Oh Steph, Big hugs and pixie dust to you and DS. I sure hope you can make the mini-meet, but we all know family and work come before vacation and fun.

I would love to have a big casual dinner somewhere the first night, we are talking Thursday, right? We can all chit chat, eat and drink, yeah!popcorn:: Since we are at Hojo's, maybe Mimi's would be good. Their food is SOOO GOOD and those of us who have a few cocktails can just swagger across the street to our room.

And yes, we did Goofy's for breakfast last time, it was great. Not a lot of character interaction until we basically demanded it, but it was a fun time. I would be up for Minnie's or Storyteller's.

What day are we thinking for the Segway tour? Cause that is in the morning too, I would want the breakfast a different day than that. No BB for me, but I would think a majority of the group would like that, you guys should plan it.
Yes, the casual night/pizza night or whatever it turns out to be will most likely be the official start of the trip which is Thursday night. Do you, or anyone, know if Mimi's has a banquet room where we could all sit?
If so, that would be great. I don't want us to have to split up for that first night though. I'll have to find that out. If not, then maybe ordering something to be delivered would be better. :confused3

I'm not planning on doing the Segway tour so I shouldn't have much say in it, LOL, but what about doing the character meal on Saturday morning and the Segway on Sunday which is what we'd talked about last time? :confused3

I need to get a list of the days and times all the tours are offered and keep it with me for reference cause right now I can't remember anything. LOL

Yes, Beth, I think a character breakfast Sat and Segway on Sunday. And casual dinner get together Thursday night. I don't know about Mimi's set up as far as a large party, but we should find out.

Well, we have a few things set up already, right!?

And as far as all getting the same iron on for a shirt we purchase ourselves is fine with me. But, heck, I am like so many of the girls, go with the flow, whatever everyone decides on is pretty much good with me!:thumbsup2

Boy, as far as the character meals go, I'm torn. I really liked the food at Goofy's, even though we didn't get character interaction until the end when we were all done with the food!
I like Minnies, too, but I liked Goofy's better. The creme brulee french toast and the lunch options were really appealing.
I've never been to Chip and Dale, so I'm not really sure what the food options are, although I've heard people like it because you can order a meal or do the buffet.
I also have really liked Lilo and Stitch. Love the bannana's foster french toast (do you sense a french toast theme? :confused3 :thumbsup2 ) and the food, generally.
I like doing the character meal on Sat., too. I think we had the greatest convergence of people around that day. Later seating is great to me, too.
I also like the idea of having a gathering at Hojo's. That way everyone can wander around and visit. Plus, it's generally cheaper. But, last time, we had quite a few ladies not wanting to even have a meal gathering that night because they didn't want to miss out on DL time. I personally thought it was a great time. Anyway, I could get the lime green posterboard and cut it out like Mickey Heads (for those on the last trip, you'll know what I'm talking about), and could bring some stuff to decorate them with. That would be fun. If we wanted it, I could also come up with some ideas for some get to know you games. That way it will force everyone to interact with everyone else......make sure everyone is made welcome.....
Wow, now I've got all these ideas floating around in my head....maybe I should volunteer to coordinate the opening night activities? The only concern I have is that IF I have a job by then (and by God I hope I do), I'm not exactly sure when I'd be able to get up to Anaheim. Maybe I could co-plan it with someone just in case I can't make it up there?

I can maybe even stop by Mimi's when I am there, so if they do have a large party room I can try to take a peek at it. Just in case. But the pizza idea sounds good too. Maybe a local can find out a good pizza place near the hotel so we can have that info too.

The more I think about each of us making our own tee the more I like it. It's the easiest way as far as fit because we can try it on before we buy. And we can still set up guidelines, (white, short sleeve, scoop neck, v-neck, etc) so we still look uniform.
I don't have a color printer or know how to do the transfers, but if we go that way, I'll figure something out.

I really think someplace where you have the option to order off the menu, like Chip and Dale or Lilo and Stitch, would be nice because if someone isn't a big breakfast eater or if they are trying to cut costs, then they don't have to get the buffet and yet they can still join the group.

Yeah, some people can only make it for the weekend or for Fri, Sat, Sun, so I like a Saturday breakfast.

I think we should just plan it, but if someone isn't interested that's ok too. But if you look at the front page, we have equal number of newbies versus vets and I just think it would be a nice, casual way to have the two groups mesh. kwim?

I think that's great! When we went to WDW we had fun putting a poster up on our doors. We'd have to double check it with Lorealle but I can't see why it would be an issue.

