We will be in AK the day we are going to HDDR...I know we can get the bus to Contemporary and then get boat from there.....how hard is the boat terminal to find.
Another option is to go to MK and get the boat from there......which option is the easiest??

Coming back after the show Im getting the MK boat

Why wouldn't you just take the bus from AK to Ft Wilderness? Then you take the internal bus to Hoop. You're making it more complicated than necessary.

After the show (which one are you going to), there may be buses back to the resorts right outside Pioneer Hall.

Thanks for the idea. Not sure Why I didn't think to do a show after AK since it closes early.

Funny enough that never crossed my mind......do you catch the internal bus at the same location where the resort bus drops you off??

I don't actually know because I've never done it, but I'm sure someone will be along to tell you. At worst, they are not far apart from my understanding of reading others posts. Glad I helped though!

Yes, you can take the bus from DAK to FtW, and then the internal bus to HDDR. The park buses drop you off at the Outpost; from there you can take any internal bus to the Settlement, which is where Pioneer Hall, the home of HDDR, is located. The park buses & the internal buses stop at the same platform at the Outpost; you just get off one and wait for the other.

Currently, DAK buses to FtW stop at Wilderness Lodge first. You can also get off there, and transfer to the bus from WL to FtW, which goes directly to the Settlement. The buses from WL run slightly less frequently, but it's still usually faster because there's much less total distance traveled. (It's possible that direct service to FtW without the stop at WL may resume after the current load zone construction at DAK is completed.)

Taking the bus to CR and then the boat to FtW is also a perfectly fine option. The boat dock at CR is behind the main building, near the pools. So you simply walk into the lobby from the bus stop and walk out the back doors to the boat dock. At FtW, the boat docks at the Settlement, a short walk away from Pioneer Hall.

As with any Disney Transport involving a transfer, you should plan on 90 minutes travel time, especially when you absolutely don't want to be late. It's more likely to take about an hour, but the extra time allows for encountering a full bus or boat, equipment problems, or other delays.

:) Be aware that the trip back to your resort after HDDR may take several stops also. We were staying at AKL. The bus stopped at Poly, SOG, POFQ, Allstars and then AKL. Fine with us cause we visited with people on bus and the driver who was very nice.

Boat from Contemporary seems easier to me than from MK if you are coming from a park (other than MK). if coming from a resort, MK boat makes most sense. We sometimes take the boat from WL, same idea as bus to Contemporary from AK. As PP said, Contemporary dock is easy to find: directly out the other side, walk toward the bay by pools, can't miss it. I am not keen on FW internal bus choice, but ymmv.

I was just looking at a Fort Wilderness map and if I am reading it correctly, the Hoop Dee Doo Revue is only a short walk from the boat launch....if this is so, I may go this route not only for convenience but for the experience of the boat ride....we are doing the 6:30 show so I'm assuming get the boat back to MK and then get the bus to POP from there will be the easiest?....are the boats clearly marked as to which location they are headed to

I would choose a boat. either the MK one (often a long line, but bigger boats) of the CR one. as hoop de doo is closer to the lake, I would avoid the internal shuttle.

It's slightly closer to the bus depot, but not enough to influence the choice:

The docks have clear signage for the boat routes, and the boats have colored flags to denote destination/route. Plus CMs are good about verifying "This boat is going to___".

You will not have any trouble figuring out which boat.

The walk from boat launch to Pioneer hall is very short, less than 5 minutes.

If you have choice of bus out or boat to MK bus to your resort, it is a toss up on which will be fastest. Probably the bus, but the bus out makes irregular stops to match who is on the bus (and what resort they need to go to) in zones. It is not a FW bus. It is a post-Hoop Dee Doo only set of buses.

I like the boat ride back to MK, but for the late show (when the show started at 9:30) I've many times taken the bus out either because MK was closed, but also the bus is easier after 3 glasses of sangria. :thumbsup2

I always take the boat from either MK or CR...depends on where I am starting from!!
If you're at AK, then yes, taking the bus to CR, or even WL, works very well. If you go to CR, just walk through the CR and out the back side. You will see the boat dock right there. If you go to WL, walk through the resort and out by the pool area...there will be signs to the boat dock. You want to be sure to get on the boat that is going to FtW.
When you get to FtW..just walk up the path and HDDR is right there.
IF you are going to the last show of the night, then you will find resort buses close by. You will be directed to one that will take you to your resort. They won't be quick, but they will get you home. They will stop at several resorts.

If you were to take the bus from AK to MK? You would go to the TTC from AK, and then have to get to MK via the ferry or monorail. Takes a bit longer that way.
