Gramma jinxed disney on spring break! PARTING THOUGHTS 06/15/09

J was afraid to ride SM (he's always been to short before LOL) but we told him to try it if he didnt like it no worries.. we went during EMH and did it last, well 8times later we finally left SOAKED. So ya its a good one to hit last! LOL.

OMG those flashy spinny things we had those for years, they finally "broke" a few yrs ago DARN LOL

I love splash but I have to figure out how to keep my hair dry! I'm so sorry about the Disney light up toys, they are expensive!

Oh! 8 times - that does sound a little wet - I'd rather be at Blizzard Beach at that point!:goodvibes

I wish those spinny things had a warranty!

I love splash but I have to figure out how to keep my hair dry! I'm so sorry about the Disney light up toys, they are expensive!

Have you tried a poncho? I know Dawn wears one, but I always feel like a wimp if I whip out a poncho for a water ride - I mean I know that's the point, right?

nex time i ride splash, i am wearing a snorkle and goggles, and if there are little kids on board, i am going to tell them i hope they can hold there breath for the under water portion.

:rotfl:

nah might be too mean.
:rolleyes1

:worship::worship::worship:

hey, that's a great suggestion! :thumbsup2

I say do it!:rotfl2:

:rotfl2:

Sorry for the delay - I'm just so busy this week - I'll get back to you as soon as I can! Hope all you moms had a Happy Mother's Day!:flower3:

Oooh - I love me some Captain Jack! Thanks for those pix Tammie!

I felt the same way about WL also. Never thought I would want to stay there, but it was the only DVC available when Lauren and I went last June - we loved it! It does need to be experienced at least once. Then again, I feel that way about EVERY Disney resort!;)

And a little tip for all of you if you who wear that poncho on SM - make sure you SIT on the poncho! I didn't and a giant wave engulfed us - my whole body was dry -- except for my shorts!:headache:

So what are you saying? we need to bring our ponchos on our monorail pub crawl this Sunday night??????:dance3:

well looks like i have 3 yes votes for the snorkle and googles, me and parker will have to try that.
:rotfl:
he will be over 2 and my little side kick in crime at disney.

I would have been upset about the spinny things breaking too. Luckily we had good luck with out Buzz Lightyear spinny. He still works after 4 years!

Does anyone know the definition of insanity? I just spent 90 minutes on my next segment, and then hit something and it's all gone. :hippie: I swear a monkey would learn faster!:rotfl2: I'll be back - I promise!

Well, not all the rules, just a few.
Thursday morning dawned bright and sunny, and we were determined to get to DHS for RD. As God is my Witness….Oh, sorry – that line was already taken by Winkers. We made it up and to the car on time, we parked near the front of the parking lot. We made it! We were through the turnstiles before RD.
We were on a mission. We had to get to TSM and get a FP – of course so did the other 400 people lined up behind the ropes. After carefully studying the map and reading TGM – I was sure I had found a short cut. We went to the left toward Prime Time, and stopped at the rope. Those guests who had breakfast ressies were allowed to enter, and then they had the opening scene, which we couldn’t see. I was sure we could go around the back of the big hat and cut behind TGMR. Wrong! There is no shortcut! Everything back there is a dead end! We wasted all of our efforts to get there early, because we ended up behind most of the other early birds!

When we got to TSM, the FP line was all the way down to Narnia. The stand-by line was just as long, so I got in stand-by while Jim jumped in the FP line. I was sure he would be done way before the line got close to the building.
RULE BREAKER NO., 1
Yes, I became one of “those People” who saves places in line for their family members. When I got to the edge of the building at the front corner of the chain, I moved over and let everyone pass me. When Jim got there, I waved him over and he moved the chain and joined me in line. This was really hard for my military man. He always follows the rules – everything works better if we all go by the book. To the letter. I quickly convinced him that others were doing it. We don’t usually do this, although I am never upset with others who do it – why are the rules only different at Disney? Don’t we all hold places in line for our party at other places, or is it just a West Coast rude thing?
So we enjoyed the fun queue area – at DL there is no theme, just a line.

It is so quirky and fun – and I won again!!!! I never win anything I play with Jim….. this would be the last time.
March09BBallZooWDW321.jpg

Now we broke Rule No. 2 – by TGM. “Don’t pass go, don’t collect $200 until you have done all the major attraftions before lunch.” Since our FP for TSM said we couldn’t get another one until ride time, 11:45, I decided I needed some coffee, such as it was! We stopped at ABC Comissary. Once we got inside, we realized we were hungry, and that we could get breakfast items with snack credits! SCORE! Jim ordered oatmeal and OJ, and went to get a table. I ordered toast and a fruit bowl with my coffee. When I got to the food counter, I noticed that all the CMs were asleep back there. It seems that cereal and fruit were very cohfusing. There were 3 orders in there, and I waited 15 minutes for oatmeal and toast! Our breakfast stop ended up taking 45 minutes!:headache:
We realized that our plan to be done here today by 1 and then go shopping at DTD would mean that we were not getting everything done, especially with the FP holdup. We headed over to TOT, thinking we would ride standby and then FP RNR before going back to TSM. Well, the wait time was 60 minutes, so we skipped TOT and went over to RNRC.

