Steve Madden's Beamming Sandal

They're pretty simple and not super expensive, but I think they're pretty and will hopefully look nice under my dress :)

Hi Ginger! Just read though your whole PJ and am super excited about your wedding. We have a lot in common- long distance relationships, I went to Auburn so I have a special place in my heart for Alabama, and I currently live in College Station- just north of Houston! Just thought that was funny.

Anyways, I had an idea- why don't you put the wishes music on the iPod for the DP and have someone be in charge of starting it as close as possible to the start of the fireworks. That's what my sister and I do when we stay at Bay Lake Towers and watch the fireworks from the balcony. :cool1:

If you need me to send you the mp3, I will gladly do so! (I used to listen to it while studying at Auburn and in chiropractic school... because I'm a dork like that!)

We had a very small wedding party so it was just 2 guys and my sister. DH said the guys didn't have any music to get down the aisle and they were already at the altar when I got there. Everyone except my dad and I went together on the tram to the beach and my sister waited for me at the end of the aisle at the sidewalk. I did not have the mothers escorted to their seats, we tried to keep things as simple as possible so everyone sat themselves while the first song played. We had a small guest list, only 26 guests not including us and our wedding party. You arrive on the golf cart at 10 and they help you off the cart and help straighten out your dress etc then you get to walk down the aisle!! The guests are already seated when you get there.

You get a lot of looks and "oohs" on the golf cart to the site! It's all very exciting! If you have any more questions, just ask!

Hi!! :goodvibes Thanks so much for posting! Great to hear about our similarities, hehe! Are you originally from AL?

Your idea about the Wishes soundtrack on the iPod is a good one! That thought had crossed my mind earlier in the planning process, but then I heard from some other brides that DFTW can be a bit anal about the entertainment stuff since it's an outdoor location. Since I'm a bit scared of upsetting the Disney machine, DF and I just resigned ourselves to the fact that we'll have to cough out the money for AV. I think it's silly though to charge so much for a recording... :(

Are you a chiropractor?? That's awesome!! At Murdoch, Chiros took their intro anatomy courses with the vet students, and Chiro had the cuter guys, so that was kinda fun :lmao:

Are you also in the midst of planning a wedding? Do you have a PJ? If so, I'd love to follow your plans! Thanks again for joining in!

Hi Meaghan! Thanks so much for all that!! :goodvibes It was really helpful to get an idea of how the beginning of the ceremony goes!! I can totally understand wanting to keep things simple, and DF keeps chanting that mantra to me. I guess my personality has an inclination towards complication  Looking forward to riding on the golf cart! You make it sound like lots of fun!

My DH went to Auburn for grad school. War Eagle!! We did the long distance thing for a long time too, but Ginger and Tim will get to be together soon!!!

I actually grew up in New Orleans... but I've been all over with school and different internships under my favorite chiropractors.

Oh bummer about the Wishes music. Of course they would be anal about it.. considering they sell the CD in the parks and everything :confused3 Have everyone take out their smart phones with headphones on, hahahah... that would be funny.

I am a chiropractor- the boys tended to be cute, but they were jerks about halfway through school. I decided on a nice guy completely out of the profession. I had always thought I was going to marry a chiropractor, but Nick and I just clicked so well. It sucks though when we get off space mountain and I can adjust him but he can't adjust me! I feel so robbed :lmao:

We aren't "planning" one quite yet, but we have a trip next weekend to WDW... and it's pretty well established we are getting engaged sometime that weekend. So, soon. That being said, I have already planned most of it. Looking at WP and ADH. Also seriously considering the American Pavilion in EPCOT, but not sure about $$$.

Where are you guys looking to live in Houston? I just moved from The Woodlands up to College Station, and The Woodlands was wonderful. It was like Disney without, well... Disney. And the parks. And costumed characters... And, well you get it. There was tons to do and the area is pristine.

My DH went to Auburn for grad school. War Eagle!! We did the long distance thing for a long time too, but Ginger and Tim will get to be together soon!!!

War Eagle!!

