Well call me nuts but we have booked another SSR trip for February. I am telling you the time after being at SSR in Nov till now I have not stopped dreaming of being there. SO for all you SSR owners that have worried about all the negatives you see on the board do not despair we love it there and have booked another vacation not even 3 months away from our last :)

This is definitely because we purchased the AP's. When we go down in Feb we are upgrading to the PAP. So a big thumbs up to DVC for giving us this discount! Sign us up to the list that will be visiting WDW more that we have our APs :) That with our DVC is a "good thing"

What? Someone named 3Disney NUTS admitting to being nuts? Amazing! ;) I know how you feel; we were at SSR for it's opening last May, just got back from a trip there in December, and we've got our third trip coming up this May - all squeezed into one PAP year.

Yep, we love SSR. Of course, over the next few decades, we'll try them all, but we're glad to call SSR home.

Thank you so much for posting this. I am a new DVC member. I bought at SSR and will be going in April. It will be my first time at SSR. I have been looking forward to going so much, that some of the negatives I have heard hear have really bummed me out. But we always form our own opinions, and some people will let things bother them that some people won't. I'll just be so happy to be there, I'm not going to let a little construction upset me. I know we like to think that things at Disney World are put there by magic, but real people do have to build this stuff. I wasn't going to let the negative stuff influence me anyway, I'm just glad not everyone is like that.
I am so happy you posted this! :jumping4:

We love the look of SSR too, and it's a good thing as we recently purchased a 130 point add-on there. That said, we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE BCV and I'm having a hard time convincing myself to give SSR a try soon. It seems I'm always finding some excuse to stay at BCV. That said, I'm curious to know if you guys (above) use Disney transportation to and from SSR or your own transportation.

We just returned from SSR and loved it. Yes, there is still construction, and no, it did not bother us. The resort is beautiful. The rooms and views are fantastic. Some folks worry that it is going to be too large. I look at it from a different view point. I think it will actually be one of the smaller resorts when it is completed. I look at it from a density point. For example, if you look at BCV's, one of the smallest DVC resorts, you also have to look at the number of rooms per acre, but also need to include the hotel side as well. Those folks are also using the same facilities (except maybe the quiet pool). When you look at it that way, you realize SSR is actually going to be one of the less denser resorts. :cool1:

I don't know but maybe once I am on Disney property I try not to let negatives pop into my head. All the trips I have been I have only had one experience where I was FUMING at a Cast Member and I will tell you that after I answer your question.

I LOVE Disney transportation. Not having to worry about where you park and left the car, not having to keep track of car keys. Knowing you can leave anywhere whenever you need to is awesome to us. We turn our minds off when we get to Disney, we relax and hardly ever rush to get anywhere so hopping on the busses is perfect for us. The bus rides to the parks from SSR aren't long at all.

We do HOWEVER hate having to use the shuttles to and from the airport and when we want to go to another resort for dinner we like having a car. We also have an american express card with membership rewards points we cash them in for vouchers for rental cars. We never pay more than $25-$50 for a rental car for a week to 10 days. We combine the voucher with discount codes for the car rental companies, the entertainment book coupons and the ap codes. We see which gives us the best deal and then use the voucher for the difference. So like for the next trip we will have a car for 6 days for $23 out of pocket. Compared to $27 per adult and $21 per child through mears it is definitely wiser to go for the car.

So we have access to a car but have gone alot without one. Also now that we own DVC we will probably always have a car since I like being able to do grocery shopping for the neccessities.

But if it were not for the vouchers we get through the american express card we would not even bother getting a car.

Thanks for your positive attitudes!
You guys rock! :cool1:

I forgot my fuming experience....
We got online 4:30 pm to the attraction at MGM that shows the art of Disney and currently it is the incredibles. We waited online and got into the 5:15 show the show is approximately 20minutes. When we got to meet the Incredibles they closed the line (SECOND LINE TO WAIT ON) because it was till 5:45. So we waited through the entire attraction just so DS could meet the Incredibles and they wouldn't let us. So all the kids that came from the show were upset because the entire time all the other CMs were telling them they were going to meet the characters at the end of the show. Even while we were being let out of the show the Cast Member was announcing to the kids "Ok now it is time to meet the incredibles" So you could imagine the disappointment in the group of kids that just waited over an hour to see them.
I looked at the Cast Member that closed the line and asked her how could they do this to the kids? I was seeing red. It was the most unmagical experince I have ever had. She then leans over to tell me to come back tomorrow and go backwards through the art store and we will not have to go through the show again we could just wait on line for the incredibles. In essence bypassing the first line. Of course I realized that alot of others did this too and if we had only been told of this "trick" we would have never had bothered with the show. Why wouldn't they allow people the choice rather than telling them to go through the show. I was even more annoyed now than before because basically it is encouraged to cheat the system but unless everyone was given the option up front it wasn't fair. SO kids that waited since 4;30 were not allowed to meet them while people who got to the second line by going backwards could have arrived at 5;35 and been allowed to meet them. SO I said to the cast member "You know that is completely unfair to all the kids that have waited over an hour." She just shrugged.

well we nuts too were there also nov 1 and yes we are going back to ssr
for feb races....

thanks for the info. DH and I are going to SSR in May, staying in a studio. I remember how nice the model rooms were and am anxious to try out the resort.

As many others are, we're counting the days.

trampslady - regarding SSR and Disney Transportation.

We always have a car, but we utilize a mix of driving ourselves and taking Disney transportation. Sometimes, like when we go to a water park, AK, or something like the Mini-Golf courses, a car is very convenient. Other times, like at MGM, Epcot and particularly the MK, taking a bus to the "front door" is much nicer - and more convenient - than driving.

Something interesting I discovered on our last trip. Our friends were from an area where mass transit was very common, and they did NOT like taking the bus - too much like 'home'. DW and I were born and lived most of our lives in Detroit, where mass transit is a joke (Motor City, don't ya know). So for us, taking a bus home to SSR from the MK is sometimes like the last ride of the night.

IMHO - YMMV

One of the pluses we found staying at SSR is when you dine at other resorts is the short walk to DTD to catch a bus to and from a resort when we don't use a rental car.

Annual Passes and Premium annual passes.

Thanks 3DisneyNUTS for posting your positive feedback! I'm very jealous though...I bought into SSR in August and will not be going home for the first time until next November!! I guess I'll experience my joy through others. Have a wonderful trip in February!!!

I have been to SSR twice (July in studio and Demember in 2 bedroom). I am new DVC and love SSR. I have reservations in May and November of 2005 and for both trips had other resorts booked (BCV and BWV) and changed reservation to SSR. Stayed at BWV once, but love SSR and hate to change to another resort when I love SSR so much.

During my two trips I loved the Spa, Fitness Facility and entire resort. Had some problems with housekeeping and think they need larger selection at Artiste Palette. I'm sure all the resorts are great in one way or another, but why ruin a good thing.

I'm with luckymommyx2!

Even though I was just there in May, We won't be back 'till Dec 05.

For now I live through the words of others.

We love SSR. One of our favorite things is the closeness of Downtown Disney and the transportation. We could walk over the bridge and get a bus to anywhere. This last trip we visited the Boardwalk twice. I was appalled at how long it took to get anywhere! We waited 1/2 hour and then had to stand on a bus to downtown disney.

OMG I never thought of that!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the idea. MAYBE if we decide not to cash in the american express reward points this time I can save them to cruise (need like 400k in points) I always use between 10k points or 20k for the car vouchers. So I will see if we can do the transfers instead. WOW thanks for the tip!