March09BBallZooWDW323.jpg

The Standby line said 40 minutes, which is our absolute maximum wait time we will do. So 15 minutes into our wait, a teen boy gave us one of those red ride timer lanyards he was tired of holding. That should have been our first clue.
Our wait time ended up being 70 minutes. I got pics of TOT from the outside deck, and then we were in the studio!!!!

After the ride to the concert, which I love, it was time to head back to TSM before the 11:55 am AI show! My streak was over – Jim was now the winner:
March09BBallZooWDW328.jpg

American Idol is so cool! The set is just like the real deal.
March09BBallZooWDW329.jpg

The warm up guy was pretty funny.
March09BBallZooWDW331.jpg

He taught us all how to “hey ho” and wave and clap at the appropriate times, and then our Ryan wannabe came out. He was pretty good!
March09BBallZooWDW334.jpg

The judges – really fun and did their parts well. We “booed” the Simon pretty well.
March09BBallZooWDW337.jpg

The contestants – they were all good – you have to audition to be on the game. They were signing people up at the gate when we came into the park.
March09BBallZooWDW339.jpg

Our winner – hairdresser mom – she sang, “hit me with your best shot.” Oh, the audience gets to vote with a button panel on our seats – really fun, except it is hard to choose.

We had a little time to spare before LMA, so we thought we’d visit TGMR – I know, I know – no one likes it – but I do. Small things entertain me. Well, there was no wait time posted, but when I peeked inside, the people were all crowded out in the lobby, which meant another 30 minutes inside. We weren’t that excited. We headed back to LMA, and saw these guys on the way:

The LMA was a little farther back than I thought. Once again, we were in the crowd all going the same way, because there’s only one way in and out of there. The stands were about half full. They sent us up one set of stairs, then another CM made us get down and move to the far end. Then they wanted us to move all the way to the center behind the poles. NOT! Actually I would have complied to a point - I’m not that much of a rule breaker, but there was a lady next to us who was “NOT MOVING!” So we couldn’t scoot down to let others in. People started climbing around her to get seats, and she was fine with that.
The show was pretty fun! There were a few surprises – I won’t ruin them for you if you haven’t seen it! Some of the stunts were pretty crazy, and some pretty predictable.

When this show was done we decided we were done. It was about 1 pm. So we made a stop in the Animation shop – Jim had seen a hand-painted POC cell in 2007 that he wished he had purchased, and we were planning to get it. Of course it was no longer available. I found it online for $2500. I don’t think that’s happening. I felt bad that he didn’t get it when he first saw it. We left the park empty handed – ready to head back to the resort and to DTD. This was our last day at SSR, and I wanted some more pool time.

CONT.
We stopped in at Artist’s Palette for another flatbread pizza. They really have a limited menu there – only gormet sandwiches, pasta and flatbread. I had the cheeseburger pizza. It was really good! It was the flatbread with ground beef and cheese, with pickles. It was drizzled with ketchup and mustard. Sounds weird, but it was YUMMY! We got cookies for dessert and saved them for later.

I filled up my mug with coke and headed for the room to add my rum and get ready for the pool. I had a nice time by the pool, reading a book while Jim did the laundry. I met some college girls from Iowa who were just in and were looking forward to Spring Break!!!! One of them was performing at Epcot later.
We got showered and walked to DTD. Funny how we had to have the CP room so we could walk to DTD, and then didn’t go until our last night!
I love the view as you walk over there.

We went to the T-shirt shop first – It looked like it would take a little time to figure out, and then to wait for the finished product, so we decided not to make T-Shirts this trip.

Heading into WOD, we were greeted by these characters:

I bought two more of my Mickey wine glasses, and a really cute Summer dishware set for DDIL and DS for their patio. I also found an adorable Mickey/Minnie salt & pepper for my kitchen. We looked at more toys for the kids, but didn’t really find anything else. We went to the Christmas shop and found our ornament for the year – we had it personalized with the year. I’ll post pics of these items later – the cord to my camera is in a closet next to where DS and DDIL are sleeping right now
We checked out the new T-Rex restaurant. Pretty cool theme!

We decided that the grandkids will have to be a lot older before they visit this restaurant – it is quite realistic!
We started for the resort – I had to stop at the Margarita bar and get my $14 margarita! We took our time getting back, and then got ready for dinner. We had 8:30 ADRs at FF at BW, and I wanted to look around first.
Looking at our resort from DTD:
