Got a pin today and wasn't surprised

I had booked 8 nights at the BCV for 10/14 through 10/22 at rack rate, hoping that either an AP or GP rate would come out. After the AP rates came out last weekend and there being no availability there, I cancelled my reservation first thing this morning at 7:00am. While speaking to the CM I referenced how I had been hoping for a discount rate there, but since that wasn't likely, I didn't want to hold onto to the room, since someone else maybe able to afford rack rate.

At 9:32 am I received my pin email, Magical savings -up to 35% off deluxe rooms and villas. It's valid 9/18-11/18 and 11/26-12/22.

I will never book a room without a discount code again..I believe because i booked at rate rack, Disney didn't send me a fall pin code. I've fortunate since last year to have gotten at least 5 pin codes.

I hope this information helps someone, I've learned so much on the boards.

Unfortunately, the BCV is not available with my pin on my dates, but I may change my dates if I can find it. Wish me luck !

Btw, I've gotten pins after booking at rack rate. I don't know how to figure this Pin system out!

Although I wish you good luck, finding availability at BCV during F&W is going to be next to impossible at this point. I usually only have luck booking BCV if I can do it several months out (I booked a discounted BCV stay for next month way back in January!). I looked for BCV in December when the AP discounts came out, but nothing available there so I booked BWV instead. I like them both pretty much equally, except I prefer the parking situation at BCV.

BCV has been totally sold out for those dates long before the discounts came out. I'm not sure BCV has ever been available when I've looked. No chance of there being a discount for a resort thats booked solid.

Where do you want to stay? Discount is almost always better for a deluxe than FD. FD is usually better for Value, if the dining plan works for your family.

Being that it's so hard to figure out the pin system I bet it's a policy that has very loose guidelines where discretion of the CM's involved is in play.

I don't think there is anything to figure out with the PIN system. I think we all (including myself) keep thinking that there is some magic formula for getting a PIN when there isn't. I believe that the vast majority of the time it is random and is the luck of the draw.

It does however seem as though CMs have the ability to send out a PIN code under certain circumstances (like the OP's experience).

Pins system is beyond my understanding. The odd thing is that I get pins in several email addresses but never on the one that I use to book my trips with.

NOt sure there is a rhyme or reason with the pins. We had a full rack rate booked for POFQ and both my DH an myself got pins for the same time we already had booked.

I agree though, I will not stay at WDW without a discount. Although, that is becoming more and more difficult as my DD does not want to miss school so we are being limited to peak times. I have no problem staying off site though
