I have a simple task. Find good donuts close to WDW. I need a place that's open late or overnight. We'll arrive about 9pm and I want to grab some donuts for breakfast the next morning. Boxed or prepackaged is not acceptable. I live in a place that I can go get good fresh donuts at any time day or night, so boxed or prepackaged is not acceptable. I'm not expecting the best donuts ever, just something better than boxed. Can anyone help me?

There's a Dunkin' Donuts on Apopka Vineland Road just outside of Downtown Disney resort area. If you're leaving the resort, make a left at the light and it's just down on the left-hand side.

There is a Krispy Kreme on hwy 192, not too far from the south end of WDW.
If you are driving in, it might be easier to stop at the Okahumpka Travel Plaza, 1st travel plaza on the FL turn pike. There is a Dunkin Donuts in there. :-)

You can actually get Krispy Kreme at the Hess gas stations on WDW property.

True...but they're "preboxed". I don't THINK they're swapped out ever day for fresh.

KK is decent, and there's a couple of them close to the WDW "perimeter".

We go to a place called Donut King...it's 24 hours. They're some of the best donuts I've EVER had (and not just in Florida).

Takes about 15 min (maybe a bit more) from AKL, going down to 192 and picking up 25/27. Might be quicker for you, depending on which resort you're staying at.

There's also a Super Walmart along the route (just after you get on 25/27).

Moving to Orlando Attractions as it is asking where to find certain foods outside of WDW property.

THANK YOU! :worship: That's what I'm looking for. We planned on going to Wal Mart also. We're driving, so transportation is no issue. We'll probably go before we check in.
After looking at their website, it's ironic that they sell "New Orleans" food and Castle Burgers. That's what the bakeries here sell. I wonder if the owners are from N.O.

babycakes in DTD has fresh, non-fried doughnuts...open until 11 p.m. :thumbsup2

Sorry, OP asked about good donuts. :snooty:

Be nice. Dunkin are good, for large, chain style donuts. Maybe a bit too "cakey" for some tastes....

But they're not GREAT donuts. IMHO, Donut King compare favorably to REALLY good, hand crafted (think VooDoo Donuts or Stan's) donuts I've had other places.

I used to live in the town where Dunkin Donuts started so you'd think I'd be a big fan but I think they are simply the wost donuts on the planet. I bought boxed donuts from a Hostess outlet one time that were several days past the expiration date and I still thought they were better than any Dunkin Donut I ever had. And don't get me started on the sorry excuse for coffee that they sell.

Hope you enjoy.

Just to temper your expectations: They're not as good as Beignets from Cafe Du Monde (with a Cafe Au Lait, obviously)! But they're pretty darn good.

Is there another Donut King on 192 close to the Osceola County stadium?I notice a donut place with different colors on each letter on the sign and I'm 90% sure it say Donut King.If you say it's good and it's the same donut place I'm going to stop and try them on my next trip to Orlando.

Lived in Quincy, eh?

We're surrounded by Dunkins up here in CT.

Coffee is OK, if you're jonesing for a quick cup and can't make your own.....and less pricey than the "Starbucks alternative".

The donuts are VERY heavy...which turns a lot of folks off. Especially if you're a Krispy Kreme fan, or like your donuts a bit (or more than a bit) lighter. Their new "yeast" cocoa is actually not too bad (plain, without all the crud on it).

But for chain donuts? They're not, IMHO, awful...but I don't mind "cakey" donuts, either. But then...chain donuts are not all that great, anyway (KK included).

I only know about the location on 25/27.

It's not the most creative of names...could be more than one person has used it.

A Tim Horton's would do well in WDW.

....just had a great idea; Disney could have one in epcot world showcase!

Funny story:

I don't know if you remember, but Canada used to have one of the most heavenly creations known to man. It was called a "Beaver Tail". Something similar to pastries sold at Tim Hortons...

http://www.lostepcot.com/beavertails.html

Disney shuttered the cart in around 2004.

It would be AWESOME for WDW to get Tim Horton's to come in, reopen that cart, and bring the Beaver Tails back.....

The only problem would be WDW's deal with Nescafe. That might be a hurdle they can't overcome.

haha I don't know how well it would do. If Disney were in Buffalo, though, there'd be a Tim Horton's at every turn  It's definitely a Canadian/Northern US chain. Dunkin Donuts is more known nation wide.

And OP - just a tip, they serve the Krispy Kreme donuts at the Tusker House breakfast buffet if you're going there. Not sure if they are served at any other buffets, but it's one of the reasons TH is my favorite breakfast :thumbsup2
