Do you shop at your local goodwill? I used to just go in there occassionally, but lately I've become addicted. Is that healthy? ;)

Yes, we stop in occasionally. DH buys t-shirts for work there. Can't beat $1.50-$2.00 work shirts. :teeth:
I found some Polo Ralph Lauren jean shorts for my boys there for $2. :bounce:

For some reason, that is the easiest place for me to find jeans that fit. :confused3 I have found a lot of stuff still new with tags at ours. You can't beat that kind of bargain.

We go there too. We go around back first to donate them head to the front to shop!!! :rotfl:
I got a really cute Raven brand shirt for DD7 along with a bunch of Limited Too stuff. Can't beat the prices!!
Kimba

I make my mom go in there all the time so I can sew and reconstruct clothes...Can't beat the prices, and if you butcher it up too much you're not out of any money.

I go in occasionally. My boss went in the other day to buy a printer. Exactly like the one we have at work, cause ours supposedly died.
He only paid $5 for it. I asked him for the umpteenth time, "Do you want my husband to look at it?" At that time, neither were working. My Dh cleaned them up. Turns out our original printers color ink jet was dried up. Both printers work and my cheap boss is happy!

So, now more of the people from work are headed to Goodwill

This is so weird this post came up b/c I was just thinking of going in there. Can anyone go in a buy stuff and are the rices that cheap?

I find a lot of Disney movies (videos) at our Goodwill. Movies are $3.00 each.

the ones around here just have junk

I never find anything. They want like $19 for old worn out jeans and shoes. And it smells really bad in there.

I would if we had a good one here, but I can never find anything.

I am hopelessly addicted to Good Will. We go there every Saturday (sometimes Sunday too lol). My dh always finds shirts for work. I sometimes have a hard time find clothes for me since I'm "larger" :rotfl2: I did find LOTS of maternity clothes in there when I pregnant though. DS loves it there too, there's always tons of toys. We've found so many treasures.

Yup! Anyone can go there!! I know at my local place they often have a great deals of the day. IE All books 4 for $1. Clothes with a certain color tag are B1G1. I think it really depends on your store though, because there's another one that we've gone to where we walked in an out because it was so bad.

The Goodwill's I've tried here in Atlanta have overpriced junk. I have several other places I LOVE, Last Chance Thrift Shop, ALA and My Favorite Place. All have slightly used to new merchandise for MUCH less than Goodwill and Last Chance has a 1/2 price day on Mondays!

We don't have a Goodwill near where I live, but we do have a CCA (Christian Community Action) which is almost the same thing. I've found some good stuff there (GAP shorts, a green boho-style longsleeved shirt from Chico's, etc) for semi-cheap. :)
THere was one weekend we went in there and DH had to physically restrain me because they had giant ziploc baggies of Beanie Babies for like 5$/bag. :rotfl2: He says I've got too many already.

I don't go often, but I find a thing or two here and there.
I also like to go to resale shops. There is one downtown here, it's a consignment shop. Found brand new Lee jeans (my fat size ones) for $5, found a dress for my nephews wedding, new with tags, $15.00. Can beat those prices.

We have a salvation army shop here but I never shop in it..I don't go for used clothes....I would consider buying books there if they had them but they don't so I buy books from the library, they always have paperback books for sale.

I don't go for used clothes

Is that because you were raised to believe used clothes were for tacky, white trailer trash? ;)

We LIVED at the local Thrift store when I was growing up. I nearly bought my prom dress there. I had found this GORGEOUS 1950's semi-formal strapless black w/white polka dot dress that had a matching bolero jacket. The only problem was I couldn't fit my giant chest into it and I didn't know anybody who could alter it for me. :( I was so upset that I couldn't fit into it. Darn giant chesty things! :rotfl2:

I love shopping at thrift stores because you never know what you'll find. I went to one once and found a Vanna White barbie-style doll MIB. If my mother hadn't said it was tacky beyond belief, I might have bought it. Just for the sheer "WTH" factor of it.

You have to find the right ones.

DD goes about 20 miles away to a great thrift store where she's found designer clothes (Channel, Versace, etc) marked down to nothing! However, they're cut in such a way that most girls can't wear them. She's able to wear the 50s/60s stuff because she has a smallish bust and narrow waist.

I found a consignment shop where one of the local "society" leaders sells her used (wore it to the fundraiser once, but was photographed in it so can't wear it again) clothes, which just happen to be my size.

I just found it, but you can bet I'm going back again.

I have never shopped at Goodwill, but I will be next year for the WDW Marathon Weekend, for warm "throwaway" clothes.

No more for poor people that couldn't afford to buy new ones...but that is really not even the reason now...I don't like the idea of wearing clothes that some other person has worn..even washed it still has the "yuk" factor for me!

Oak Harbor Washington has the best thrift store! Islant thrift, not a goodwill but the same thing. I miss it dearly. I would buy my son nearly new toys for a fraction of the costs.Leap frog toys, fisher price, etc. Now down here in southern texas in the very poor town we are currently living, its horrible. Nasty, smelly and they want a zillion dollars for garbage. I went in to buy records for an 80's party and they had a bed skirt from target that was new in the package, they wanted $25 for it! I think thats more than they sold it for at Target. I wont be going back.

Only 2 more years until I can shop at Island Thrift again!!
