Skipper Canteen or Be Our Guest for lunch?

If it's your first time in BOG, I'd do that just because the atmosphere is really unique and special. If you've already done it for breakfast or dinner, I'd definitely do Skipper Canteen. For me, SC is now the best option in MK... great food, great place, great service and more acceptable price tag.

If you look at BOG's menu and are ok with the food and the price, I would say go there. The theming is great if you are a fan of Beauty and the Beast, well 2/3 of the rooms at least. My partner is going with the her sister's in August and BOG is the only sit down dining she is going to try and reserve since her sisters have never been.

I personally enjoy Skippers a lot more, I love dad jokes and like the menu/pricing more.

The pricey fixed menu they now have for lunch at BOG means we won't be eating there again. Ate there for lunch in 2019 under the old menu and we found both the food and the setting to be underwhelming. Not sure why it seems so popular with many. It is also toward the back of the park with one popular ride nearby. Seems like a long way to walk for an expensive meal.
I had a reservation for our trip a couple weeks ago, and never realized they went to the Price Fixe Menu! I cancelled immediately after seeing the new menu (and prices, lol). I used to LOVE their Lunch Menu a few years ago--the French Dip and Onion Soup were amazing. Wish they still had that.

We used to love the old BOG pre prix fixe menu. However the last time we had it it was one the most expensive and worst meals we had on property. Not been back.

We have come to love Skipper’s Canteen! The theming is fun and we both love the Perkin’s Family Noodles. We ate there when it first opened and it was a huge miss that had us shying away for years. They changed the menu and now it’s a must do!

BOG. I don't like the price, but since you haven't gone before, you need to do it. If only to decide if you like it.

Skippers Cantina is so much better. Better food, better theming, more relaxing atmosphere, and you can actually hear the people at your table talk.

anyone's been to either Skipper Canteen or Be Our Guest lately with the newer menus?

I’m planning a trip and curious if one has become noticeably better for food or value since last year. Also wondering how the theming holds up on repeat visits....does one stay fun longer than the other?

I had dinner at BOG in March and thought it was great. It's always been great for me. I recomend the french onion soup and the filet. They also had this pork add on that my stepdad got - I had a peice and it was really good! To the theme of this thread, I probably wouldn't want a meal that heavy for lunch, but I do like BOG. I haven't been to Skipper's in a while, but it was good when I did go.

Interesting question. Skipper Canteen can be a lot of fun, depending on the server you get. Some of them tell excellent jokes and interact really well with the guests, others not so much (or perhaps they have more tables to serve at the particular time). Skipper Canteen is fun, as you say. The menu is funny all by itself. When we have been there the last few times, seating was very slow; but that was at dinner, not lunch. The menus appear to be identical for dinner and lunch at both places. The Kungaloosh dessert at Skipper Canteen is excellent. I've had the "Tastes Like Chicken" multiple times. I have found it variable in crispiness and spiciness.

I don't know whether the Beast greets guests at lunch--maybe? I think all of the dining areas at Be Our Guest are lovely. Personally, I prefer the Ballroom, even though it is very large and open. The scenery and decor are gorgeous. I think the food at Be Our Guest is one level up from Skipper Canteen, but so are the prices, depending on what you order at Skipper Canteen. Be Our Guest has a prix fixe menu, with options. Where did the grey stuff go? I don't see it on the menu.

Be Our Guest has an interesting entry. In our experience, you are not admitted to the front of the "castle" until they are close to being ready to seat you. Its entryway is more elaborate than Skipper Canteen's, though Skipper Canteen also has interesting items in the waiting area.

Personally, I'd go with Be Our Guest, expecialy since you have been interested in going there for quite a while.

Having eaten at both (eliminating the "you have to do this once" effect) I would eat at Skipper Canteen over Be Our Guest. We like the SC theming, pricing, and food flavor. BOG is a "you must do it once" restaurant, but after that once the pricing and the food take it off our list.

In fact, for our upcoming trip in September, we are only planning two sit down meals. One is San Angel Inn at EPCOT and the other is Skipper Canteen.

Purely on food, Skipper is better and it’s not even close. But you need to be a diverse eater, at least ok with some Asian influence.
