Gnomies Gone Wild

On the one hand, if you can afford the Lexus, why not make your everyday life (speaking as someone who drives a lot too!) a little nicer. BUT when you consider how much closer those extra $10,000 would bring you to your desired DVC, I would probably go with the Subaru.

One note about the cash for junkers program (just found this out because my parents wanted to take advantage of it). The car you are giving up must have a trade-in value of less than $4500 to take advantage of it (a big goal of the program is to get the older, less efficient vehicles off the road). Dealers who give this benefit to buyers must trash the car and not resell it so if your used car has more value than $4500, the dealer loses on the deal.

I have squirrels living in my minivan.... ya think that will qualify if i trade it in on Toms 2010 mustang GT that he's drooling over???:rolleyes1

BTW.... my minivan doesn't run.... the squirrels live in the engine:lmao:

C.... we aren't IN the chatroom LOL!! But seriously, I am not one to skimp when I want something.... but at the same time, if i can skimp a bit and get 2 things I want... well there you go!;)

Paula

Oh BTW... great catch on the Vera!!

It a new one... i couldn't resist...really:rolleyes1

I agree with the other gnomies if more sensible means you get to play later I think you should go that route!! Definitely look into what P was mentioning you could really get yourself a great deal!!!!

LOVE the LINK!! We are all laughing over it here in Houston!!!!! I had to explain to Annie who my gnomies were LOL!!!! She definitely gives us two thumbs up LOL!!!! (I hope to make her a Disney recruit in the near future)!!

No corn...okay that is just wrong!

Hi girls! I am so far behind.
JJ-Have a great and safe trip!
CP-Keep us posted on the braces!
MM-Here's to a great bike ride for Megs!
P-Love the new bag. I really like that new Blue Rhapsody color!
C-I would have to agree and vote another Subaru. I know I'm thinking in poor college kid terms, but $10,000 is a huge difference and I would totally spend it on something else if I had the option, particularly DVC ;)
LL-What kind of veggies do you like? We steam ours too, Zip Lock has these great steamer veggie bags now, you can practically do anything and you just stick it in the microwave! Mrs. Dash is really good, for some fat free cholesterol free flavor to put on veggies. We love Sweet Potatoes too, we mash them up with a little honey or brown sugar, they're the best for you. Broccoli, Green Beans, Snap Peas, Carrots...how about V8 Splash light? It has 1/2 the sugar of usual juice drinks and has tomatoes and beets and all that jazz in there and you can't really taste them, I like canned Tomato juice too

Well, we're still looking about at least a week to hear back from the insurance company, but it's all submitted, so can't do much more than to wait I guess! Riley's good though. She nearly gave me a heart attack today, jumped up onto the sofa and back down. She either has to be right next to us, in her cage or tied up. I feel sorry for her, but we're trying to still take her places with us to get her some fresh air. The thesis is another story. I'm making progress, it's just hard now with the dog. I can't really leave her long, so I come into work for 2 hours at a time, do my part time job at home, wait until Blake comes home from work and then go back to school to finish my schoolwork, so I'm not seeing much of him lately. But hey, just gotta get through the first 2 weeks and then it'll be smoother sailing!

P -- I love that pattern! The girl at work has it and it is beeeeautiful!

Jess -- Thanks for the advice on the veggies. We can't do sweet potatoes...pretty much no carbs/starches. It really stinks. Glad to hear that Riley is doing better! :thumbsup2

I can't remember what else I was going to say.

Oh! Yes, we do need a theme song. I showed that video to Marc on Sunday and after we watched it he asked me if I was going to make our future children do that. I said ABSOLUTELY. :lmao:

Hmm, if the mustang gets the required minimum mileage then as strange as it sounds, I think the answer is yes. But now that I think about it, a subaru may NOT qualify because I believe you must purchase an American made vehicle (is a lexus american? shows you how much I know :rolleyes1)

Jess, you can do anything for 2 weeks! Hang in there.

so I forgot to mention that Greg and I REALLY liked the house we went to last night. It didn't have quite the same "wow" as the last house but felt really comfortable and suited to us. Now I just need that full-time job!

Paula -I love that pattern too! Like that bag style as well! I can spot a Vera from a mile away! :lmao:

K- glad you liked the new house! What's the latest on interviews?

