherwise I would always be wondering....

Thanks!

That's funny about your boys!:rotfl2:

We used the bus on our last trip, and figured out we spent 10 hours of our vacation waiting for "not that bus." That is a whole day of vacation!
As well as one tortuous afternoon when we could not seem to get to DTD from AK. And we had to leave an hour early for ADRs.
Even with our GPS troubles, and the conflicting signs, Jim was still very happy to be driving ourselves!

Some people really like Tangierine - ask Kara!:thumbsup2

Hi. Just read the whole thing. By the way i only got one wrong on the Trivia... had fun playing even tho it was over.:sad1:
Great Trippie. Waiting around for more.:surfweb:

Hi Burly! Welcome and thanks for jumping in! I'll post more tomorrow! I have to get some sleep - busy day tomorrow!

Hi tammie! I'm back from my week at the beach in NC, and I've just caught up on your adventures! So here's the things I thought to say while I was reading through-

Poor Jim! No crabs!! :sad2: I'm glad that was only for that night, though! And your family looks GREAT!!! The babies are beautiful!:cutie:

My GPS is wacko, too. On this trip to NC it had me going on backroads instead of the highways that were right next to it. What's up with that? In OBX, it had no roads at ALL for the the whole north end of the island!!:scared1: Good thing my friend rode with me and told me where to go for that part of the trip.:thumbsup2

That hippie at the Old Spaghetti Factory freaked me out!

Pods has the same selective hearing as Jim after only 23 (almost) years of marriage- what the h***?:rotfl:

I loved SSR last year, but I wonder if I would have felt the same about it without access to a car. And it was soooo convenient to actually HAVE a car there, because you just walked right out of your room and got in. Conversly, we HATED having the car at the BWV in November- we wasted hours waiting for the valet to find our car, it was a big PITA.

So sorry you didn't like Tangierine Cafe- I'm with Kara, I really enjoy it, too! I just wanted to say don't ever try Greek Gyros if you didn't like that meat- it's the same thing.

Thanks for the topiary pics, can't wait to see them in person in just over 4 weeks!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Great tr as usual!! Can't wait for more!!:yay:

Ellen

Welcome Back Ellen! I hope you had a great time.

Thank you, of course I think they are the most beautiful, smart children ever born! :goodvibes

I think it depends on who sends the information to the company programming the satelites :confused3 I know it looks for the shortest route, which probably isn't always the fastest.

Watch out - it only gets worse!

I used to get Greek Gyros in Spokane and really liked them - I always got the beef, and it was shredded, maybe not as mushy. I love Greek salads!

Thanks for the topiary pics, can't wait to see them in person in just over 4 weeks!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Your trip is getting really close!

Great tr as usual!! Can't wait for more!!:yay:

Ellen

Thanks!
;)

Some people might think that's a good thing! :rotfl2: Sorry, couldn't resist! ;)

:rotfl2:You know, they have shirts that say, "I got Crabs at Joe's" and "Peace, Love and Crabs"

I would just like to say, not that I know 1st hand, but I have heard peace, love and crabs do NOT go together (well, maybe the love and crabs, but once they're together they'll be no peace left!).;)

And I have never had a gyro with shredded meat! they always serve it with the pressed lamb/beef around here- I guess west coast Greeks cook differently than east coast Greeks!

Are you sure? Cause wasn't this in the 80's when you were eating Doritos??? :rotfl2:

No, actually it was in the 90's after the Doritos bag was EMPTY, KARA JEAN!:rotfl: And they were NOT my critters, just to be clear!!!

LOLLLLLLLL!:lmao:

:rotfl:That was us too, walking right past the crowded Bus Stop at CSR and smiling as we hopped in the van! :rolleyes1

At 10am, an hour after RD, we got to a half full parking lot at Epcot, and I almost panicked! We had TGM, and we knew which park to go to - how could this be? :confused3

It has just been ridiculously busy this spring. It doesn't sound like the waits were too horrible though.

I had always done the spin cycle on this one, but I enjoyed the non-spin almost as much. The floating sensation is the only thing missing, and you don't risk being sick all day.

Yeah I am big on the thrill rides, but I have only gone green on this one, never orange.
I don't do gravitron that well.

We came across the Kim Possible Kiosk, but decided to leave it for the children to play. Now, I kind of wish we would have done it!

Yes, it was a whole lot of fun, I have to admit! :)
I was skeptical......and I was WRONG!;)

Now it was time to go Soarin' over California (that's what they call the original - it IS over California!) We were in line with a family that were SO hoping to get the front row after 4 trips of not getting the front. I told them to just ask the CM, and they would let them wait.

Hey don't laugh at me....but I never realized it was just California until like the second or third time I rode it. I thought it was supposed to be places all over the US, and I didn't even catch that the castle was strange ( uhh...as in Sleeping Beauty Castle not Cinderella Castle) until a few rides in. I thought the film made it look squatty. :confused3:rotfl2:

Hey, no jinx here - we ALL got the front row!:yay: You have to do this one in the front row at least once - no feeties above you - awesome. The ride ended to thunderous applause as usual, and we were off to lunch in Morocco!

Ask for Gate B, row 1. You might have to wait one more round, but they will accomodate you. One tip, just don't look too far up or you can see the top of the screen where it ends. That might be just as distracting as feet.

(Ok...maybe not...lol)

Our first jinx happened here. We boarded the second boat to come along, and got just into the ride around the first cartoon screens, and just stopped moving. :rolleyes1 We heared an announcement about "stay seated, our voyage will continue momentarily" in a Mexican accent - and then we were on our way again,:thumbsup2
Oh the horror! That's one ride I don't think I'd like to get stuck on...unless you were still out front by the volcano and you could watch the folks eat!

We walked over to Morocco and headed for the Tangierine Cafe. I was really excited to try this as I'd seen so much on the DIS about it. This was absolutely the worst meal we had on our whole trip - maybe ever:sick: But I got some pretty pics of the restaurant:

Ugh. I'm with you. Not my cup of tea.:confused3

Can't wait to hear more!:thumbsup2
