Well, for the first time, we stayed on property at Port Orleans Riverside. We did get there early a little past 12:30PM. Kept checking back in as they asked, every half hour. And every half hour they said wait another half hour. Okie dokie. That got old after a little over three hours. Hubby was tired as we came straight from him getting back in from an overnight run from N. Carolina. He drives for Salem Freight. So he so wanted to get to room, shave, jump in the pool then shower and relax.
So after waiting for over 3 hours, I asked one last time getting the same answer. So, then I talked with a manager I had seen walking around for our 3 hours of waiting. I told him when we got in, that I realized I was early, but explained it was our anniversary trip, hubby was tired and wanted to freshen up, and this was our first time staying on property. he said to give him a minute. In pretty much that much time, he came back and said our room was ready. Now that's service!!
Woo hoo...!
So we got everything into our room, and there was a Mickey head shaped basket filled with goodies and a crad that said, Sill Celebrating the Magic. SO nice. We then settled in and changed into our swim suits. We were so looking forward to our cool refreshing dip. Not what we got. The water was so warm. It did feel better once we got in for a bit. But it actually felt better when we got out, sat down in the lounge chairs. And as the breeze blew it felt great!! LOL!
After getting caught up for the week chatting, since hubby is gone on the road most of the time,we went back to our room and showered. We were trying to decide where to eat. We decided we wanted to see illuminations our first night. So we called the front desk to see what was available for dinner at EPCOT. I want to go to Rose & Crown as they have this FAB salad I had last time I went. But they were booked solid. But an old fav germany was open. So we chose that.
Made our way to EPCOT. Making our way to Germany spotting pin lanyards as we went. Got to Germany just in time and there was quite a line at the podium. Finally got in and settled and enjoyed a delicious meal as always.
Got done with dinner just in time to get a great seat and see Illuminations. It was the best as always! Afterwards as we were walking out of world showcase, we stopped for a few minutes at the spot where we met, and had our yearly anniversary picture made. Oh I for got to mention, this was our 21st wedding anniversary trip. Anyway, this spot is very special to us. We stop and kiss here everytime we're at EPCOT. And do a picture every year for our anniversary.
We then left and headed for DTD as hubby had to get me a gift. He hadn't had a chance to shop for me yet. And as always he's famous for doing it at the last minute. This was his latest yet!!
We then headed back to our resort as we were both tired and knew we had a big day ahead of us.
I woke up EARRRRRLY, about 4AM I just could not sleep. Have no idea why. So I played on my lap top for about an hour, got back in bed and slept for about another hour and a half. Got up a little before 7AM, so did hubby. We got fressed and went down to food court for a nice early breakfast. This food court has so many offerings. It was wonderful. And everything tasted good too.
Then we were off to the MK. We got there a little before 8:30AM. I could not believe the crowd that was already there. WOW!! We got to see the park opening, that is always fun. Then we just mainly wandered around Main Street and went in most all of the shops. Just browsing and yes, looking at lanyards. That's always fun. We had some shots done on Main Street. They were ok, but hubby's eyes were shut for most. The sun was so bright.
We headed back to our resort a little after noon. We went and had a light lunch, as we knew we would be having a big meal at 1900 Park Faire that evening. The cam back to our room. Hubby took a nap and I played on my lap top again. Then I took a little nap my self.
We got up at about 4ish, and began to dress for dinner. We got to the GF a little before 6PM. Our ADR was for 6:40PM. So we went looking at all the shops, and checked out the tea room and what it had to offer. We had never tried it, so we went to the concierge and made an ADR for sundy afternoon. Hubby asked a very nice CM manager, DJ, DJ, if he could pick me some flowers out of the arrangements. DJ said, Help yourself. Hubby asked what if a CM said anything. DJ the said, "if they do, they have too much time on their hands". We just laughed. Hubby got me a pretty peach rose and a gorgeuos pink rose, my favorite. It was about 6:20, so I checked us in at 1900 and was given a "thingy". We sat down in lobby and enjoyed the live music. A little after 6:30PM our "thingy" went off and we were ready..and hungry!
Dinner here was just wonderful. Our server was Krista, and she was just the best. We had our pictures done with the Mice, Prince Charming and the Cinderella. We asked our server about getting our picture with both the Prince and Cindy. She said she'd see what she could do. A few minutes later a CM working with the characters invited us to come with her. She took us outside to the garden in front of the resort. Cinderella and her Prince met us. And we got some absolutely wonderful shots!! Including all four of us in the carriage out front. It was awesome!! A nice dose of MAGIC and Pixie Dust!
Then we went back inside to finish our dinner. In between dinner and dessert, hubby and I exchanged gifts. His made me cry. Then Krista brought out the cake I had ordered special. I got the idea for this cake from "seaspray". Only I had ours covered with buttercreme icing instead of the fondant. This cake was a work of art. It was just unbelievable!!! I have got to figure out how to post pictures. You have got to see this cake. It was delicious as well. We didn't even have any desserts from the buffet. This was BETTER!! It was white cakes layered with white choclate mouse and fresh raspberries. And there was so much, about 14 slices, so we shared it with other tables as well as our server and Cinderella and her Prince. What a great dinner and evening. It was the best!
After dinner, we were gonna do a carriage ride or pin trading at DTD, but it began to rain, so we just came back to our room and relaxed and watched a movie.
Sunday morning, we were in no rush to get up. So we slept in a bit. Got up and going around 8AM, and showered and packed our things up. After getting things in the car, we drove to the front of the resort, parked and went to have breakfast once more. Good as usual. We then finished up a survey we were asked to do. It was a daily diary of what we did and money spent. After you turn it in and fill out all pertinent info, you recieve a gift worth up to $25 in about 6 weeks. So we'll see.
Then we headed off to MK again for the morning and to see Scoop's 1 o'clock pin talk. We also had our photo's redone. they were so much better this time. Scoop was fun as usual. This is always fun to go to. Especially if you're into the pin thing of course.
We headed back to the GF for our tea at 3:20PM. Got in right away. This was very fun and yes even relaxing. The food was exquisit, and the tea itself was wonderful. We both love hot tea. I was very proud of my hbby too. He is a sweet lil ol red neck suthun boy who just loves grits gravey and biscuits. Well, when they brought out his tiny tea samiches he liked them just fine. Then they gave us Scones and he also had a strawberry tart. He loved the "strawberry pie"...lol, and he said "those biscuits and butter (scones and devonshire creme) were so good, that they could have kept them lil samiches and brought him about a dozen of them biscuits!" I just giggled. He is too cute!!
After tea, it was time to return to Daytona. Yup, this trip was coming to a close. BUMMER!!! For us it doesn't matter how many times we go. It's always like the first time. And we seem to always manage to find something we haven't done. That's always fun.
And we'll do it again in about a month when we return for my birthday.
This is my first trip report. Sorry it was long, but I do hope you enjoyed it. Feel free to ask questions. I'll answer them if I can.
Blessings,
Winnie
