DH & I are invited to a costume party for Halloween. Neither of us are into the dressing up thing & we are far from creative. Does anyone have any easy & creative ideas for costumes?

How about dressing up with a marti gra flare. A bright colorful evening gown while your DH can wear a suit, get some colorful beads and those marti gra masks.

There's always the black hole of the house. Black shirt, black pants and pin socks, dollar bills, stuff that gets lost in your house to the shirt.

I remember someone here posting a picture of themselves as a WDW tourist. It was great, I may do that someday if I really have to dress up. I have everything I need, fanny back, MM ears, pin lanyard, drink lanyard, t-shirts, welcome guest badge, DIS button. Not that I wear it all to the parks on any given day but for a costume just do it to excess.

One year all I did for work was wear all black - and bought a HUGE spider and pinned it to my shoulder.

The next year - all black again - and a plasic rat necklace - the rate was clear with a glow stick in it. I had extra glow sticks to replace...

I'm not a huge dress up person - but it was enough to give the essence of halloween...

My sister and I went to MNSSHP last year as salt and pepper shakers-very easy-one all black outfit, one white, and printed off an S and P of the computer-then cut them out off of self stick felt(from craft store) and I got berets-and attached button covers on them for the holes..probably not explaining really well, but we got alot of attention..and questions-either people got it immediately..or they asked the strangest questions..like where's the M???as in PMS..we laughed a lot that night.

Someone came to party we had once dressed normally with a big letter 'P' taped to his shirt & one of his eyes ringed in black.........he was a black eyed pea:D
Another guy wore khakis & a plaid shirt & a fishing hat....took a bunch of popsicle sticks & glued them together like a little picket fence on a stick........held the fence over his face & came as 'Wilson' form Home Improvement.
A couple wore all black once including ski hats......the snuck in with a little bag of fake jewels & a flash light......they were burglars:D

this year my costume is a pair of black jeans, a black leather vest thats too small worn open, over a dark tank, the hood off dw's leather coat tied tight and a pair of whips,,,:) (I'm the executioner at the haunted house we are helping host:))

One time my brother went to a costume party as "A man in the wind"

He wore an old blazer, tie and pants (you can get for next to nothing from the thrift store) Took apart some wire coat hangers and wired one side of the blazer with the hanger wire stapled inside the hem and then wired the tie so that it looked like it was blown open in the wind. He had me attach dead leaves, an old paper coffee cup and crumpled paper to the one side of his pants where the wind would come from. Then we moused his hair to stand out to one side all disheveled like it was blowing in the wind. He carried an old umbrella that was all busted up like the wind blew it inside out. Looked pretty cool. I think he won a prize for it for most original or something.

If that is too much work - go to the dollar store, buy a bunch of sponges and attach them all over your clothes. When someone asks what you are - tell them you are self absorbed.

One year I was selling Mary Kay, I went dressed up in the pink smock but my make up was like that woman from the Drew Carrey show. It was way overdone and wierd. I was dressed up, but not too much so. And it was easy.

I remember a "medical" couple at a long ago Halloween party. The woman wore a "scrubs" top and the man wore the "scrubs" pants. They were an "upper and lower GI".

I suppose you would have to have a "medical" frame of mind to get that one :teeth:

One year when I was doing private duty nursing, the patient asked all his nurses to dress up for Halloween. I didn't really want to and certainly didn't want to spend money for a costume so I did the only thing I could think of: dragged an old Mouse ears cap out of the closet and painted whiskers on my face with eyeliner. Made big red lips shaped like a heart and wore black tights, black shorts and top. I was Minnie Mouse and my patient LOVED IT! In fact, he kept saying I was beautiful!!! :teeth:

You could go as a bathroom wall.

Just wear a big white tee-shirt and carry a black sharpie marker and let the other guests write bathroom grafitti on your shirt.

last year I didn't dress up...I went to see the Lion King Musical in Louisville, KY...but here's my last few costumes (on the cheap):

I went with my good friend as part of a lounge singer/commedian duo...we both dressed in really bad old tuxs/suits from the salvation army, mismatched of course...with huge fake cigars and greasy hair.

The year before I went as Bob Ross the Happy painter from PBS...I wore a denim button up shirt with a grey afro wig, bellbottom jeans and a painters pallate made from cardboard.

This year, I think my cousin and I are going as skipper and the gilligan (Im fat and he's tall and lanky...should be fun) now if I could just find me a cutie to be maryann...Id be in buisness!

I love halloween.

I don't know if you have a Spencers Gifts store near you, but last year we got cute bumblebee costumes there, which basically consist of wearing all black underneath and then you slip this thing over your head that's yloow and black striped with wings attached and they give oyu the antenna.

DH and I wore the to MNSSHP and they were great because they were easy to pack.

I had a friend who went to a Halloween party dressed as a bunch of grapes. She wore all green underneath and then took purple balloons and attached them to her outfit.

Since the election is around the corner you could go as "The Secret Service"...black suit, cell, hat, and black sunglasses as well.
Have a couple of walkie talkies to keep in touch!

Let's see...couple of our favorites.....

Serial killer.....take mini boxes of cereal, stab them with plastic knives, and attach to shirt or jacket.

plug and socket....all black pants and shirt, paint or glue on the "outlet" of an electrical outlet for the woman, and the man gets to be the plug.....all black outfit, using a box and empty paper towel rolls, make a socket (I'm not explaining that well..I know...lol)

Miss America...finally a use for those old bridesmaid dresses.....make a sash and crown, and viola...a beauty queen is born.

static cling..again, dress in all black, safety pin on all those things that stick to laundry, socks, underwear, bounce sheets, etc.

Want simple? Grab a tee and write
"This IS my scary costume - BOO!"

Or..grab a white sheet and throw it over you with arm and eye holes..that's quick n easy too.

There are lots of great ideas on here tho..wow :)

A boy I once taught came as a highway. He dressed all in black and put strips of bright yellow utility tape down the front of him. Then, he hung Hot Wheels cars at varying lengths down the front of him, on either side of the tape. It was very cute.

One year, my assistant and I went as the tooth fairy (me) and a dentist (her). I wore an old bridesmaid dress and I made a crown of teeth and a wand with a tooth on top, using poster paper and glitter. She had a white lab coat on, one of the things doctors/dentists wear on their heads (with a light attached), and she carried a drill.

One year, I was a panda. I wore black sweat, a white shirt, balck sneaks, and a black hooded sweatshirt. With the hooded sweatshirt, I put my arms through the sleeves and the hood on my head. Then I zipped it up in back of me, so the whote stomach showed. I made ears, and I painted my face like a panda. If you have access to it, you can carry a stalk of bamboo.
