Give a day volunteer search showing only American places?????

Thanks for the info.

I couldn't remember reading about the photo the first time I read the toolkit information and assumed that it must have been updated to include this. Perhaps I read it too fast the first time and just didn't notice it.:goodvibes

I'm so excited!:cool1:I just signed us up for the blanket making. I got through the complete registration process...so can I assume if I wasn't allowed to do this volunteer opportunity they would have told me by now?:confused3

We're going in March so I want to start making the blankets right away. We were planning a Florida (no Disney) vacation this year since we just went to Disney for 12 days this past Mar09, so now we can still do Disney for 1 day. I'm so excited!

Um, I'm looking at it now an dit has "Rep Soccer Coach-Guelph". I don't think that's a one-day thing! Are they expecting you to coach soccer several times epr week from April to October for one Disney day???

Does anyone know if you can do it cross-border? Port Huron has listings for Habitat for Humanity.

Check to see if it says "Special"(one day), short term ( 3 months), long term.
I bet it's short term and they expect you to coach the season.

If anyone receives a Disney Day ticket and is going to donate it, please, please, please consider Dreams Take Flight.

Check them out at dreamstakeflight.org

I volunteer with DTF and they are an amazing organization. PM me for more information or check out the web site.

I applied to volunteer in Ancaster, ON and got an email saying it is FULL! Grrrrr!

can you forward the link to me, I cant seem to find it....thanks.

When looking for the blanket one, put 99999 in the zip code box, it will come up then if it is still available. Make sure you choose the Cdn one. I did get a letter back stating that this was only for people in remote areas, I had to write to them and explain that " we are remote" they ran my actual postal code, and wrote back saying I was able to do this project, because I was remote.
I also didn't see the picture thing in the first downloaded tool kit, and almost mailed it out without one!! Now I have to wait for the darn pic to be developed and returned before mailing them in, we go in March so wanted this done ASAP!

For all of you who live in Durham Region...... I signed up on Jan 1st at 9am for the program and chose Durham Hospice, Helping with mailing Newsletters.
It appeared the sign up went through as I received an email from Disney with the sign-up info.

I didn't hear anything (even though it said within 5 days someone would contact me) :confused3

I called today and was told that they had withdrawn from the program!!!! :scared1:

Now, when I search the closest program is 34Kms!!!

Now what???? :confused3

I can't sign up for the blanket program as I'm not in a remote area and 34Kms is too far.

Disappointed :sad2:

I just went on the site to see what was available and there is a participant that is walking distance from my house....only problem is it's only for those 18 yrs and over....my DD10 wants to do it too. The closest one that she can do is in North Tonawanda, USA and it happens to be at a seniors residence....I work in one and my DD is there all the time. :rotfl2:

For those in ON, I saw the Heart and Stroke Foundation asking for volunteers. Only problem is, it is door to door. But might still be an option for some.

:cool1::cool1:WE GOT OUR TICKETS!!!! (OR VOUCHERS I SHOULD SAY!):cool1::cool1:

Wow, That was fast. Did the blankets activity and in one week received verification.

Thanks Disney!

That's great! We are doing the blanket thing too... the fleece-knot one but not sure if we are doing it right... did you take any pics of your blanket that you might share??

Sorry, we didn't take pictures. Not sure who posted they needed pictures. We didn't.

Don't worry too much about the look of the blankets. My kids made their own and my youngest started cutting before I made my way to him ( he cut the wrong side-the 60" side instead of the 48"). It still worked out ok. All in all, they are warm blankets, made with love, to give someone a little hope and comfort. Can't go wrong there.

I actually googled "EASY TO MAKE FLEECE BLANKETS" and got a whole bunch of websides. Some with pictures. Try that.

Good luck!

I think typically, you do all 4 sides. Our instructions didn't specify short side only, and pics I could find on-line were 4 sides.

It was a fun project. Hopefully we'll get verification quickly, we go next month.

ETA: WOW, I just checked our volunteer activity status on-line...... VERIFIED!!! Amazing, we completed the blankets last Tuesday evening, mailed them Wednesday morning, and verified already.

Thanks, Disney! One free day during our Universal, Seaworld and Busch Gardens vacation.

Good luck volunteering everyone!

Well, I got everything necessary to do the project, so we'll be giving it a go this week. I wonder if they are getting close to giving away 1 million yet?

For those who have received verification/vouchers, did you have to keep checking the disney web site to see this info. or did you receive an e-mail to let you know?

Thanks

Hi son3disfan, we are doing the same one, today we finished 2 blankets, did you do a certain size. From what I read on the toolkit it says that they can be any size, as long as they are handmade, and new! The ones my 7 & 9 girls made today are the size of 2 receiving blankets together probably! We are going to try to finish the other 2 tomorrow night. Also, did you do the knot blanket at all, to make sure I am understanding it right, it is actually a piece of material, and you make the slits on the sides and knot them are they 2 pieces of fabric or just one? I am not a blanket kind of person, the 2 we finished today, were actually knit baby blankets we were working on for a baby shower, and that is the extent of my craftiness. We will have to re-make the knit ones for the baby, but we are going to Disney in March, so I wanted to get this done sooner, rather then later!

Thanks for your help!

It states on the instructions in the tool kit: 48x60 for fleece blankets and 38 X 30 for crocheted/ quilted blankets.

Yes they require photos.... either 1 per group or 1 per person. They want to see the actual person making the blanket. I emailed them and received verification yesterday.

Did you make your blankets with 1 piece of fleece or 2? All the sites I have found for the fleece blankets are 2 pieces!

I kept checking the site. Don't recall receiving an email.
