Let me start by saying that one week before we were supposed to leave my youngest son breaks his leg on the old Trampoline, you know the one that my Mom told me to get rid of because..."One of the kids will break something"...Why don't we listen to our Moms, I guess the same reason my kids don't listen to me. Well, should we go or not that was the question, and of course the answer was.. we are going. My youngest is 5 and he wanted to go and he was the one in the cast. So we were in search of a double stroller that would let us lay down the first seat so that he could ride with his full leg cast in comfort. We found it the day before we had to leave, it was a life saver. And this was going to be our first trip without a stroller, I guess I shouldn't have dreamed about that one huh.
We decide to make the drive from Dallas. First we had an appointment to refinace our house and so we left from there on Thursday May 1st. Headed for the Dolphin Resort just 20 short hours away.
We were rolling in the old minivan you know the one that goes zoom zoom. DVD player blasting,... kids with new movies fighting over which one got to watch what first..as if we didn't have 20 hours to watch everything over and over.
Snacks packed, how come you can't even get out of your town on a trip before you have to dig into the old snack bag, like you were starving and hadn't had food in months. Wrappers were flying, and food or should I say junk was being consumed by the tons.
But who cares were on vacation..and Disney was in sight, at least mentally.
We decide to go a different way than usual this trip and head through Mississippi, we stop and ask a security guard at the Mississippi welcome center if Highway 49 is a good road to travel on and he says "yea itsa good roaaaad", I say does it have a lot of stop lights..He says "oh its got stoplights but once you get past them there aren't any more until you get to the next one...you should go there..itsa good roooaaad". So off we went to 49. It wasn't bad, there were stoplights and when we past them there were of course more stoplights....and then more...
We made it to Crestview FL and then the Fog rolled in, you know the humid Florida Fog. Can't see the road fog...were did Disney go fog...So we made a pit stop at the old Walmart in Crestview and waited on the fog to break..And waited..and waited..Finally after 2.5 hours it cleared enough to roll on, and on we rolled. Made it to our first taste of the old mouse, the Ocala Disney welcome center by 9:30 am Friday morning. Hello old friend Mickey. On to the Dolphin by 12:00 pm and check in. The room has a pool view, a great view with balcony but my youngest with the cast starts to cry because he can't swim... Then my husband starts to cry because he can't see the girls in bikinis...So we ask for another room with a resort view. They say there is none ready but if we wanted to wait they would move our bags when it came open. So we ditched the room and headed for the Marketplace to get some McDonalds, I think the food is better here don't you, and for the price it better be. 5 meals, 5,000dollars.....Oh well its vacation. When we get back to the Dolphin the resort view is great. We have a balcony with a perfect view of fireworks. All is right with the World. We crash here and wait for the fireworks and then off to bed and ready for a day at the Animal Kingdom, but that is day 2.