If you want to volunteer to help do that, that would be great. I'm sure we can find someone else, or maybe two others to work on that with you. I'll do it if no one else will! :yay:

Just like last time we are going to need volunteers to step up and be in charge of tours, meals, photopass, etc. So if anyone is interested, please keep an eye out as those opportunities will arise.

I'm pretty much up for anything too.

If we're looking into an off-site place, I'd gladly take three people in my car to In-N-Out! MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm yummmy!:goodvibes

Hey ladies! Long time, no post to this particular thread, but you know what happens when life gets in the way of making Disney plans!

Anyhow, I love Lilo & Stitch breakfast, and although we haven't tried it yet for breakfast, Storyteller's is great at other times of the day, so I would expect that Chip 'n Dale would be fun too.

Also, I love the idea of a kick back pizza and drinks night on Thursday. While I feel like I know some of you from reading so many posts, it would be great to have something low key on night 1 for us newbies!

Michelle: I would volunteer to co-plan with you for the opening nite festivities! I have some ideas on games too!

Hi Hi Cheshiregirl!... This will be my first trip with the girls, also. :goodvibes I Love Alice In Wonderland.. I just made a really kewl hoodie with the alice in wonderland theme. I'm going to wear it this weekend..eek! i'm so excitted.. my husband and i are going this weekend. { HaPpY DaNcE HaPpY DaNcE}

We have only 2 plans for this weekend..
1. Relax
2. Have a Good Time.

As for plans.. a mixer sounds good.. a nice way to meet everyone... pizza is always yummy.

A character breakfast would be fun.. I'm not familiar with each one has.. Does anyone have a link to menus for the character meals?

BB would be a nice time..:goodvibes

I'm going to be there too on Fri. and maybe Sat. nites!

I'll admit it's been hard to think about the March trip when we have our October family trip and the mini meet coming up. All my energy has been focused on that. And I've said it before, but I'll say it again, I cannot wait to see those of you attending the meet!! :cool1:

I know once I'm back from this family trip, then March will be all I can think and talk about. :rotfl: BUT if anyone has any ideas or thoughts, please toss 'em out there. Don't feel like you have to wait for someone else to suggest it or bring it up first. We'd all like to hear it. That goes for all our wonderful "newbies" too!!! :)

We've got lists posted for tours, so if you haven't added your name to one of those lists already, just let me know and I'll add you.

Hopefully those who need rooms at HoJo have made reservations already. If not, remember it's first come, first served so don't wait too long.

Are we still interested in doing some sort of get to know you meet and greet thing the first night there? Shall we try and do that at the HoJo? OR maybe plan a big official opening night dinner somewhere?

We can start thinking about meal ideas like Sarah said. Anyone interested in going off site for a meal? There is the Garden Walk which has things like Cheesecake Factory, California Pizza Kitchen, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., PF Changs, etc. That might be an option one day. (Lord knows I'd love me some cheesecake!!! LOL)

We still need ideas for the tees. What do you all think of each buying our own shirt, having a DISigner making us a design and everyone printing their own?? That would make it easier in some ways because each person can make sure to get the right size/style of tee, and no one person would be in charge of ALL the tees, no hassle with payments, etc. Everyone would be responsible for bringing their own. Thoughts on that?

Are we going to use the lanyards from last trip? If so, we need to find out where to order more since we have almost an equal number of new ladies this year. Or should we skip lanyards and go for something else matching like matching tiaras, or boas, or whatever.

Anyone know when the park hours will be posted for our dates? Is it in December? That will help a lot just knowing what's open and when.

Anyway, lots to think about. I promise you I haven't forgotten about it. LOL Don't hesitate to throw an idea out there. These aren't decisions that have to be made today, but rather things to keep in mind for when the time comes. I want everyone to have fun, get what they want out of the trip and feel like they were a part of the planning. :thumbsup2

I totally agree about being preoccupied. My Disneyworld trip is FINALLY next month! 3 years in the making and I can FINALLY say it is next month!!! So needless to say that is my preoccupation right now LOL BUT I did start looking on Southwest and would you believe they are only selling airfare through the 6th right now!!! So I can't get tickets yet BUT tickets to OC are pretty expensive SOOO mom and I are thinking about flying into LAX to save money and taking the Disneyland express. The GOOD news about that though is that we might be able to get in earlier. SOOO that means we could possibly meet that evening if you guys are doing a dinner Thurs depending on the time. Orig we weren't going to get in till like 8 or 9 coming in to OC but now we might get in as early as 5 to LAX so we might be to OC by 7. So hopefully we can work something out cuz I would DEF like to do a meet and greet to meet everyone since we are newbies!

