I have no idea. I think that I'll send them an email to see if they respond.

How are you guys finding the castle and monorail and all that fun stuff? I zoom in on WDW, and it gets fuzzy. I don't know what's what.

Is your screen resolution set high enough? The images of WDW are pretty clear, even fairly close up. The castle isn't terribly obvious unless you know where you're looking, since the view is straight on from above, but the monorail track should be easy to pick out (look for it at Epcot, where you can see it wind around the park; that's a good reference point).

P.S. We have a "Noah" too! :goodvibes

Anyone know how often they update their images?

I would love to see The Boardwalk area, MGM and Animal Kingdom in more detail.

I would like to know this, too. I located a family member's house up in MA, and the end of their street it still shows the empty lots where they were just beginning the contruction of a new sub-division. Those houses have been completed now for a few years, at least!

Oh my goodness! For the 2 people who posted about the mickey shaped head that's either a field or a pond, can you please post the coordinates?

About a year ago, when I first started using Google Earth, I saw a Mickey head in what looked to be a farmer field northeast of WDW. It didn't look like it was actually in WDW, so I thought it was really cute that someone would go to all that trouble. Of course, I looked at it 2 or 3 times, and I've never ever been able to find it since. I must have searched all over the entire state of FL just about every week since then...and I still can't find it again! It's been driving me crazy...has anyone seen this besides me?

The one I was referring to looks like a pond at the raceway. The coordinates are listed as follows when I put the pointer over it:

28 degrees 23' 46.40" N
81 degrees 34' 42.40" W

How can I find the Monorail repair building at Disney.

That would be cool to see.

I'm new to Google Earth tonight, and I'm not getting a clear enough image to follow the tracks. Maybe I need to learn a few more tricks about using this web site? Or is it my dial-up ..... seems like I can get a good photo if I wait for all the streaming? (Do I need to do this at work with a faster internet connection?)

Thanks

so far Ive found

If you look into World Showcase Lagoon, follow the waterway off to the east, past the bridge by China, you will see the backstage "dry dock" area, and if you look carefully you will find the IllumiNations Globe, docked and opened.

Also, if you turn on a few layers (Google Earth Community, Community Showcase) you will get "home made" markers that help point out points of interest.

Finally, you can add your own personal markers, like the Magic Kingdom, so you can always return to the interesting things that you have found.

In addition at most of the Disney Parks, I have hunted and found things like the Eiffel Tower, the Pyramids, Golden Gate Bridge, Statue of Jesus (In Rio), the Colosseum (in Rome), really neat, educational, and mostly addicting!

It can make you Crazy LOL

markstudy - The monorail depot (my term) can be found at:
+28° 25' 32.56", -81° 34' 43.35"

I just had way too much fun with google earth! I could never download it because I had Windows 98 on the old computer. It is awesome. We think we found Dumbo and Cinderellas Carousal.

There's one at 28 degrees 27' 08" N, 81 degrees 42' 13" W, just off of Route 27, south of Clermont. :wave2:

Hong Kong Disney appears to be a bunch of dirt and construction.
22 18 N - 114 02 E

I believe that the barges used for the Electric Water Pageant can be found at:
+28° 25' 2.81", -81° 35' 12.58"

For those of you who don't know what EWP is... At 9 or 10 pm each (most?) nights the barges go around the lagoon fairly close to the shore at the Contemporary, Grand Floridian and Polynesian. Music plays from the barges, while images (dragon, octupus, flags, fireworks, other stuff) appear on the screens on the barges. The music is fairly loud, and you can hear it in your room when you stay at CR. I have some pics if anyone wants to see them.

I just installed Google Earth tonight and it is SO cool! But, it's giving me a bit of motion sickness!

I wonder when the images were taken. I looked at the Poly and it looks like there is a fence and some sort of equipment on the garden side of the Fiji longhouse. I remember this exact set-up when we stayed at the Poly in Fall 2002 while that longhouse was being re-furbished. We were staying in Aotearoa and saw (and heard!) the work being done. But I know the Fiji longhouse was just updated with the new decor so maybe the image is recent? But the water in 20,000 leagues is still in the MK image. :confused3

I did the same thing!! I was looking all over the world. Did you see the Sphynx? Amazing!

I started out looking in Italy as I've vacationed there a couple times. Started at the Colosseum (everyone try it! Just type in Colosseum and it'll take you right there) and no luck typing in names of other places in Rome but luckily I remembered my way around the city and was able to find Piazza Navona, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, the Forums, Circus Maximus, a hotel we stayed in, LOL! Then I looked up Capri and Ischia - found our hotel in Ischia and the Aragonese Castle. Makes me wanna go back to Italy SO bad!

Oh and look at Mt. Vesuvius. If you go to "Naples" you can't miss it - you can see right down into the crater.

I'm probably being watched by the government now, LOL. My cousin was stationed in Italy at a NATO base but anything she needed done, she had to go to the naval base in Gaeta. The base is on this very cool mountain with an interesting story that the mountain split when Jesus was crucified. The entrance was never open when we were there so I never got to see the split, so I looked it up. But to find it, I had to find the base and follow the road, LMAO! So I was zoomed in on the naval base looking around. I know I'm being watched now, LMAO!

I'm downloading it now. I am still using dial-up :confused3 I hope I can get it to work. I need a little Disney fix right now.
