Got the hotels pre-and-post worked out. With hotels.com they give you a credit of the previous ten nights you booked with them, so we had one credit higher than the other. You have to pay the taxes, and then if you stay at a hotel with a base rate *lower* than your "free" night, you don't get change (very much like the
Disneyland dining plan, LOL), but if you stay at a hotel with a higher base rate than the night you're using, you pay the difference and the tax of course.
So "free" nights aren't free, but it gave us two nights (one before, one the evening we get in), and all the parking in between for under half the price that just parking would have been*, and it's hard to say that'll be a waste! (I really hate taking the shuttles up here...supershuttle in so cal might kinda suck, but shuttleexpress here is just bleah in its own particular way)
It's all getting worked out! The guys are being ebullient in their "I can't waits!", and their excitement makes it hard for me (because I'm completely weird) to join along, but I do get a big grin when I think about it. If it weren't for picture-management, and the concept that we might switch dining along the way and I liked doing that online, I would actually leave the computer behind, just to give me zone-time.
*and it gives us 45 minutes more sleep-in time if we drove up and parked at the airport, which we wouldn't do b/c of the highway robbery they charge, so then 1+ more sleep-hours if we parked offsite, and nearly 2 hours of more sleep time than if we were picked up by a shuttle! Sleep is goooooood.
