Got Pixie Dust? A June 2009 PTR ~TR Link, Page 180

I enjoyed your mini report on King Tut exhibit. popcorn::

The only thing, the mini report brought back memories of a field trip with 110 middle school students. Their was an exhibit on ancient Egypt at Emory University back in the 90's that the SS person on our team felt our student had to see. Fun times on the middle school level.

I love that you have rides all picked out. I need to get my head back in the game and do some more planning. I can't wait to go on the haunted mansion again. Last trip my kids were too scared to try it. This year I've been promised I'll have some company on it. Silly question: Is Spectro every night in June?

Jackie I thought about you last night while DH and I were watching the most recent Mummy movie. LOL

Yummmmm Brendan Fraser

Hey CP! The tut exhibit looks cool! We went in the 80s in Chicago and I was just about 5 or 6. I have loved archaeology and egyptian stories every since. Have you ever read the Amelia Peabody mysteries by Elizabeth Peters? They are great fun and filled with all things mummified and antiquefied! :thumbsup2

And I love your ride list for MK! I'm so looking foward to your trip!!

I have read all of the Amelia Peabody mysteries!!! I love them! My mom introduced them to me when I was about in the 7th grade so I have been following Amelia, Emerson, and Ramses for over 20 years! Elizabeth Peters did a talk and book signing a few years back here in ATL and my mom and I went to it. She is just exactly the way you would imagine!

Just got around to reading your King Tut mini-TR...it must have been amazing!

I can't remember the last time we did MK on the first day of the trip....we usually go to Epcot....I'm guessing because our vacations usually start on Saturdays.

The nice thing about the Park Hoppers, of course, is that if its too crowded in one park, you can always switch. :thumbsup2

We may wind up staying at the villas at AKL, so I'm excited for you and looking forward to reading about it in your report!

Kathy

Our vacation will start on a Saturday this year, so I am definitely leaning towards Epcot for our first night. The more I look at my plans, the more I think that park hoppers are going to be a necessity.

AKL is such a dream come true for me -- I can't wait!

Jackie,
I have started a pre-trip for my March trip, just to get my feet wet! Since you were my very first trip report to read:goodvibes I'm sending you an invite!

I headed over there and you are off to a great start! :goodvibes

Love your MK must do list Jackie!:goodvibes I am concerned about MK crowds too because of Space and TTA being closed! SUCH A BUMMER! I would go for the PH tickets because of DHS...did you change anything with your dining? I hope Mike comes out with his days in a timely manner!:thumbsup2

I haven't changed anything with my dining yet -- I get to make ADRs on March 8th so I have a little bit more time to think about them.

Ah, the smell of cannonfire.

And Jack Sparrow appearing at random.

God, I love POTC.

Thanks for another great chapter! I love these lists of favorites / must dos, it's just great. :goodvibes

I love POTC, too -- every last bit of it right down to the hairs on the pirate's legs. :rotfl:

Oh, was it at the Carlos Museum? We are members there and love it -- with 110 middle schoolers, though? Probably not so much.

Chelsea hates HM but will ride it -- Connor loves it. No hours or schedules have been posted yet for June, but I have been looking at the last week of May and Spectro is only running on certain nights. As the summer crowds start rolling in, I imagine they might add more nights.

:rotfl: Is it any good? I haven't seen the last one, but love the first one (the second one not so much). Brendan Fraser as a smart-aleck fortune hunter is the best!

Yes and it was great fun, except for the times I was praying please do not let anyone touch anything unless told it is OK. I keep telling my husband I want to go back sometime and just enjoy, without the responsiblity of keeping and eye on my students.

It was very good! There were parts of it where the acting was so-so but DH and I really enjoyed it. There's are some really fun lines in the movie.

The hairs on the pirates legs?!? :lmao: Thank goodness they aren't showing any shirtless backs.......:scared1:

Hey Jackie---Happy Valentine's Day.....a day late but not a dollar short!!! Have a great Sunday!

Heyyy just got a chance to read your MK must do list...everything sounds so good! I'm really disappointed that TTA and Space Mountain will be down though. I read that Space is going to be down until late November! :sad2: I'm sure it will be great once it's finished but thats a longgg time to be down for.

Hope you all had a good valentine's day, did you and Charles get to do anything special?

