Got Pixie Dust? A June 2009 PTR ~TR Link, Page 180

Nah. I keep trying to figure out a job for DH in Orlando when he gets out of school in a year! :lmao:

I keep wishing we could move to Orlando, too! Florida residents get good discounts at Disney! ;)

Hope you and your family had a happy Halloween, I hope you post up some pictures! :goodvibes

We had a great time! How about you? I have lots of various photos to share -- I am planning on a huge update later today.

Hi!

I'm so far behind, I don't know where I left off! So, what's new?

Hi, Cherie! Nothing much -- most importantly it is still over 7 months before we go back to WDW  ! How was Ohio?

I showed Scooby Doo's Scariest Stories.....How was that for good teaching?:scared1:

Hey, I can justify showing just about anything in the classroom -- you could do a lesson about formulaic storylines for Scooby-Doo. :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Sadly Halloween is over for another year, but to ease the pain of parting, here are photos of some of the things we did this year.

On October 11, we had my SIL and her family, my MIL and her husband over to make Halloween cookies and eat chili. It was tons of fun, but I learned something new: it is possible to spend $36 on sprinkles! Who would have thought???

Chelsea gets a sheet of cookies ready for the oven.

Connor and his cousin decorate. In case you are wondering, it is always best to strip Connor down to just his shorts when frosting is involved.

The finished products. Not quite Martha Stewart quality, but fun to do nonetheless. SIL and I did however insist that our cookies remain separate from the kids'.

Our Halloween outing this year was to head down to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens to see their display of Scarecrows in the Garden. We went with my mom and dad, and there were over 100 scarecrows done by local businesses and groups! It was one of the neatest things we have done.

Not a scarecrow, but you know my children's penchant for sitting with inanimate objects. Look at the possessive arm that Chelsea has looped around the frog.

One of my favorites: the Indiana Jones scarecrow.

The light was kind of weird that day.

My kids had to ham it up! They crack me up!

This scarecrow was made of completely recycled products.

My sick sense of humor loved this one!

More hamming it up around the gardens.

Another one of my favorites. This was done by the Carlos Museum which has a beautiful collection of Egyptian artifacts. They are also hosting the King Tut exhibit that opens next month here in Atlanta.

One last picture before we left.

For Halloween, Chelsea had declared that she would not be dressing up. At the last minute she decided that she wanted to go as a baby, so we bought new pajamas for her, and she borrowed a teddy bear from her grandmother.

Connor wanted to go as his version of the Headless Horseman -- meaning he wanted to wear a pumpkin mask, all black, and a cape.

My darlings.

Hope everyone had a great Halloween!

Great update! The gardens with the scarecrows are so cool, I've never seen anything like that. Your kids are too cute, hamming it up for the camera. That picture of the Atlanta skyline is amazing! :thumbsup2 The cookies came out really good too, so creative :wizard: And your kids looked great, even Chelsea's last minute costume is adorable. (I wouldn't call Connor's costume adorable, more of a "halloweeny-adorable" :rotfl: )

Love the photos of your little hams!

And thanks for explaining the Conner frosting photo -I was wondering. ;)

Your cookies look yummy. Seems like you guys are always cooking up something delish in your house! I want to move in!!!

Thank you! We had a lot of fun in October -- I am so bummed that I had to pack up all the Halloween decorations -- it is my favorite holiday of the year. The Atlanta picture was actually my mom's idea -- I was getting ready to walk down the steps when she stopped me and pointed out what a great photo it would make.

Love the photos of your little hams!

Thanks! Yeah, Connor really gets into frosting cookies -- if you look closely, he already has a smear of black frosting across his belly in that picture. I have another one where he is licking frosting off his arm like a cat.

Baking is a big thing at our house :goodvibes -- I am getting ready to bake an election day cake later this afternoon for Tuesday night -- nothing too fancy, but I figured we would need sugar while watching the results come in, and I have some Fourth of July sprinkles that I can use.

Jackie,
I love Halloween too! I hang an old dead tree branch from the ceiling in my classroom and then stretch the store bought spider webbing all over it. My students make spiders from spray painted (black) foam balls and pipe cleaners. I hot glue a scary picture of their face to the body and then hang them from the tree with plastic fishing line.........They love it! Plus it doesn't scream Halloween for the students that can't celebrate the holiday:confused3

cute, cute, cute pictures!! The cookies look so yummy. The scarecrows in the gardens was great!

Funny...I didn't think anything of Connor being stripped down to shorts for the frosting process. My DD6 is pretty much nekked all the time, just because she's always hot!

The cookies are great, and so are the costumes. The kids are at fun ages - big enough to do a lot on their own and young enough to not think it's dorky to do stuff with Mom.

Thanks for sharing the scarecrow pictures with us. I remember when you said you were going/went, but it's nice seeing it all in pictures.

Are you guys planning to go to the King Tut exhibit?

That's my boys, too. I'll have on sweatpants, a heavy shirt, and be under a blanket, and they're walking around in gym shorts and no shirts trying to figure out what's wrong with me.

I will add to my previous post by saying that even though there is a period of time the kids think mom stuff is beneath them, they secretly still like it, and they eventually come back to admitting that. :)

What, no hanging upside down bat pictures? ;)

Your kids are seriously cute!

I thought of you today while I was at Trader Joe's. I bought these "inside out" carrot cake thingys. Basically they are carrot cake cookies with frosting in between. SO YUMMY.

Your kids are so cute! The gardens look really pretty-what a fun afternoon.

The cookies look YUMMY!

Great cookies! You're all so artistic. :thumbsup2

Where are the Botanical Gardens? It looks like something we need to check out next time we're in Atlanta.

Okay Jackie! I'm all caught up on your PTR! :cool1:

First off - congrats to you and your dh for quitting smoking!

I've been to Wilderness Lodge just once to eat dinner, but we loved the lobby. :goodvibes

The binder looks great! And wow - 3 different outfits! Binders are really come up in the world, aren't they? :D

The Scarecrows were so cool! I love stuff like that. :thumbsup2

Now I need to get caught up on your TR. :rolleyes1

Oh boo-I can't see your update's pictures from here at work.

That does it. I need to quit, then. It's interfering with my DIS experience.

Those cookies looked great! What a nice Halloween! I got to go to a party with 30 hormone inraged teenagers on 4 wheelers and singing karaoke. (Not at the same time.) Good times.

Love, love, love the update! The pictures from the garden are so much fun, and the kids dressed for Halloween and making cookies: too cute!

Thanks for lifting my spirits with those sweet, smiling faces. :goodvibes