Haha, I'm a big Alabama fan (my father is an alumnus, and I grew up going to games), so I must admit all these "War Eagle" cheers make me cringe just a bit  You ladies are lovely though, so I can look past your Auburn leanings.

Thanks for the sweet sentiment, Meaghan! Timmy and I are very excited to be near each other again. I'm moving to Houston next week! :woohoo:

We have our engagement session this weekend at the family farm! Wish me luck for that! Hopefully we'll look fabulous instead of awkward and uncomfortable ;)

War Eagle!!

Love New Orleans! If I could choose any place in the US to live for the next little while, I think I'd love to live there. It just has such a great vibe.

I think it's great that you met someone out of your profession. My best friend recently got out of a relationship with another vet, and she found it hard sometimes that they were so similar--tended to talk about work too much and compete professionally. Sometimes Tim and I can have difficulty relating to each other when we discuss our own jobs, but at least it keeps things interesting. When he pictured his dream girl, I doubt he expected to have to help pull calves occasionally, but variety is the spice of life :rotfl:

Getting engaged at Disney will be awesome!!! I'm guessing he's going to surprise you at some point that trip? WP and ADH are great venues. I adore the bridal portraits at WP. The grounds outside the pavilion are just gorgeous. If I were to plan a wedding at WDW, I would definitely be interested in the rotunda at the American Adventure. It's beautiful and one of my favorite spots at WDW. I know what you mean about it being a bit financially limiting though. I'm excited to hear what you decide :)

We're living in Katy at the moment since it's pretty close to Tim's work. I think we'll try to look for a house next year though once we've recovered from all the wedding expenses and can save up a down payment. Will definitely have to check out the Woodlands once I move out there :goodvibes

Big week this week! Jess Cumbie, our photographer, and her friend, Amber Veatch, a photoshoot stylist, are coming up to the farm this weekend to photograph our engagement shoot. I'm trying to get ready for that/iron out our concept for the shoot, so it's a bit stressful at the moment. Hopefully everything will go well though.

The other thing I've been working on this week is my wedding band. It's really important to me to purchase ethically sourced jewelry, so I decided to go with Brilliant Earth (http://www.brilliantearth.com/), a jewelry company out of San Francisco. Since my engagement ring is a custom design, I knew I'd probably need a custom design for the wedding band as well. I've been talking to a lovely gemologist at the company named Beth, and we've narrowed it down to the following options (pictured with a standard six prong ring similar to mine):

6ProngClassicSet1.jpg

Platinum Knife-Edge Band

6ProngClassicwithPaveMilgrain1.jpg

Pave Milgrain Diamond Band

BE2PD15R15M_white_top_lg1_1.jpg

Pave Milgrain Diamond and Pink Sapphire Band

All bands would be made out of platinum and require a small notch, so that they can sit flush with my engagement ring. I emailed Beth today to ask about how the notch would affect the Pave bands, but if it doesn't make a big difference to the appearance, I'm leaning toward that design (but maybe with a solid edge instead of the milgrain). Due to my profession, I won't be able to wear my engagement ring as much as my band, so I'd like it to be pretty in it's right. I really like how the plain band looks with the ring, but I think it'll look too simple on its own.

What do you all think? Diamonds or plain? Do you think a diamond and sapphire band would be a nice option, or is it too trendy?

Thanks!!! :goodvibes

Congrats on moving to Houston to be with your man! I know you can't wait! :goodvibes

I'll keep the Auburn comments to myself! I personally went to USF in Tampa (as did DH for undergrad). I'm a supporter through marriage!

I personally like the look of the band with diamonds. I like having a little more than just a smooth band. A friend of mine has the diamond and sapphire band/engagement ring duo and I think it looks great! I like a little color!

I wanted sapphires or emeralds (my mom has emeralds and diamonds) but DH didn't like the sapphires and completely forgot about the emeralds. We had all kinds of talks about the band, I wanted to use my grandmother's gold band and it turned out his grandmother's band was platinum/engraved like my engagement ring so we had the 2 wedding bands put together.

