I think this is a good promotion. For a day of serive, you get a day at a Disney park. Promotes good values. Rewards people for what they ought to be doing, any way.

I am curious to see where you can volunteer.

I just saw this on Good Morning America. Wonderful idea!:thumbsup2 I wonder it will work the same way as this years. If you've already got admission, you'll get a fast past or gift card.

Can't wait to hear more details!

for details...

(hhmmm... this was a ******* to the Disney site. Guess that is not allowed becaue it is to another travel site?)

Guests who present a valid multi-day ticket or Annual Pass or Passport may choose from one of the following three options instead of receiving the free 1-day, 1-park ticket:

Disney's Special FASTPASS® cards for certain attractions for you and up to 5 additional members of your party.
A collectible Ear Hat figurine with exclusive trading pins.
Donate your free ticket to a non-profit organization designated by Disney Parks.

I really like this idea!

I signed up for the email reminders.
The sign ups for actual volunteer opportunities come out on January 1st.

Vouchers for the free ticket must be used by 12/15/10- and we will have APs all of 2010. I'm not sure yet, but we might just donate our free tickets.
The point is to get people out and involved in their communities- and I am all for that. :thumbsup2

We should do a DIS volunteer day next year before and/or after the cruise!

I like this idea. This is a very good idea.

I'm in!!!!! This sounds AWESOME!!!!!!!!!:goodvibes

Can someone tell me where to go and find more info on this?? I didn't catch it this morning on Good Morning America. Thanks!!:thumbsup2

What's great too is that you can do a family volunteer activity and kids 6 and up will get a free ticket, parents just need to sign them up also. Really great! We are headed to California to vacation this summer and we'll use those tickets at Disneyland, woot!

I hope this is something I can take part in. I spend a lot of my time volunteering - a lot. So, hopefully the people I volunteer with will count.

This sounds like a great idea. I'll have to look into it for more info!

If this hasn't been posted already, it looks like there are some "blackout" dates that you won't be able to use the free tickets on:

The theme park tickets distributed under this Program will not be valid for use on the following dates:
For Walt Disney World® Resort: March 29 - April 8 and July 4, 2010
For Disneyland® Resort: February 13-14, March 21, June 21-22, July 4, November 21, and December 11-12, 2010.

That's from Terms & Conditions fine print from the website. So, if I'm reading the website correctly, we can't preregister until January 2010?

I am very excited about this. I will have to wait until later in the year so my son can do it with me. I am also hoping they will offer something in Pittsburgh.

Love it!! What a wonderful way for Disney to reach out and get people involved in their communities. We can never have too many volunteers in the world. How fun:yay:

Speaking of volunteering, there are other opportunities to volunteer at Disney. One such program that I have been involved for the past 3 years now is the Disney Sports Enthusiast Program.

There are many opportunities for volunteer. Take a look at:

http://disneyworldsports.disney.go..../detail?name=VolunteerOpportunitiesDetailPage

Even if you are on vacation, if there is an opportunity to volunteer while in the Central Florida area, I would urge you to do so. I have met many interesting individuals and have always had fun doing so.

My next 3 volunteer events are:

- The Tower of Terrror 13K (October 24th)
- The Children's Miracle Network Golf Classic (November 7 - 16)
- The Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend (January 7 - 10)

So check out the site and if there is an event that is happening while you are in town, sign up. We're always looking for volunteers.

I think it is a brilliant promotion!

Getting folks to volunteer (including kids...what a great way to teach them something positive) and getting folks into the parks. Win/win as far as I am concerned.

We are planning on treating our very good friends and their kids to a week in Disney in October of 2010. Since you can upgrade the one day tickets you earn from volunteering to other ticket media this promotion will save me quite a bit of $$$. I also think it will be so much fun to volunteer with my family, and teach my kids the benefits of giving. I am very excited!

Much better than what will you celebrate IMHO.
