You can find out everything you need to know about Riverside from the resort thread:

You can walk to the boat or main lobby from every room. There is a sit-down restaurant, Boatwrights, but it is only open for dinner. :)

French Quarter has the smaller footprint. So if you're looking to minimize walking, I'd look at that rather than Riverside.

It's all walkable, though it can seem far, especially the first time you make the trek. Like, we recently had the Royal rooms, and when we were lugging the bags over and finding the room, it seemed so far. Then I was supposed to have a room close to my parent's, but it was another building entirely - It seemed SO far away. The next morning, once I got the lay of the land and figured out an efficient route, it was actually pretty close, as was the lobby and main building. Those big resorts can be daunting, but they're really fine, and POR is lovely. Enjoy your stay!

And although there is a sit-down restaurant (Boatright's), it's only open for dinner. There's a large food court with a decent selection.
