Got Pixie Dust? A June 2009 PTR ~TR Link, Page 180

Your "ride plans" sound like fun! :woohoo:

The only ride that I will really never go on again is the ToT...on a trip in September of '07, my aunt and uncle and their kids wore me down and I did it, and let me tell you, I thought they were going to have to get a wheelchair and carry me out of there - my legs were like jelly when it stopped!! :scared1: The picture they took was pretty funny though, and I considered buying it - the kids and everyone around me have their arms up in the air, and I have a death grip on the bar in front of me. I'm not a fan of drops - I don't mind going fast, backward, etc, but those drops make me want to puke.

But on the plus side, now I can say I've done it and I don't have to do it again! :wizard:

I'm glad I am not the only one who tenses up on the drop on Pirates. I love the ride but the drop makes me freak each time. I won't do Splash though. I have done it exactly one time and I don't care to repeat it. I remember loving everything before the big drop but it's just not worth it to me. Eeek!

Sounds like you have a lot to get accomplished on your MK days! I think you can do it all. :thumbsup2

I always tell myself, "There isn't a safety bar. If it was dangerous, there would be a safety bar" on both POTC and Splash Mountain. Come to think of it, I tell myself that on Maelstrom, too! :rotfl:

Fast Pass will be our best friend on our full day. I figure on that Saturday, we should be able to do Adventureland, Frontierland, and Liberty Square. Then, on the full day, we can do Fantasyland, Mickey's Toontown, and Tomorrowland. I am also thinking on the Saturday that we leave, we can go to MK until early afternoon. I am leaving that day open for wherever we want to go.

I have a similar story about Tower of Terror when I get to the DHS updates in April. I am torn about ever doing that ride again. Part of me wants to do it -- and part of me wants to go running and screaming away from it right down Sunset Boulevard. :lmao:

Sounds like a bunch of favorites all around!!! We can't figure out the PH decision or not either----man, how I wish they were just included like the OLD tickets......that would save the headache!!!

You're telling me! I do miss those days when it was just a given that if you bought a multi-day ticket, you could park hop.

I have a new dilemma -- I was looking at the best days on the unofficial guide's website, and the Saturday we arrive is the Gay Days MK day -- I don't care about that, but I am thinking crowds will be crazy! So now I have another thing to consider in all of my planning conundrums! Grrr.

I understand your dilemma....I think we had a similar problem last year. We didn't care about the event either, we just tried to avoid the parks they had designated as their official park of the day simply because it would make sense that those parks would be slightly more infused with crowds on those days. I think it is definitely something to keep in consideration!

That's what we were thinking too but now I am wondering if everyone is thinking that and therefore avoiding that park making it less crowded???
We can hope can't we??
I seem to remember reading in the UG that crowd levels aren't affected that much by GD. My book is loaned out right now so I can't check.

Now I get the love of the Doombuggies and the Stretching room and ballroom dancing ghosts, put me on that ride at midnight and its like heaven for me. However, stick me on a log ride where at the end it starts to tell you that you should be turning around but hahahahaha you can't...I freak out...even I don't get it LOL!! So I love me some Haunted Mansion but Splash Mountain yeah I was okay with it being closed for refurb, just listening to its soundtrack freaks me out LOL

Sounds like you have a great plan for Magic Kingdom!!!!!!

Have you all explored Tom Sawyer's Island before?

I really need to start getting my head focused on our trip and making sure things are planned out fairly well. I've just been so distracted by life!

I started reworking the Day Chart this morning, and now I am thinking maybe we will go to Epcot that Saturday -- dinner at Tangierine Cafe, Tangierine Daquiris, ride a few rides...it might be the perfect start to the vacation.

I need to go look that up in my Unofficial Guide -- I wondered that, too, about the crowds, but then I start thinking it will probably be a Spectro night and how many people are as obsessive as we are and won't know about GD and will still head to the MK. Too many things to consider.

Do you ride Kali, Jen? The vultures always freak me out, too, on Splash -- it is the vultures, isn't it, that tell you to turn back? That drop happens so fast though and then you get the great riverboat celebration scene with everyone singing and dancing. Love it!

Charles and I explored it in 1995, but the kids have never been. I think they would have a blast -- especially Connor and especially if we watch Tom and Huck before we go. I am just thinking how hot and humid it would be. Yick!

You are getting so close to your trip -- it will fly by once you start putting stickers on your countdown calendar!

Umm Yeah those vultures always mess with my head!! I will ride Kali it's not as intimidating to me as Splash is...just something about that music that gets me I just don't handle it well!! Someday though I might get on it again LOL!!!! It will also help if its hot outside LOL

I'm a bit late, but the Tut exhibit sounds fascinating. I'm so wishing that I lived anywhere remotely near an easy driving distance from Atlanta. Sadly no.

The MK musts sound great. I haven't been to Tom Sawyer's Island since I think my very first visit to MK. I"m thinking I need to go and check it out this trip.

The MK day sounds good but based on the Gay Day information for that day I think I'd pass due to crowds.

I think Epcot would be a nice start to your vacation. That's what we did our first day and we really enjoyed just walking around and getting the lay of the land. It was our first trip so it was a nice to just be there and soaking up the ambiance. I know it's not your first trip but after a long drive something relaxing would be a good way to start out.

sounds like a great plan so far.. but I would be concerend with the crowds too... if you haven't already, you must do the jungle cruise also at night we had soo much!

Hot is always a plus on Splash Mountain. :thumbsup2

It was fascinating. I got all my photos from Shutterfly this week, so I am hoping to scrapbook it this weekend -- I found some really cool stickers to go with it!

The only think I am worried about on Tom Sawyer's Island are the caves -- I tend to get claustrophobic and I could see myself freaking out in them.

I was mentioning to Charles yesterday about doing Epcot instead when we arrive -- we could just wander around World Showcase with drinks in head and maybe last until Illuminations. :thumbsup2

The Jungle Cruise at night is the best! We love doing that! Connor's first ride was at night and he fell in love with it!

Hey CP! The tut exhibit looks cool! We went in the 80s in Chicago and I was just about 5 or 6. I have loved archaeology and egyptian stories every since. Have you ever read the Amelia Peabody mysteries by Elizabeth Peters? They are great fun and filled with all things mummified and antiquefied! :thumbsup2

And I love your ride list for MK! I'm so looking foward to your trip!!

Just got around to reading your King Tut mini-TR...it must have been amazing!

I can't remember the last time we did MK on the first day of the trip....we usually go to Epcot....I'm guessing because our vacations usually start on Saturdays.

The nice thing about the Park Hoppers, of course, is that if its too crowded in one park, you can always switch. :thumbsup2

We may wind up staying at the villas at AKL, so I'm excited for you and looking forward to reading about it in your report!

Kathy

Jackie,
I have started a pre-trip for my March trip, just to get my feet wet! Since you were my very first trip report to read:goodvibes I'm sending you an invite!

Love your MK must do list Jackie!:goodvibes I am concerned about MK crowds too because of Space and TTA being closed! SUCH A BUMMER! I would go for the PH tickets because of DHS...did you change anything with your dining? I hope Mike comes out with his days in a timely manner!:thumbsup2

Ah, the smell of cannonfire.

And Jack Sparrow appearing at random.

God, I love POTC.

Thanks for another great chapter! I love these lists of favorites / must dos, it's just great. :goodvibes