It's hard to truly enjoy all the displays when you are wondering if someone is going to back into a priceless statue! :scared:

I need to see it then, without a doubt -- one of the things I loved best about The Mummy were some of the lines.

Happy Valentine's Day to you, too, Jen! Hope you had a lovely Sunday as well!

Chelsea and Charles are pretty disappointed about Space Mountain -- I am curious what the changes will be!

Charles and I decided to just stay home yesterday -- we figured it would be madness out and about. I made lasagna and red velvet cupcakes for dinner.

What did you and Chris do for V-Day?

Thank you! I was thinking the same thing about Henry today when I was reading your updates -- he has changed a lot just in between your two trips!

Yes, he changed a TON between the trips. I imagine by the time I start my PTR for the December trip it'll be another drastic change. I can't believe he'll be two when we go again.

I love your ride list! I'm a BIG fan of the thrill rides, BTMRR being one of them! :yay: But I'm with you on Stitch...it's just wrong. We only did Splash back in 2006, we aren't huge on getting wet and dripping around the parks. But, I suspect once Henry is old enough to realize what the ride is, we'll be riding it! I remember LOVING water rides as a kid! The wetter the better!

We saw a ton of construction going on in Tomorrowland from the TTA in January. I *think* it's a Stitch live show, so if Connor likes Stitch this might be fun! (or at least slightly less painful than the "ride")

It will be whole new experience taking a 2-year-old -- it will be so fun to see what he thinks about everything. :goodvibes

We love water rides, but then, going in June, it is always so hot and the water is usually a welcome relief.

Now that would be fun and so much better than sitting trapped in a seat while Stitch burps at us. :lmao:

And the muddy foot hanging over you as you go under that bridge? :lmao:

Yes! That was actually the leg I was thinking of when I wrote it!

I love the hairy legs and muddy feet too! Boy do I wind up writing some odd sentences while DIS'ing! :rotfl:

:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: Only on the DIS. ;)

ok, what have I missed??? It looks like theres been a resort change!

Great ideas for MK! I absolutely love that park! It's my FAVorite! But Epcot is very close by. My DH prefers Animal Kingdom! It's hard for us to narrow things down- because there is so much we haven't done, want to do, have done-but must do.. hehe that its kind of crazy.. but someday i will be like you! hehe ;) Also, when DH found out about space mountain.. he said "Thats stupid, we mise well not go" haha I was wow.. I thought I was upset.. but I'm not to upset- to not go.. hehe

Let's see -- we went to the King Tut exhibit and I changed to Animal Kingdom Lodge when a savannah view room finally opened up! That about sums it up! ;)

Those were almost Charles's exact words about going to the Magic Kingdom when I told him about Space Mountain. I just gave him the one raised eyebrow look that basically says to him, "Don't be an idiot!" :rotfl:

Chelsea asked me today which park is my favorite, and you know, I don't think I can narrow it down -- I love them all for different reasons. :goodvibes

Connor liking Stitch has helped me somewhat.

My opinion, for what little it is worth: I think Disney could have done something a thousand times better with this attraction, and I hope they will do so with the live show. Having said that, knowing that little guys like Connor are quite happy with Stitch's Great Escape helps me realize that there are things there for everyone, and they can't all be our favorites.

I think Stitch is a cute little fellow, and I'm hoping the new thing will be something a lot more people will really enjoy.

CP -every time I see you write about staying at AKL, I get excited all over again for you! That will probably be the second deluxe we stay at, when we can do that someday. Wilderness Lodge will have to be our first, because Trent has wanted to stay there ever since he first laid eyes on that place.

One of our secretaries at school is going with her three daughters this summer, and they're staying at AKL. She doesn't know anything about it - she's just letting the daughters (college-aged) do the planning. I told her she was going in style! I don't think she really realized it. She's just putting in what they told her her share of the money is every month to pay it off. Since she really doesn't know what she's in for, I'm more excited about her trip than she is right now! :)

A little info on the coming Stitch attraction:

From MousePlanet:

Stitch's SuperSonic Celebration, "a high-energy, retro-futuristic music video dance party that features Stitch, an interactive dance troupe, and a DJ celebration host who’s inviting all Walt Disney World guests to come party, dance and celebrate," will eventually take place in this large area beginning this spring.

It reminds me a little of the dance parties they have at the hard-ticket parties (MNSSHP, MVMCP, and P&P.)
