Got Pixie Dust? A June 2009 PTR ~TR Link, Page 180

I've got my blinds open waiting to see it start. LOL Right now it's just a few drops of rain hitting the windows.

Hopefully you will get some good sticking snow! :thumbsup2

I can't believe you didn't get any.... our whole back deck is covered in it a few inches... nothing really other than slush on the driveway though the kids have been outside all day and are sopping wet~ Maybe you'll get some later :)

Not a bit of it. Before it was showing green over where we are, but now it's just clear -- nothing :(. Hope your kids enjoy it! We will probably be the only county with school tomorrow, too. :sad1:

Don't be sad. Over here on the other side of the country, we're all in school tomorrow. Heck, I haven't even seen snow before. :rotfl:

But I hope you get some snow (AKA, some snow-days) this week.

I'm really getting a kick over everyone being excited for snow............I usually groan when it snows!:rotfl2:

Well we finally started getting the snow around 7:00 tonight and it's going strong. We already got the automated call saying no school tomorrow.

I wondered if you got snow. We were supposed to get 3-5 inches. This morning, nothing!! They still canceled school last night, so we are having a snow day with no snow!

Me too! We are getting about a foot and school is canceled AGAIN today. It was supposed to be their first day back after vacation! We are at 7 snow days now because of the big ice storm we had in December.

But I hope everybody enjoys the flakes if they are rare for you! :goodvibes

Hey Jackie... nope we had school today too, of course the kids were devasted... can you believe the outrage~hahah... sorry you didn't get the little we got :(

Now you made me feel guilty for being so excited we didn't have school :guilty: Okay okay, so would it help if I told you my son let the door fly open when he came inside and with the gale winds, about a bucket of snow blew into my kitchen, along with a burly golden retreiver who then proceeded to run through the house running after my DS in his snow boots...:headache: AARRHRHHGH! :headache:

Happy Monday to everyone :flower3:

You all got quite a bit, didn't you?

We only had a couple inches. It was all melted by sunset.

Welcome to the south! Yea, we dont know what to do with ourselves when they predict snow. Everyone goes out and buys all the milk and bread and all the schools close at the first flake.

Thanks for putting it in perspective for me.

No snow for us -- and certainly no snow days -- on the bright side, it is supposed to be 70 again by the end of the week. :goodvibes

It's such a novelty for us -- if we had it all winter long, we would be groaning, too, I am sure.

Did you have an awesome snow day???

I wondered if you got snow. We were supposed to get 3-5 inches. This morning, nothing!! They still canceled school last night, so we are having a snow day with no snow!

They were calling for two to four inches for us, but we didn't get anything in our county. Did you have a fun snow day with no snow?

Ugghhh, seven snow days is just too much!!!

We are off school today! 7 inches! :yay:

 Lucky! Did you enjoy it?

I saw that! I was quite surprised because I was sure you would be out. I made the mistake of leaving the WSB site up that showed the 430 school closings listed. When Connor saw it, he was so upset. I think he cried silently all the way to school. :sad1:

No, no, no, be excited! I am excited for you!!! Well, not the bucket of snow and the golden barging in, but for the snow and the day off! Hope you had a wonderful time enjoying it! :goodvibes

We watched the weather channel broadcasting from Birmingham yesterday, and I was positive that we would be getting it, too -- I even bought my milk and bread on Saturday in anticipation. :rotfl:

We were home from school today, too.

My kids are so used to all the snow that they're bored with it!

Kathy

We had a pretty good snow day. Hannah played with a couple of friends for a while sledding and then her socks got too wet and she was ready to come home. LOL We're on a 2 hour delay tomorrow.

Here's a couple of pictures as we're heading out:

On a separate note: LadyLallie I enjoyed your Disney selections on Subsonic Radio tonight.

OK...hijack over!

Henry? That sweet, precious baby is throwing a fit???

Concierge? Now that would be an upgrade that would have me dancing in the hotel lobby. LOL!

We are very excited to have it all paid for and celebrating double digits.

I want to see video of the dancing, should it happen! :rotfl:

I also laughed out loud at your Henry comment - noooooo neverrrrrrr! The other morning he thew his yogurt on the floor! :headache:

I'm in Minnesota and have to kinda sit here and giggle a bit at you Southeners and your snow. We got a foot the other day and school was not late or cancelled. We plowed right out our driveway in 4 wheel drive! :rotfl2: It takes A LOT to get school cancelled or late around here! The pics above are what we call a "dusting"!! :lmao:

But, I know you guys don't have the snow plows or the sand/salt trucks that go out at the crack of dawn before the commuters, so drive safe and stay warm!! In Minnesota we are having a warm up, it's supposed to get into the 40s this week!!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

They're calling for it to get into the upper 80's this week and one day into the 90's. I'm freezing when it hits 60.:lmao:

60's and 70's for us later in the week. I'm ready for it. My electric bill could use a break. If it's not going to be a snow day, then I'd like for it to be a warm day!

We're in some kind of belt here that wards off snow, I think. Very often, everyone around us will have snow, but our little belt will be snow-free. We'll be the lone county shining brightly on the morning weather map as going to school, and it really hurts! Whenever they finally do say our county, I watch it come on several times, just for the joy of seeing it and to really let it sink in.

Poor Connor. As you and I both know, his teachers were silently crying on the way to work, too. Every kid south of the KY-TN border deserves a few good snows like Dawn got. It gives them a chance to go wild with the sledding and snowball fights, snowmen and snow angels, and know the feeling of frozen cheeks and wet socks and the joy of a warm home and a mug of hot chocolate afterwards. Those are rare and treasured memories that every little Connor deserves to store away and reminisce about when they grow up. I know my kids have great memories of the few big snows we've had here.

One of our local weathermen comes to our school several times a week, because his wife is a teacher there. The kids always want to get mad at him when we don't get a snow day, and I have to explain that he reports the weather, but doesn't control it! I feel sorry for him when he walks in the back door on a day that other counties around us got snow days but we had to go to school. On the other hand, he's a real hero when he comes in and pretty much guarantees them (and their teachers) that the next day will be a snow day!

Maybe you can make up some kind of snow day party sometime to make it up to the kids. You can play some Eskimo games, put together a winter scene puzzle, watch Snow Buddies or some winter-themed movie, have snow ice cream (I've seen some in the stores, but forget which company makes it), and have hot chocolate and marshmallows. It might be as good as it gets for you in Georgia.

Or you could always pack your bags and move a couple of states to the north and get the real thing!

I was at a local thrift shop this weekned and found some sundae glasses, but they wanted like $6 a piece! I didn't see any at Target so I will look at Walmart next time I'm there.
