going to disney&uni again! Sep 2011

Just got the rental car down even more.

Got a bottle of Sally Hansen top coat, so maybe my self-manicure will last a few days longer than normal.

Robert's away again...

Just stumbled into a Lego containment doohickey, on sale, and it's super-neat. :) When Lego and Iris (plastic storage stuff) combine, it's cool!

Can I start packing yet?

You are getting so close!!!

I am not a big one on manicures. I used to be, I had lovely long nails but somewhere along the way when I got sick my nails really suffered and have never come back.

I would bet you have already packed somethings.:rolleyes1

I have a bin where I have put things as I thought of them. :)

I definitely don't like having someone DO my nails, but for whatever reason I feel just a tad fancier when I have color on them sometimes. And it just seemed like more "fun" for the trip. Very silly. Especially since my nails seem to be coated with something that makes them nonstick, and polishes come off so quickly!

I knew it!! You are like me. I start stocking things away. I don't pack until the last night usually but I do make piles and set things aside.

Is it maybe a lotion you use? Or an oil? I know that my mom uses bag balm on her nails because they split and her polish seems to peel really easily even with a clear coat on it.

I don't really know what it is, because it's always been this way, though product usage has changed over the decades.

E and I are having fun by organizing his legos in his new storage thing. :) R is on a layover and I sent him a picture, and he said I should have bought two. And it's true, I should have!

That's odd Molly.

That's cool, and now you have a new to do list item.:rotfl:

What is the Lego storage thingy? I am so tired of stepping on Legos, if there is some neato way to store them maybe my son might be inspired to actually put them away once in a while.

The answer .

I got it at Fred Meyer (Kroger), but I see it for the same price that I got it (49.99) on CSNStores (do a search for "lego iris", and I think that's how I found it there). It's full price on amazon, silly them.

We just put all of his "guys", which typically includes robots, droids, and monsters as well as humanoids, into one of the pull-out "boxes" (which are quite a bit like my 12x12 Iris brand scrapbook storage box/case), and there is a TON of room left. And I'm not saying that he doesn't have much, because he does, especially with his liberal interpretation of "guys" or "figures".

Then we chose some easily distinguishable colors to mix together, and one case has blue and white, another has black and red, etc etc. If we get a second one, then each color can have its own spot.

But now...what do I do with all of these plastic shoe bins? Thankfully I bought almost all of them on spectacular sale at Target, but really, I don't need all these bins. (or do I????)

Well we still need 4, to hold the "miscellaneous" legos, that WILL BE sorted into color-specific holders....

A very auspicious start to R's trip, with all the organizing and bonding fun. (along with safe and tasty rootbeer floats (with ingredients from Trader Joe's)!)

It's getting better and better. One of the employees there is really knowledgable, is interested in helping others, and remembers us. :) He warns us when he's used an ingredient that we can't have (saves me from *having to* read the labels).

And he introduced me to the best food book, the Food Lover's Companion. Gives info on all sorts of ingredients and where they come from. Awesome.

You know one of the things I love about Trader Joe's is that although it is a chain store it is very like a corner market in the employees and the way they treat their customers. And seriously from what I understand they are a great company to work for.

Before I make dinner, I leave you with this thought.

For the first time in the years E has been watching Harry Potter, he has NEVER, not once, identified with Ron.

Until today, when he said that he wanted to be Ron with his cousin's Harry.

I'm totally shocked.

And befuddled, because that messes up whatever little costumes we were going to wear (stitch ears/whatever, tentacles coming out from under a shirt) with E's MIB agent.

And no I will not go as Molly Weasley. :)

Befuddled!

I think that is sweet though that E wants to be Ron to his cousins Harry. I also understand your frustration. What about being one of the professors?

This could be more fun Molly!! But, it means more work. It could mean another thrift store trip.

I *think*, that if he really truly does want to do this, we'd just go snag some French Toast school uniform stuff. And then maybe I'd run to Universal (since I'll have the AP) and grab a Gryffindor tie and just be done with it. Maybe grab a G patch at the Universal store for both Ron and Harry so that at least some part of their outfits match.

I know "Harry" will be wearing robes, but "Ron" is not used to Florida and would burst into flames within 5 minutes. Just like he's done for all Halloweens when wearing costumes. So I think we have to go for the more casual look.

Now this brings us to another problem...the haircut. I was *going* to cut his hair a few days before the trip, but as First Years Ron has somewhat longer hair this will be thwarted. Funnily enough, "Harry's" mom has the same problem! One of the reasons the costume works is b/c of his hair length. Maybe we'll take 'em both to a hair cutting place the next day. :)

ETA: or maybe this won't be an issue for the trip. Might be delayed to actual Halloween, since he wants to be the truly brave one (seriously...Ron is scared of quite a bit, but keeps on going just to do what's right and for his friend!). If he actually SAYS that to his cousin, however, it would be v.v. bad, because the cousin isn't the type who could really understand that idea.

Ridiculous really, that after all this time of trying to let E know that Ron is noble and brave and true, and that he should revel in his red hair and Ron'ness...when he finally wants to do it it might cause problems! (apart from just the costume stuff and following through on what he decided stuff etc etc etc)

Isn't there a barber shop in WDW? That might be kind of fun.

OOh, I had not thought of that.

Problem...the family isn't planning on buying tickets other than the MNSSHP tickets. We have offered to buy cousin-E a ticket (his sister's AP is still good), but who knows if they will take us up on it?

But that would be fun!
