Gramma jinxed disney on spring break! PARTING THOUGHTS 06/15/09

We had 8:30 ADRs for FF, s0 we headed out about 7:30 so we could look around at BW for awhile.
On the way out, Jim stopped at the site of the new Treehouse Villas at SSR so I could take a pic. Not too clear – we couldn’t get in the gate, and I took this from over the top of the car.

Soon we were at Boardwalk Inn – I love the décor here:

We walked around taking in the views

And the street performers
March09BBallZooWDW383.jpg

We walked down to ESPN, but you couldn’t in because of the NCAA basketball finals.
March09BBallZooWDW381.jpg

We checked out the DVC headquarters there – they had a BWV unit on display, and they got us all excited about VGC and Hawaii coming up. We checked in to FF and were told we had a 20 min wait. Yah, we’ve heard that before.
March09BBallZooWDW382.jpg

Our wait this time was 45 minutes.

I would love to just resort hop, but I know the boys would never go for that.. Might have to get up early and do that LMAO ya right

The Treehouse villa's look too cool. Would love to stay in those!

Hope dinner is yummy tonight LOL

. I stepped inside the Inn and took pics of the lobby. Beautiful. Outside, we were sitting on a bench with this view.
March09BBallZooWDW384.jpg

It was a fun atmosphere – children rolling in the grass, families playing together – pretty cool. I showed Jim the “scarey clown pool.” We decided that even though this resort is beautiful, it may be a little too busy for us.

We were finally buzzed for our table. FF has a really unique atmosphere. Kind of busy, yet it felt really intimate. There were some people seated at the counter watching the cooks.
March09BBallZooWDW391.jpg

We were seated near the window. We felt like our server was a little pretentious , but he did a good job. We had the Artisan cheese platter for an appy– it was delish, and fun to try all the different flavors. There was one from our area that I wanted to find, but we lost the “cheese map” that’s comes with it. I had a wonderful glass of cabernet. “Like butta.”
Our main course – I had the Char Crusted New York Strip Steak with foyo sauce and asparagus with roasted potatoes. Jim had the Main diver scallops with risotto and mushrooms. I thought the flavor of the steak and sauce was TDF, however the cut of the steak was bad. There was a lot of grissle and fat chunks all through it – for a $42 steak it wasn’t’ a “strip steak” it was a chunk of T-Bone. Jim thought his scallops were just “okay.” Evidently we got plenty to eat, because we weren’t interested in dessert when the meal was over. It was offered to go, but we were moving in the morning, and we knew we wouldn’t eat it tonight. We did enjoy our meal and loved the ambiance.

We rolled back to the car and “home” to bed. It was our last night there, :guilty:and I was sad to leave our villa.

Next Post: Breakfast in Hawaii

Hi Fellow West Coaster! It was fun to resort hop, but it would be hard with kiddos. You can schedule a couple of ADRs at some of the resorts and that gives you an excuse. There are things to do at BW for kids!

I'm excited about the Treehouse Villas! I can't wait to start reading about them from DISers. I want to try to stay there, if we can figure out a time to get the whole family there - I have to budget the points.

Your trip will be coming around before you know it! Do the boys know about it this time?

I loved your pictures of the Boardwalk. That is the number 1 place I would love to stay. It seems like it would be so much fun. Of course right now that is just a dream. Maybe one day. Sorry your steak wasn't good, especially since you had to pay so much for it.

1 word last nights flat out stink.
:mad::sad1:
wait thats 5 words,

I know - should be illegal or something!:goodvibes We do have 2 more nights 0ff property - SO not the same!

Thanks - Boardwalk is very beautiful! I had the DDP, so it didn't seem as expensive, but it was 2TS credits. Next time - Le Cellier!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Jim is coming home for 3 days tonight- he's been gone a month! I'll be back on Tuesday!

i finally took the picture of the stuff, and how will post it in hte next day or so, hopefully by the end of the day.

Tammie- sorry you didn't love FF like we do - seriously our best meal EVER in WDW!!! But I just love the whole BW area. Whether staying at BW, BC, YC, or even the Swan or Mahi Mahi (well, that IS a dolphin fish......) it's a great place to be.

Keep it coming!

Dan, where are the pics???? We wanna know if we need to work harder on Tammie's quiz next time! :rotfl2:

Thanks Dan! Sorry to put so much responsibility on you:goodvibes

well that only took me about 2 months to take pictures of.