Jess - so glad Riley is doing well. Tell her to slow down and not jump so much and give you heart failure!

LL- my future family is SO making a video like that. Whether they like it or not. I've watched it 3x now and am about to watch it a fourth. LOVE it.

Good luck tomorrow with your tests and can't wait to hear what you think of HP! :yay:

Who says I have to wait for my future family LOL I think I need to make one of those sooner than later LOL!! It was fantastic!!!!!

P...so you'll have the mulitple bags too...LOL!!!! Love it!

Hey girlies. Sorry to be so lurky. Just not much to say these days. I actually WORKED the last two days at work though!!! So that's good anyway....

Can't believe my girl is starting 1st grade in just 6 weeks!

And we're taking a second look at the house I want on Thursday. I hope to get pictures this time.

C'ya round! Love you all!

CP - yikes  I know they are in our future and I don't think our insurance even goes up to $1000. Yeah, don't think about it

We were expecting it, but I was holding out a tiny flicker of hope that it would be less than we thought. No such luck.

Hey Gnomies!!!

Well we made it safely to Houston, the first part of our trip...we are staying with some friends tonight and then will be going to MI in the morning. Have to figure out which airport we are going to LOL!!! Phillip is out getting corn on the cob which we are going to grill (LL can you eat that)!! I'm also thinking of roasting some asparagus which is another great veggie we love at our house!!!

Well hope you all are having a great day!!

WOW..on the price of braces..it sure has gone up since I had them LOL!!!!!

Glad you made it to Houston safely! Enjoy the time with your friends!

WWGD? What would gnomies do? :flower3:

Me? Unless Lexus had a glossy brochure showing a family happily driving together with Starbucks coffee and a stack of guidebooks (which is what prompted my purchase of the Grand Caravan), I would go with the cheaper of the two. Cars never retain value and you could use that $10,000 in lots of other places (like DVC contracts ;)).

Oh BTW... great catch on the Vera!!

It a new one... i couldn't resist...really:rolleyes1

It's very pretty, Paula!

I think both you and Riley need hugs, Jess!

Hi Julez! Nice to see you! :) I don't know which shocks me more - that she's headed for first grade or that school starts in just six weeks! :scared1:

Me? Unless Lexus had a glossy brochure showing a family happily driving together with Starbucks coffee and a stack of guidebooks (which is what prompted my purchase of the Grand Caravan), I would go with the cheaper of the two. :lmao: I think that is a perfectly reasonable reason to buy the Grand Caravan! You gals are right - gnomies are smart- when I think about whether I'd rather spend the 10k on a car or something else (DVC) then the something else clearly wins. Guess that anwers that - I'll have to stick with the practical car.

Good Morning gals!!!!

Katie and Julez......so looking forward to hearing more about those houses and seeing pics of course!!!! GOOD LUCK to both of you!

C--I'm with the other gals.....I would go the cheaper route. Those dang cars just don't pay for themselves in the long run. Tom and I got the funniest call last night from the car dealership we often buy through.....they are trying to get us in on Saturday to trade in our 2004 Rendezvous and UPGRADE to a new car.....said something about those SUVs in high demand right now....I guess because they get pretty good gas mileage....weird having a car dealership actually call you to buy back your car. VERY WEIRD!

Sorry about the cravings LL......I would try to go the salad route...dump as much into that and your sandwiches that you can. And for dinner, steam them and then spray a 0 calorie butter spray on them...Mrs. Dash has some good flavors too!

What's on everyone's agenda today?

Thanks Jen! My, that is weird to have the dealership calling to ask to buy your car back!

On my agenda is watching the "WDW dancing video" at least 10 more times today. It just makes me smile. I LOVE it! :upsidedow

I suppose I may also be buying a Subaru... :rolleyes1

I was just rewatching that video too!!!! I saw it this weekend when LL posted it on FB, but it just keeps getting better each time I see it!!!!! NOW, it also sets us up for complete disappointment when our family videos don't even come close to that, huh????

Okay, I want to do what YOU are doing today!!!!! We are due for some showers and thunderstorms all day.....on my agenda is laundry, cleaning bathrooms, watching little Ava (a family friend's baby that I watch a couple days a week), playing with Megan, and then going to my meeting for my women's weekend at my church this evening. See why I want to be doing what you are doing?!?!?!?
