Got Pixie Dust? A June 2009 PTR ~TR Link, Page 180

Those scarecrows are great! What a fun place to go! The pictures are so much fun to see.

Those cookies look delicious and artistic...good combo!

Hey! I followed you over from MeMom's TR. Your kids are too cute! I laughed so much at their penchant for posing with inanimate objects, because we do the same thing, but we are a bit older. ;)

Those cookies look great...I wouldn't want to eat them. :rotfl:

Jackie,
I love Halloween too! I hang an old dead tree branch from the ceiling in my classroom and then stretch the store bought spider webbing all over it. My students make spiders from spray painted (black) foam balls and pipe cleaners. I hot glue a scary picture of their face to the body and then hang them from the tree with plastic fishing line.........They love it! Plus it doesn't scream Halloween for the students that can't celebrate the holiday:confused3

What a cute idea! Sometimes I wish I taught elementary school so I could do those kinds of fun things with the students!

cute, cute, cute pictures!! The cookies look so yummy. The scarecrows in the gardens was great!

Thank you! I don't the cookies lasted through the next day -- we ate them fast!

Funny...I didn't think anything of Connor being stripped down to shorts for the frosting process. My DD6 is pretty much nekked all the time, just because she's always hot!

Connor does have a hard time keeping his shirt on when he is home -- even if it is cold, he strips off his shirt and then wanders around the house wrapped in a blanket. :confused3

The cookies are great, and so are the costumes. The kids are at fun ages - big enough to do a lot on their own and young enough to not think it's dorky to do stuff with Mom.

Thanks for sharing the scarecrow pictures with us. I remember when you said you were going/went, but it's nice seeing it all in pictures.

Are you guys planning to go to the King Tut exhibit?

Thanks! Chelsea and Connor are at a fun age, but I am pretty sure that I have said that about every age they have been so far -- when does my luck run out on that one?

We are planning on going to the King Tut exhibit -- it opens November 15 and runs until May 23. We got our tickets for the beginning of February -- crowds should have died down a little, and it is something to look forward to after all the holidays. I am so excited -- I love Egyptian stuff!

That's my boys, too. I'll have on sweatpants, a heavy shirt, and be under a blanket, and they're walking around in gym shorts and no shirts trying to figure out what's wrong with me.

I will add to my previous post by saying that even though there is a period of time the kids think mom stuff is beneath them, they secretly still like it, and they eventually come back to admitting that. :)

I remember still secretly liking to do things with my parents, but NEVER wanting to actually admit it! :rotfl:

What, no hanging upside down bat pictures? ;)

Your kids are seriously cute!

I thought of you today while I was at Trader Joe's. I bought these "inside out" carrot cake thingys. Basically they are carrot cake cookies with frosting in between. SO YUMMY.

No bats today, just spider victims. :lmao: Those carrot cake cookies sound awesome! I may have to go find a carrot cake cookie recipe!

Your kids are so cute! The gardens look really pretty-what a fun afternoon.

The cookies look YUMMY!

Thank you! We did have a fun time at the gardens except when Chelsea got mad at her grandfather -- but you notice I didn't mention that in the update! :lmao:

Great cookies! You're all so artistic. :thumbsup2

Where are the Botanical Gardens? It looks like something we need to check out next time we're in Atlanta.

They are down near Piedmont Park -- it seems like they always have something going on -- their Christmas events looked fun, too -- when we got turned around in downtown Atlanta that same day, we ended up in that new Atlantic Station area -- that looked really neat. I want to go back and spend more time there.

Okay Jackie! I'm all caught up on your PTR! :cool1:

First off - congrats to you and your dh for quitting smoking!

I've been to Wilderness Lodge just once to eat dinner, but we loved the lobby. :goodvibes

The binder looks great! And wow - 3 different outfits! Binders are really come up in the world, aren't they? :D

The Scarecrows were so cool! I love stuff like that. :thumbsup2

Now I need to get caught up on your TR. :rolleyes1

Yeay! I am so glad that you are all caught up!!! Take your time on the TR -- it's not going anywhere! :goodvibes

Oh boo-I can't see your update's pictures from here at work.

