Give a day volunteer search showing only American places?????

I think any type of blanket is acceptable ... I think the tied ones are the sample because many of us in this world couldn't work a sewing machine if our lives depended on it! :rotfl2:

Where was the fleece on sale? I still need to buy mine for 4 blankets, so a sale would be great!

Does anyone know if there's an age restriction for the blankets? I want to sign up all 4 of us ... my kids are 9 and 12.

Thanks!

Fabricland...but I think it's today only.

The age is 6 and over.

Fleece is also on sale at Value Village....but they are actually full fleece blankets (50X60) It comes to 5.07 total.

That's great...since I don't shop at Value Village I have to ask...do all stores have fleece? I thought it was a consignment type place....each store would have different stock.

The fabricland website says the buy 1m get 2m free is on till the 19th.

That's great....I thought it was only today because there was a sign on the door that said something about a sale that was today only.....I didn't read it carefully because I don't frequent the store.

The solid fleece is $17/m and the patterned is $20/m.....so with the sale you actually get 3m for $17 or $20.

Value Village is a thrift store, so all their merchandise is donations (and all stores work w/ a charity). I know they do have fleece blankets in right now which are new, and they are on sale.

Well, somebody mentioned it here in this thread (can't remember who) so I went to check it out and it was the same deal. The blankets are actually brand new. I think Value Village isn't all consignment, they have affordable new items as well.

The Saturday only sale was for Members of Fabricland's sewing club and was for today only. Just finished making 4 blankets with DH and 2 DD. My DD's now want one each as they love the blankets they each made. I guess it's back to Fabricland tomorrow:yay:

Thanks for all of your help. So I'm going to sign all 4 of us up. So I should wait though til I get confirmation that we've been "approved" to do this before I buy the fleece? Or is the original email I got that gave me the "toolkit" and link to sign up everyone the official "go ahead"?

Sorry for so many questions!

So thanks again!

I believe the tool kit is also the confirmation. There is a link on the same page that takes you to the register page for your members...

I received my voucher today!!! Happy, happy!!!! We did 2 knotted fleece baby blankets, and 1 crocheted baby blanket, and 1 knotted throw size fleece blanket!!! We had them sent to Ottawa via puralator on Weds, and received the email to print vouchers this morning!!!
Now just need to decide what park we are going to do. My girls are 8 & 10 and have never been to Epcot yet. This was to be the non disney vacation, because we are doing Discovery Cove. Do you think my girls will like Epcot?

My DD is 10 and it was her choice to go to Epcot this past summer. We had been a few times before but didn't spend any time in WS. She wanted to tour the countries. We had a great time...too bad it was the hottest day of our entire trip. :rotfl:

Thanks for all the help folks! We are now officially registered. :goodvibes My DD wants to go Fabric shopping TODAY! I'm pretty sure I'll be working on a blanket during Desperate Housewives tonight! :lmao:

This is such a great opportunity ... I was showing DD the info about it, and she was pretty excited to know that the blankets will be given to people in shelters, for example, and that it's something that they will be keeping as their very own.

Congrats to all of you keeners that have completed your blankets already, and vouchers in hand, or on their way! Great work!

Got my vouchers this morning also. Will use for trip this spring. Can't wait!!!!:goodvibes

Back from Fabricland. :goodvibes Thanks for the tip on that sale! DD and I of course were looking at all the really cute "girly" type prints ... and then we decided that many might think the same way, 'cause let's face it, they have some beautiful fleece in pinks and purples, etc. So we changed direction, and decided that we would make 4 blankets that have a more "male-appropriate" pattern on them. :) We chose a camoflauge one, and a lovely one with horses with very muted browns and blues for colour. DD is a horse-lover so we thought that was a great choice!

So what's the most economical way to send these to Ottawa? I see some did Priority post, and some Purolator. Did you box them up and wrap them in brown paper, or what?

Thanks ... yet again!

Your fabric choices sound wonderful.

Regarding shipping we put each blanket into a grocery bag (double bagged and tied the bags) and then put all the bags into a large gift bag. Then put the gift bag into a regular box (from No frills). Then used wide clear tape to tape up the box. We mailed ours from the post office (standard mail). From Peterborough to Ottawa it cost $15 and that included POD (proof of delivery) and a small fuel surcharge. It took 4 days for the blankets to arrive in Ottawa.

$15 for how many blankets? I have to ship 4...I think I will just double wrap them in brown paper and then go nuts with the clear packing tape.

Just mailed 4 blankets today from Ajax. I rolled my blankets put and elastic band around each and stacked them 2 on 2. The total cost to ship priority (this give you verification that package was delivered in about 2 busniess days)was about $13.50. The cost varies based on the weight as well as the dimentions of the package. If you can compress the blankets into a smaller package the less it will cost. I just wrapped mine in brown paper much like a present and sealed it with packing tape. Then I wraped it 3 times with the packing tape all the way around. It should arrive by Tuesday. Will keep all informed of how long it takes to get my verification and vouchers.
