Give a day volunteer search showing only American places?????

It's frustrating because as per usual, people think there are only 2 cities in Canada: Toronto and Vancouver (ok, maybe a few more, but for the most part, it seems they carry the most listings).

Hope they add some more soon - I've been volunteering since I was 8 years old, so I like the promo for the simple fact that it promotes altruism and caring. The bonus ticket is just that, a bonus, but I do suspect, that for many, they are only going to do it for the free ticket.

The charities themselves have to contact Disney, so it isn't Disney choosing the Toronto and Vancouver charities. Ottawa selection is pretty slim and I selected a charity and sent an email 10 days ago and got no response...

How do you find the blanket activity? I don't live in a rural area but I do have mobility limitations so it might be difficult for me to find something.

We finished making our blankets and sent them in. My mother, sisters and I worked on them together and had alot of fun. None of us received emails saying that we were in too remote of an area to participate (we are from Milton, Toronto and Vaughan, none of which are remote).

We also went to Value Village and picked up brand new fleece blankets for 5.07 (tax in) - they were 5.99 and 25% off, a tip I got from one of the previous posters. We cut out the four corners, cut slits all around and started knotting. It took me about 2 hours to make two blankets.

It cost us 9 dollars to ship from Toronto to Ottawa.

If you have any other questions, let me know.

When they ask you during sign up which park you would like your voucher for can you change your mind later? I picked DL but we have tickets now for DL and we might do one day at WDW during our USF/SW gig in November and would like to use our voucher there instead:confused:

Type in 99999 in the postal code search.

Thanks...I've got all the info and we are going to go ahead with it.

Funny, my DD really wanted to do one of these activities...I think she thought that if we had the park tickets I would agree to go again this year....even after I said not until 2011 because she is going to a dance competition in Myrtle Beach this summer.....so last night I tell her about the blanket project and she got this huge grin on her face and says 'oh so we are going this year'...I said 'oh no we are not. We are going to donate the tickets'....actually, I was thinking about going in the fall for a long weekend or for a couple of days after MB. :rolleyes1 Don't tell OK?

We are signed up for the blanket making activity and we mailed our blankets on Monday morning.

Today when I went under manage my account on the disney give a day web page, this is now displaying:

Pending Verification
The date of the volunteer opportunity has passed. Verification that the volunteer has completed their activity may take up to 2 weeks.

Prior to today it just said that I am signed up for an activity and I had until march 4 for them to receive the blankets.

Has anyone who has mailed their blankets received this and what does it mean?????

Thank you

I purolated mine Weds morning, and checked my status yesterday and it said the same thing, that we were signed up. Now today mine says the same thing as yours. So i am assuming, that they have received them and is now just to wait for Disney to send the voucher, but not sure!

Hmmm, mine doesn't say that. It was mailed out on Wednesday morning as well. My guess is that they received your blankets.

Do you need a sewing machine for the blanket one. It is the only option I am given and I am usless with the sewing machine

It means that they sent the info to Disney and you will be verified in a couple of days.( meaning you will be able to print your tickets!!!) I got nervous when I saw that too, but two days later there it was, verification!
Keep checking!

Thanks to everyone who responded to my last post. I really appreciate it.!!!!

K folks ... help me out ... so they WILL approve you even if you are not "remote"? We live in London Ontario. As well, I got the email for the sign up, but I don't see a minimum age restriction on it. My youngest is almost 10, and my oldest is almost 13. I wanted to do this as a family event and send 4 blankets. My DD made a double-sided one for Christmas for DS ... he was sooo excited. And one day, we even had DH helping us out. :thumbsup2 Will they allow both kids to sign up, given their ages?

Oh, and one other thing ... they give a suggested size on the toolkit, but underneath the info on the crocheted ones, they say the blankets can be ANY size ... does that apply to the fleece ones too? They have some great fleece panels that are more for littler ones so thought we'd do 2 "kids" ones and 2 larger ones.

TIA.

I did 2 kids ones that were the knotted ones, and did one crocheted one that was baby size as well, and one full size knotted one!!!They have received my blankets and am now "pending verification"from Disney!

We are all "pending approval" which I think means maybe we are OK and we were certainly NOT remote (as I mentioned Milton, Toronto and Vaughan).

I just went out to buy the fleece...it was buy 1 get 2 free....I only bought 3 meters and it's 150cm wide. Can I make 3 out of this or only 2 ???? By my calculations I can only do 2. Either way I have to go back for more as I'm making 4 blankets.

Also, I have a sewing machine...Do you think they would accept another type of fleece blanket that is finished with blanket binding? They had some really pretty material at the store.

I think any type of blanket is acceptable ... I think the tied ones are the sample because many of us in this world couldn't work a sewing machine if our lives depended on it! :rotfl2:

Where was the fleece on sale? I still need to buy mine for 4 blankets, so a sale would be great!

Does anyone know if there's an age restriction for the blankets? I want to sign up all 4 of us ... my kids are 9 and 12.

Thanks!