That does it. I need to quit, then. It's interfering with my DIS experience.

We CANNOT have work interfering with your DIS experience! :lmao:

Those cookies looked great! What a nice Halloween! I got to go to a party with 30 hormone inraged teenagers on 4 wheelers and singing karaoke. (Not at the same time.) Good times.

Thank you!

I laughed out loud at the image of teenagers riding four wheelers while singing. :lmao:

Did you have to spend the rest of the weekend recovering?

Love, love, love the update! The pictures from the garden are so much fun, and the kids dressed for Halloween and making cookies: too cute!

Thanks for lifting my spirits with those sweet, smiling faces. :goodvibes

Ahhh, I am so glad that my little ones could lift your spirits! :goodvibes

Those cookies look delicious and artistic...good combo!

Thank you! I don't know about artistic -- some of them were definitely leaning toward the abstract look -- I will tell you that SIL banished some of my cookies to the "not-pretty" platters so I had to start eating mine as I finished them to avoid any more damage to my self-esteem. :rotfl2:

:welcome: I am so glad you came over! I am actually pretty thrilled to hear that you guys still are posing with the inanimate objects because those are usually my favorite pictures of Chelsea and Connor, and now I can hold out hope that they won't outgrow it! :thumbsup2

Very cute pictures of the scarecrows.....very Disney-like!

What? A birthday party?

And here I am with no present!
Aww, man!

Didn't know today was a big day for anyone, but now that I do know, here's a little something sweet for you! :cake:

It can be whatever kind you'd like. Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting is sounding pretty good, but you might rather it be chocolate.

Of course there's always Italian Creme, Heath Bar, German Chocolate, Strawberry, Pea Pickin' (which, contrary to it's name, contains no peas) , Apple Spice, Gooey Butter....

Just make it just whatever kind you like best, and then pretend I made it for ya! :)

Hope your day has been/will continue to be a good one! :bday:

I'm still recovering. Two teenagers is my limit!!

I hear ya -- unstructured time with adolescents usually leaves me wiped out, too!

It was our poor man version of MNSSHP this year.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CP!!!

Thank you! I am focusing on the party part and not the age part. :lmao:

Thank you, MeMom! You make really delicious cakes -- I am sure of that! :goodvibes

Okay, I thought I was a good Southerner but I have never heard of Pea Pickin' -- what's that one like?

Happy Birthday, Jackie! I hope all your students were angelic today and that you get EVERYTHING you wish for!
party: :bday: party:

Okay, I thought I was a good Southerner but I have never heard of Pea Pickin' -- what's that one like?

It's a yellow cake with mandarin oranges in it. Do a search and you'll find the recipe. It's one that I was introduced to by Barbara Mandrell at something we did at school a long time ago. It's a good holiday time cake - something a little different.

Also, I forgot these cakes: hummingbird, lemon, dump, coffee, pound, spice, lemon....

I might have baked a cake or two in my life.

I hope you had a nice day. (I've got a cousin whose daughter celebrated her birthday today, too.)

Thank you! We did have a fun time at the gardens except when Chelsea got mad at her grandfather -- but you notice I didn't mention that in the update! :lmao:

:rotfl: We'll just pretend it didn't happen...;)

I was gonna ask that too, but was afraid to show my Yankee!

It's a yellow cake with mandarin oranges in it.

Yum! That sounds gooooooood.

We've always called that "pig pickin' cake". :confused3

Mmmmm...I love dump cake!

Hi, Happy Belated Birthday!!!! :bday:

Came over from MeMoms TR. :flower1:

Thanks again for the heads up, maybe the discount will work for you too!! :thumbsup2

I know have to catch up on your TR's ;)

Your family should be so lucky to have been brainwashed Disney style.

I can fully relate to name brand clothes I have a "Prince" for a teenager who will only wear the finest.

My DD8 shares your DS's love of Pokemon. Her fondest memory of Epcot was the store in Japan where she spent a fortune on plushie Pokemon. She would have never left if I didn't drag her out....:rotfl2:

Psst. I always liked your avatar with the princess mickey head. princess:
