Gramma jinxed disney on spring break! PARTING THOUGHTS 06/15/09

Great update! Loved all the pics!! We have never been through the queue for TSM always a FP. It was fun seeing all the cool toys!
We stayed in that section of SSR last July. It was a nice stroll over to DTD!:goodvibes We were on the ground floor though and had a few little visitors in the room. The tiny frogs were not a problem, but the snake that Marc told me about three days later, because he couldn't catch it was another story completely
!:scared1:

Never did make it on TSM last trip with the family. I will go on TSM. I will go on TSM..:lmao:

aww man that wait time... thats starting to worry me when we go in August! My boys will not like a long wait and the heat LOL.

And Margarita Bar... how did I miss that last time we were in DTD?

I loved all the pictures, thanks. Could you please tell me alittle more about AI was their a big crowd waiting to get in, is their a set time for each show and you just get in line before the next show ect..

Oh! I would be so freaked out if a snake came in our room. Good thing he didn't tell you! I'm going to remember to ask for upper floors for sure!

It is a "can't miss" for sure! You just have to be there early to get a FP!

I guess you really have early ADRs and be a little early, or it starts backing up. I just didn't want to work our whole day around ADRs this time.

Thanks, glad you're liking them!

We got there 15 min before show time, and there wasn't a wait, but the seats were almost full. There are 4 shows a day - 3 regular shows and one final show with the overall winner for that day (who will get a FP for a real audition in their area for the next AI) You can get the showtimes when you first come in the gate - grab a map and a show schedule!

Thats how a few of the shows work there, so you really have to do some planning!

don't you just hate it when things just DON'T go the way you think they will and it puts your day in a tailspin????? that's happened to us a few times. it seems like it happens at DHS and AK more than anywhere for me. i can't wait to hear about flying fish - we are trying it next trip!

Yikes Tammie, my quotes are really messed up! I hope you can figure out my responses, cause I don't think I can fix this!!!
We had to maneuver around the ferry as we approached, so I snapped a couple of pics - almost like being on the Disney Magic and pulling up next to the Wonder!
LOL, too funny!
I had never ridden JC at night, so I wanted to see what it was like - we had FP saved from the afternoon. It was really fun and our skipper was pretty entertaining.
One of these days we'll get on JC at night. We keep trying but never quite make it. Somehow we always end up there at dusk.
We headed over to Splash, which I have decided we will always ride last from now on - that way when we are wet, we won't be cold or wet for long. We got in, started forward, and yup! We had to wait for a little while before taking off. We were in the 2nd seat - a little nervous about the water. There was a dad with a little 4 yr old girl in front of us. I was so worried she would fall out, the dad seemed so casual about the ride, and he had never ridden, but he did hang on to her at the drop. She was very brave, and squealed like crazy every time she thought we were dropping, and loved the big drop!!! They got entirely soaked, as we predicted, and the couple behind us did - we were just a little wet on our legs.

Yeah...Splash....They changed the timing of the cannons at the beginning of the ride (you know when you come out around the drop at the beginning and it makes the "splash" of the other people going down the drop) well, anyway if you watch it carefully...one of every three or so splashes are HUGE. It used to be one of every 5 or 8 or so. Needless to say every time we ride now we always seem to catch the big splash and start out the ride soaked to the bone....:confused3...sigh....
The nemo broke in the suitcase on the way home, and the Minnie lasted about a day before someone bent the lights and broke the wires - not happy - $15 a piece!
Oh NO!:sad2:
Have you tried a poncho? I know Dawn wears one, but I always feel like a wimp if I whip out a poncho for a water ride - I mean I know that's the point, right?
Absolutely not! Nothing says "DISMoms Gone Wild" like wet t-shirts!;)

LMAO! :lmao: That's whats so good about Dis green instead of white!;)

Since if it weren't for bad luck we wouldn't have any at all, we buy the $1 disposable ponchos at Target and wear those on Splash now. Yes we get the weird looks in the line but I don't care cause we're the ones similing and dry on the way out and they aren't! :rolleyes1 I really can enjoy the ride much more now knowing I won't be miserable with my drippy drawers afterwards!:thumbsup2

Well, not all the rules, just a few.
We were on a mission. We had to get to TSM and get a FP – of course so did the other 400 people lined up behind the ropes. After carefully studying the map and reading TGM – I was sure I had found a short cut. We went to the left toward Prime Time, and stopped at the rope. Those guests who had breakfast ressies were allowed to enter, and then they had the opening scene, which we couldn’t see. I was sure we could go around the back of the big hat and cut behind TGMR. Wrong! There is no shortcut! Everything back there is a dead end! We wasted all of our efforts to get there early, because we ended up behind most of the other early birds!
Yikes! Sorry! I knew when I read you were by '50's it wasn't going to end well! :sad2: We just missed our RD at DHS too, so your whole situation ended up pretty much exactly as ours did! It wasn't bad though, we did what you did and got two turns on TSM too! :thumbsup2