Oh! Maybe I'll bring the babies and Dan can babysit!:thumbsup2

Now I want to mention that Dan's gift was selected personally based on his fav character. In our family, everyone has to have their character.

Thanks for posting the pics, Dan!

Kara, I'm sure FF is a great place - I think my all time favorite at WDW is still HBD at DHS in 2004. Others have said they didn't care for thier meal there. I think it depends on the night they eat there! I really enjoyed the area and atmosphere, though!

Friday, March 27th – this was our check out day for SSR. We were moving off-site – more about that later. But first, our breakfast ADR at Kona Café! We packed quickly and we were off to Hawaii by way of the Poly!

Whoops! I don’t have any pics of Kona from this morning! Sorry. I got the French Press of the Kona coffee – yumm! I shocked our server by ordering only one cup to go with this pot. I had just enough left to fill up my refillable mug – perfect! I ordered the Tonga Toast with ham– it did not disappoint! Thanks, Dawn for your food porn which encouraged me to get this! Jim had an egg platter of some kind. He liked it also. Now it was on to the ball game!

Now we are baseball fans, even though Basketball is #1 for Jim. Our youngest DS was a championship catcher on 3 state champion teams, so our lives were baseball 6 months of the year for 12 years! Sometimes when I’m at the ball field, sitting in the sun, I think this is what Heaven must be like! Okay, I will admit it’s more fun when you‘re watching your son play , but still Heaven!

We drove over to WWS, and the Disney magic was evident here too!
March09BBallZooWDW403.jpg

This complex didn’t look like any ball field I had ever seen – so beautiful!

March09BBallZooWDW406.jpg

March09BBallZooWDW407.jpg

The game started at 1pm, and it was only 11am, so we hit the souvenier tent outside the park and got shirts for DS24 who is the Braves fan, and a shirt for Jim, as well as a Spring Training pin. We headed inside and checked out the gift shop.
March09BBallZooWDW408.jpg

We weren’t hungry for a hot dog or pretzel or anything, so we went up to our seats. Here’s Jim in paradise:
March09BBallZooWDW414.jpg

We had really good seats – just to the right of home plate. That’s our spot after watching our catcher for so long! It was fun to watch the usher CM who seated us, though. He made everyone who came up feel like they had great seats! He would look at the ticket, and say, “Oh yes! Section ____ numbers ____ and ____! Right this way!”

We watched the warm ups, and the crowd filling in for awhile, then started to get really hot. So we headed down to the gift shop and got some $14 sunscreen! On the way back, we got a bottle of water and checked out the bar cart for later.

March09BBallZooWDW411.jpg

March09BBallZooWDW412.jpg

March09BBallZooWDW413.jpg

The game had that old fashioned feel. Peanut vendors and big band music - these guys gave us a saxophone concert:
March09BBallZooWDW415.jpg

Minnie came out with a guest to throw out the first pitch!
March09BBallZooWDW416.jpg

March09BBallZooWDW418.jpg

So here was a little glitch in “heaven” Two dads with 3 boys came and sat right behind us with their own pop and coolers. Just as we started singing along to the Star Bangled Banner, I felt something splashing the back of my ankles. I turned around to see ORANGE POP splashing down behind my seat and all over the floor under me! I grabbed my bag just before it got soaked, but I was standing in an orange puddle. Nice. The other dad noticed, and went to ask for a mop up for me. He’s the one who apologized. The father of the offender didn’t even say anything, except to yell at his boy. A CM came and gave us some towels. I mopped up the mess, then put a towel down under my feet. I took my sandals off. I can’t stand to be sticky. It’s almost as bad as being cold.
So, next thing you know, the dad asks the CM for a replacement. He came back and said, “I’m sorry, I looked all over the park and can’t find orange pop anywhere….” I can’t believe they did that.

We forgot about the mess, and enjoyed the company of two older gentlemen who were season ticket holders. One had been coming to games for 60 years and was still hoping to catch his first fly ball!
March09BBallZooWDW419.jpg

March09BBallZooWDW423.jpg

March09BBallZooWDW424.jpg

March09BBallZooWDW429.jpg

The Braves were smashing the Tigers, so after the “bigs” were taken out and replaced with the rookies, Jim was hot enough to call it quits.

Our next stop: Celebration, Florida!

I HATE getting spilled on. I am glad it didn't get to your bag.

I grabbed my bag in time, but the gentlemen next to us lost their newspaper. A few drops splashed up on my khaki capris, but not enough to really notice.
