I decided it would be a great xmas present for my ds to go to Disney during xmas break. Thought, I'll suprise him! We have only ever gone to Disney for short visits, usually long weekends, this time I wanted to stay a week and do all the extras, Disney quest, the campfire movies, just take our time and enjoy the experience. Then we find out we can only go for five nights, with four full days, because of dh's work. We have passes, but will not get back before they expire, and don't know if ds will be that intrested next year. So, do we do the park commando thing as usual, or do we miss some rides to smell the roses? Since it's an xmas surprise, I can't ask ds what he would prefer, and trying to plan our iteniarary by myself is making me crazy!

Miss some attractions and enjoy your holiday without the stress.

It's going to be jam-packed, so it's a great excuse to slow down and enjoy some of the smaller touches, not to mention the holiday events, etc.

We just returned from our first Christmas Season trip to WDW. It was just a long weekend, but we slowed down and enjoyed the moment like we do on our other longer trips figuring we'll be back next year for Christmas. My wife said that this was the start of a family tradition. Don't try to see it all, slow down and enjoy.

As we get closer to Christmas, there is no such thing as doing the parks commando style. Right now, the parks are not crowded, but as you approach Christmas, they fill up. Christmas day in a park is crazy. We go for Christmas dinner every year at the Crystal Palace. We usually skip the rides and enjoy the sights.

Don't plan a thing!! Just arrive and the moment that your son knows where he is going to or at (as the case may be) let him decide what he wants to do. Just hit the major things and enjoy all the changes for the Holidays.

Definitely try to soak it all in....Do the little things that are a really nice part of WDW.


Las t summer we went to the campfire, we visited other resorts, the boardwalk, rented sea raycers, and did alot of pooltime. We just loved it. Dtd for the holidays is absolutely gorgeous. You will have a much better time if you don't mess too much with the parks during that time. Try half and half.

That sounds like a fantastic idea to let DS be *in charge* after all, its his surprise, right? That would be just awesome for him, IMO
