Has anyone heard if the free club and shoe rental will be extended beyond 12/31/05. I hate the thought of having to drag my own clubs besides the ones I rent are better than my own. It's a great perk I hope it continues.

don't know the answer but I hope they keep it to. We use it for 4 sets this past OCT with shoes. :cool1:

I would like to know this as well. I have another question: Does anyone know if there are any other discounts besides being a APH and purchasing the DVC Golf Card? I thought I remember reading about getting a discount for using a Disney Visa? Any info!!!! Thanks

we are using our DVC golf card right now...............they said there were no plans to eliminate rentals to DVC members................shoes or clubs.

I posted about the visa card this past OCT. When you go to pay for your rounds make sure you have the golf discount card first. If you paid full price first then buy the card you can't use it then. :cool1:

Also when we did it ,one of my group paid his fee with my discount ($50) , When I went to pay the CM asked if I had a Disney Visa (I said yes) the CM said if I pay with it I get another $10.00 off, so I paid for the myself and 2 others in my group. Came out to $40 each with free clubs and shoes.

Since my other player all ready paid he couldn't get the extra $10 off.

I just called and was told that the DVC club rental deal expires 12/31/05. This may not be correct but that's what they said. I plan on calling down in January before our trip to confirm.

If I recall corectly one of the annual meeting reported stated that management said it was to continue. I Would search for you but I off to get ready for my candlelight procession package meal :sunny:

Sorry to be a ditz, but what is the DVC golf card? Thanks!
Cost is $50 for a year. Fees vary based on time of year - I know you can play for $50 a round in January, less in September more in February. Only one card needed per group. Other perks as well (currently, free club rental, etc.). There are also AP discounts but this is probably the best deal (must play after 10am I believe).

It's only $35 per round from about May 1 to September. The down side is that you have to play after 10:00 am to get the discount.

May I ask if you called Member Services or WDW golf reservations? My husband who is not a complainer HATES dealing with WDW golf reservations. He finds them clueless and unhelpful. Perhaps it is a case of them being offsite and not actually knowing anything about the courses or even the game of golf? :confused3

But if you spoke with that department, I'd try calling MS instead. If they don't know, they will probably find out for you.

Many perks seem to end with the calendar year but that doesn't mean they aren't renewed for the following year.

Here's hoping the free club rental deal will continue.

Any idea if range balls are included, and if not, how much they are?

Also, do they hold firm to the one round per day?

Now there is a question from a dedicated golfer! :sunny:

Welcome to the DIS! :grouphug:

I have used the DVC golf card for many years. the " :cool1: One round per day" is never enforced, but usually your second round starts after 3pm (if you start at 10am) and twilight rates are the same or a few dollars less than the DVC rate.
Enjoy

Dell, thanks for the reply. Any idea how they handle range balls? I have a high school team golfer going down and when he's not playing his round of golf (and there's daylight) he'll be hitting balls.

Are there some balls included with the round? What is the cost for additional range balls? What is the range like?

Our home resort is BCV, but we are going to try OKW for a long weekend. We are looking forward to seeing a new resort.

Thx.

I asked DH about range balls. Apparently it's pretty variable. One trip, the only time range balls weren't included was at LBV, and that was when he got a very low afternoon special rate. Last trip, they were included at LBV. Recently, he's thinking they no longer include them at Bonnet Creek (Eagle Pines and Osprey Ridge). However, he got up one morning and went to Bonnet Creek just to use the range. He paid for a small bucket of balls (unfortunately, he doesn't remember the price), but they gave him a large bucket.

Sad to report this was the answer I received today as well. :sad2:

It was one of those perks I read about too late to use. I was really looking forward to not having DHs clubs along this trip. Oh well.

Hi!

I'm wondering if the DVC golf card is the same as the Annual Golf Membership I bought before I became a DVC member. It sounds like the exact same thing, but I've never been offered a discount for paying with my Disney Visa. Do you have to show your DVC ID when you check in?

I hope they have the free club and shoe rental this year...lugging the clubs along in the hard case is a pain and I play just as bad with their clubs as my own anyway.

January 29th will be my first DVC experience!