Yes, I became one of “those People” who saves places in line for their family members. When I got to the edge of the building at the front corner of the chain, I moved over and let everyone pass me. When Jim got there, I waved him over and he moved the chain and joined me in line. This was really hard for my military man. He always follows the rules – everything works better if we all go by the book. To the letter. I quickly convinced him that others were doing it. We don’t usually do this, although I am never upset with others who do it – why are the rules only different at Disney? Don’t we all hold places in line for our party at other places, or is it just a West Coast rude thing?
Nah, don't worry about it at all! You were letting people go by you, too so you were being very courteous! I'm sure nobody minded at all! :goodvibes Heck I have no problem at all admitting that while I wait in line at Dumbo with the kids I send Ron for FP's and I lift the chains for him to get back in, even if we are all the way at the front row of the windbacks...lol. I'm ready for my flames, ha!:rotfl:
We love this ride!
Oh us too! It's so fun! I *almost* beat Ron, the 2nd time too. I was leading until the last set of screens. :sad2:
I never win anything I play with Jim….. this would be the last time.
HA HA! :rotfl2:
Our breakfast stop ended up taking 45 minutes!:headache:
OMG!That stinks! :guilty:

Our wait time ended up being 70 minutes.
UGH! RNRC wait is always horrible! They actually shut it down when I was in the FP line when we were there and we all left and then it came back up and everybody was RUNNING back into line from the courtyard! It was like a huge crush of people, it would have been funny to watch everyone panicking if I wasn't one of the ones in it!

The LMA was a little farther back than I thought. Once again, we were in the crowd all going the same way, because there’s only one way in and out of there. The stands were about half full. They sent us up one set of stairs, then another CM made us get down and move to the far end. Then they wanted us to move all the way to the center behind the poles. NOT! Actually I would have complied to a point - I’m not that much of a rule breaker, but there was a lady next to us who was “NOT MOVING!” So we couldn’t scoot down to let others in. People started climbing around her to get seats, and she was fine with that.
Same thing happened to us when we were there! I'mm glad the CM's actually direct people. Looking up at the stadium (it was pretty full when we were there) I didn't think it was possible to squeeze one more body in there...but they did! And then some!!!
We checked out the new T-Rex restaurant. Pretty cool theme! We decided that the grandkids will have to be a lot older before they visit this restaurant – it is quite realistic![/
Did you guys eat there or just walk through? We ate there, it was SO much fun!!! It didn't seem too intense but then again my kids are old and very young, not the ages where they would be scared by the dino's...actually I'm suprised Sarah wasn't creeped out by them but she liked it. Next year probably a different story!

They have build-a-dino like build-a-bear.
Yup. Beware. We dropped a few hundred in here! :scared1:

Great installments, I am really enjoying it! :goodvibes

:goodvibesDawn, I know - us super planners have a hard time not keepin' to the schedule. Jim jut keeps telling me, "if we want to do it all, we'll have to do this differently - we just have to make choices." He keeps me calm:thumbsup2

Jen, I did get your replies - it was a puzzlement:goodvibes We didn't eat at TRex - just not good timing. I think our babies would be terrified - Myles is still terrified at RFC!:rotfl2: It looks like alot of fun for when they're older, though!

it seems that RNRC and TOT are usually busier in the early morning, if you go later, they seem to die down some when people are done entering the parks and go the rest of the stuff in the back

Wow, it sounds like your DHS day was crowded! When we went in December it was very crowded (at least to us). We had been at that same time before with very small crowds. You certainly can not do everything you want with big crowds. I can't imagine what summer crowds must be like.

Okay Tammie - I'm up to page 26! I'm trying to catch up!

Love the Santa photo btw! And the candy maker looked cool. I'm very interested to see how Wishes went -almost there! :cool1:

That's a good point - thanks! We just need to plan on a whole day there next time. We do like this park.

It wasn't all thst crowded - the streets seemed almost empty - it's just that everyone was trying to do the same things at the same time, and you can only go one way in and out of so many areas there. TGM really was dead on with the crowd predictions!

Lorrie! Thanks for being here! I'll slow down a bit and let you catch up! I have the next update ready, but I'm going to post my DTD purchases first.

Okay, Tammie. I'm making progress. :)

Jim sounds like Carlos. He would so want the patio at WCC. And I could so hear him telling the waitress "Um...no. Not me. Go". :lmao:

Okay! I'm caught up!

From what I remember:
We had the Buzz too - and he lasted almost a year. Next time you want to get a spinner - try him. Nicolas was VERY VERY rough on him!

You made me feel so good about not going to TRex! :)

I'm anxious to see what you think of FF. I've got some time before ADR booking, but I dunno which I want to pick yet.

I love the slow pace. I'm looking forward to that for a few days! :goodvibes

Good trip report! I have loved it! :cool1:

PS - how do you like your Baggalini. I have the same one in blue and it was great with the kids. That was all we needed to take. I'm wondering if it is just too much bag for the two of us. Glasses, room keys, maybe a small poncho :confused3. Interested in what you think.popcorn::

See, I waited for you!:rotfl2: You know, we do have a Buzz spinner that is still going strong, too! I'm not going to spend any more money on those things for sure. Okay, what if we have a 4th grandbaby who hasn't had one yet:goodvibes

Oh, I love to give my opinion!;) I loved the Baggalini! It was just the right size, you could switch positions to give your neck or shoulders a rest, and Jim carried it a few times, too. I carried my camera, cell phone, sunglasses, ponchos, hand sanitizer and a bottle of water. I loved the organizer pocket for IDs, room keys and tickets, etc. I will definately carry this bag again!

Hi everyone! I'm sorry that it's taking so long to post again - I'm so busy and tired this week. My DB is in town with his family, so I've been spending alot of time with them.
