Good Carryon

We have LL bean medium carryall duffle on wheels.
They've held up very well and never had an issue with fitting in the overhead compartment.

I have one just like that, but with the spinner wheels. It is great, and I can pack for a week+ in it!

Briggs & Riley. Best quality; Best warranty.

$400+ for a carry on would break my bank.
They go on sale for a low as $250. You can sometimes find them even cheaper at Marshalls. If you travel frequently, they're a lot less expensive than replacing your bag more often.

A smaller variation of the carry-on.... underseat bags. I'm starting to see a pattern where those getting seats mid-plane (the last boarding group), often have NO overhead storage by the time they board. I'm learning to see if I can cram my stuff inside these smaller carry-on's that can stay at my feet (eg travel with tablet/ultrabook instead of a 17" inch laptop).

Airlines are now giving you discount to skip the overhead storage....

I hate seeing my fragile carry-on's (laptop?) being air mailed to the luggage hold.

Our Travelon also had the side handle fall off on one of our carry-ons, and the other has held up great. I bought the TS Motherload Junior backpack from ebags as my carryon now and LOVE it. I have so many ebags items that it really is hard to stop buying them.

My daughter and I each have an EBag similar to that one. The bags have held up very well with no sign of wear. I expect to be using them for many years. We have had other bags that have not held up nearly as well.

I was hoping that someone would bring this one up. I got one for Christmas and I keep wondering if it'll really fit under a seat on a plane. Do you know?

If you want quality, Briggs and Riley are among the best on the market these days. And they actually stand behind their warranty and don't try to deny all warranty claims as "airline damage". They are EXPENSIVE - as you've seen, you gasp when you see the prices. But I have 20+ year old B&R bags that are still going strong, despite heavy usage (many years as a "road warrior" in my job and extensive leisure travel since) and they really have been worth every penny.

I have some larger Travelpro Maxlite 3 bags. They are OK, not great. They are very light but the fabric feels a bit cheap - it's sort of "padded" and not the tough sort of fabric you expect. I suspect one sharp corner and it will slice open. One of the plastic bumpers (that little black thing on the back of the bag, at the bottom in the center) tore halfway off one of the bags the very first time I checked it and I had to sew it back on. And the handle is a bit wobbly, although I haven't had any problems with it yet. I honestly was not thrilled when I received them, I have had other Travelpro bags in the past and these clearly weren't the same quality. But at least I got a fabulous deal on them from Amazon Warehouse - I wouldn't pay the eBags price for them. (Hint: Amazon Warehouse has the Maxlite 3 International Carry On, identified as "used-very good" but from the description it sounds like it is just a repackaged return, in blue for $56 right now) Oh - and the "expandable" feature is a joke on these things. It only expands the outer pocket at the bottom of the bag, not even the whole pocket. It's hard to explain but you can see it in the third pic on eBags - it's actually fully expanded in that pic.

One thing to watch for in any bag you look at is the size. Many "carry on" bags don't actually meet airline size regulations these days, especially if you travel internationally. Check the size allowed on the airlines you fly the most, then compare that to the dimensions of the bag WITH THE WHEELS included, to see if it meets those airlines requirements. Many websites list the dimensions for bags WITHOUT wheels - eBags is hit and miss. They say their dimensions include the wheels, but I've caught some cases where they actually didn't.

That bag looks fine and that is a good price. Be warned that if you travel internationally, it's a bit larger than the size limits for many foreign airlines. For the US, it's fine.

My husband travels at least once a month for business. He never checks luggage. I just bought him a new carry on this past Christmas. I was worried he wouldn't like it, he's picky and a creature of habit...but he really likes it. It's a LUG, specifically a LUG wheelie. I got it from QVC. I've read some posters purchase their LUG from Amazon. I really like all the pockets and organization. I just bought another LUG piece for my husband to accompany the Wheelie, it's called the North/South.

Travelpro fans here. We have a slightly smaller one with 4 wheels that we both use for work travel and are amazed at just how much we can pack in it.

I love that bag also. I did not try it under the seat but if it did squeeze under there, it'd be tight. Probably depends on how much stuff you pack into it. Mine was overstuffed and heavy, had to squish it a bit to fit in the overhead on a SW flight. :D

If you don't over stuff it and don't use the expansion, then it should be fine. I think I used it once under the seat and didn't have any problems. I wasn't asked to gate check it when everyone else in our seating group was. You do sacrifice leg room because it takes up the entire under seat area, but I fit so much in this bag that it is all I pack now and my other roller bags stay home.

The price was right, it works perfect for the way I travel, and I have been using it exclusively for the last two years. I have never had any bad to say about any of the ebags brand travel gear that I have.

AHHH I Am so tempted by some of the great bags on ebags...... but my cheapness overrides me every time...... I still use some sweet little 23" rolling bags I found at Goodwill for 7.00 each years back..... I keep telling myself that I'm replacing them, but they never seem to wear out..... I realize if we went international I'd have to get the smaller bags to carry on, but they fit within SWA guidelines..... I love saving money, but I like the sleek little options I'm seeing....

If just bringing an under seat suitcase on the plane - what do you pack in it for a week at WDW?
Do you do laundry during the week?
Not buy any souvenirs?

We would need to bring
Toothbrush and tooth paste
Suntan lotion
Hair bush, shaver, shaving cream. contact lenses stuff and sun glasses

How many t-shirts ? Shorts? Extra sneakers? Flip-Flops?

We would go to WDW the first week of May. :)

Thank you for your advice on packing minimum