I also like the T-shirt idea but I know for me and mom anyway that we are A)swamped with work and kid stuff and B) NOT creative so for us we would rather just buy a shirt somewhere but I understand if that is too difficult. But I do love the idea of matching shirts if it works out.

We do have rooms booked at the Hojo already so we are in as far as that goes and we are getting in SOMETIME thurs evening and leaving Sunday afternoon. I know we would like to participate in at least a few of the meals with others and whatever else. Not interested in any tours as we have done pretty much everyone there is but DEF want to meet up with everyone and perhaps hang out with some of the gals and see the parks or ride the rides with some of the gals. So that's my plan in a nutshell.

I'm pretty much up for anything too.

Now you are talking my language, fast and CHEAP!!!

Im another who wouldn't mind it being cool, but no rain. Definately no rain. I have hair issues and I don't want to scare any small children.

You, and your hair, AGAIN!!!

:

Mmmm, I love pizza. I'd be up for that. My one and only concern with that is are people going to be interested in that or are they going to want to be at Disney right away. Kwim? This is why I wish we knew the hours.

Yeah, I fear that there may be a contingency (me) who finds relaxing to be a WASTE OF TIME!!!!! Hard to eat pizza and shmooze when Disney is steps away!! Also, some will only be there the first couple days, (again me), so will want to get as much DL time in as possible. Of course, those individuals, (me) could just beg off and go off to the park alone!!!

Hey Steph.....hope things are less frantic today!!!

You can find the menus on www.allearsnet.com or just Google Disneyland menus and it will pop up.
Have a great time this weekend!!!

:rotfl2: I'd heard that about you. :rotfl: And that's cool. Now biggie. I'm sure not everyone will want to do the pizza/hang out thing but if enough people are for it I think it's a nice idea for those who'd like to get to know everyone first.
OR there may be some who are arriving so late that their not planning to waste a ticket at the park that day and would prefer to just hang out and eat dinner. Sort of relax and get ready for a full day on Friday.

Nothing we plan is every mandatory. Everyone can sort of pick and choose the things they want to do. :)

I've never seen the hot tub at the HoJo. It was closed for renovations in that area last time we were there. Is it fairly large?

I'm just wondering if that's also something to do that night. Dinner, drinks, door and room decorating and maybe the hot tub? :confused3 I know I won't go near a bathing suit personally, but it might be an option for others.

Beth: I definitely think we should plan something for the first night--if we do it at Hojo's maybe a pizza (order it in) salad and wine/beer party? and we could make things to decorate our doors?

or I like the dinner idea too . . .

I do think (especially for the newbies) it will help to be in a "safe" atmosphere to meet everyone the first time and get to know people. (Although we don't bite--promise!)

They are supposed to inaugurate the Big Thunder BBQ dinner sometime next spring--if it's open by then that may be a fun thing to do.

I love this! I think a meet would be good and I would love to do Big Thunder BBQ if it is open...I don't care for BBQ overmuch but I have heard there bathroom is the best one in DL!:rotfl2:

I love breakfast and I think a breakfast character meal would be a fun way to start off one of our days.

Plus there are so many more choices for lunch/dinner that I personally don't want to do a character meal then. I really enjoyed eating at HOB last time.

I think Rainforest Cafe would be fun. Not sure how they handle large groups but I like it there.

I love Rainforest Cafe and would be all for a meal there if we decide on it!

Come on Beth, you will be a hot momma by then!

So after reading the posts it sounds like the character meal that is getting the most votes is Chip and Dale. I like that idea because it is in the Grand Californian and that always feels so lush and like such a get-a-way which is what this is for so many of us ladies! Also it gives the option of the buffet or an order off the menu. More options is always a good idea with a large group! Should we do a poll? Maybe between Chip and Dale, Lilo and Stitch and Minnie and Friends? What does everyone think...and are we all agreed on breakfast?

Yeah let's do a poll.
I'll gladly put it up if no one minds. Where should I put it?

Why don't we keep polls on the DIS Meets board. Keep this board clutter free. That's where I posted the other ones I did.

I think you could ask people to vote for what character meal they want for breakfast on Saturday, March 7. I think we've all pretty much agreed on that day and on breakfast, so it's just a matter of do we want Chip and Dale, Lilo and Stitch or Minnie's.

Let me know once you get it up, and I'll post a link and update in the title. Oh, and I'd suggest keeping the poll up for about a week. That's usually enough time. Thanks!

Ok Beth, it's up!
Here's our poll

Yep, when you click on the photos, they take you to the image hosting site. Pretty clever idea though. ;)