Living here, I only wear my band for safety reasons, so I completely understand what you're wanting. In the end, it's totally what looks good to you! And, what works for you professionally. I'm sure the animals will be very appreciative with just a band and not your engagement ring too! ;) We didn't do the notch so as not to hurt the antique bands, and it worked out better since I don't wear my engagement ring that often anymore. But you'd be surprised how quickly you get used to the fact that they don't sit together perfectly. I thought I'd be annoyed by it, but I don't even notice really.

So, I guess my opinion is diamond with a little color. What's Timmy's birth month? You could do that month's stone, or opal and diamond since that's your wedding month. Sapphires are pretty with the diamonds and if they hold special meaning to you, don't worry if it's trendy or not!

Ok, enough from/about me with the long post. Sorry for the hijacking! I'm sure whatever you decide will look great! :goodvibes Can't wait to see what you pick!

So, all we get here on tv really is reruns of Discovery channel shows (some other stations too, but I watch a lot of DC) and Animal Cops Houston is on today. It's a rerun that I've seen before, but I just noticed the name of the equine clinic today after your post. It's the Katy Equine clinic. Weird how you see something that reminds you of someone! (same kind of thing happened earlier with a connection to my sister too)

Just thought I'd share! :happytv:

Alright, I've given it a lot of thought... and I think... DIAMONDS!! You're right, I do like the way the plain bank looks with the engagement ring, but if you have to wear it without the engagement ring, I would go with Diamonds. Now here's where I get torn: I don't know if I prefer the all diamonds, or the diamonds and sapphires! I would probably lean towards all diamonds only because "it would match everything". But I do love colored stones, which is why I'm torn! Luckily my rings were a set so I don't have to worry about a "notch" like you do- I'm trying to picture exactly what that means, because I'm no jeweler! What sucks about my job is that I can't wear my engagement ring OR my wedding band because of Florida food and beverage safety laws! If I had a plain ring with no inscriptions, I could wear that. *sighs* It sucks having to slip it on and off every day!

Congrats on moving to Houston to be with your man! I know you can't wait! :goodvibes

USF! I went to University of Tampa :goodvibes Okay, I kinda hated UT, but I love Tampa! It was a great place to live!

Hi Meaghan!
Thanks so much for your input! It's easy to get tunnel vision when you look at the same three photos for way too long, so it's so nice to have your opinion! :) I agree with you about a ring with stones... I think it just adds a bit more to the engagement ring. I'm still undecided about plain diamond vs diamond & pink sapphire. I placed a call to the jeweler to discuss my dilemma with her, and haven't heard back yet. :headache: Hopefully I'll hear back from her in the next couple of days. I'm concerned about time getting short, and the ring being completed on time.

As far as how the notch will affect the look of the ring, I'm really uncertain about this... I'm hoping the jeweler will be able to shed some light on this...

So, all we get here on tv really is reruns of Discovery channel shows (some other stations too, but I watch a lot of DC) and Animal Cops Houston is on today. Wow!! That's quite serendipitous, eh?? :goodvibes Thanks so much for thinking of me!!

Hi Jillian!! Hope Isaac isn't giving you too much grief down there! Stay dry and safe!

Thanks so much for your input! I'm thinking diamonds too. As I mentioned above, I'm still at a loss as to color or no. I think all diamonds is classic and beautiful, but there is something unique and appealing about throwing a few sapphires into the mix. I'm hoping the jeweler can give me some info that will make the decision easier for me.

That's sad about not being able to wear your rings at all! I know the safety laws are looking out for the consumer, but they don't understand how thrilling it is for us engaged ladies to wear our rings

My vote goes for the diamond band!

Thanks!! :) Looks like the consensus was diamond band. I appreciate your help with this! Will update when I hear from the jeweler!

I apologize for my brief absence from the DIS. This weekend was absolutely crazy--in a very good way! :)

Friday was my birthday, and I spent the day in Atlanta getting beautified at the salon (color, cut, eyebrow waxing). Other than the waxing (ouch...), it was a lovely way to spend the day. My colorist and I decided to bump up my natural color for the wedding, and we also discussed the possibility of extensions for the wedding. Ever since I was a little girl, I have dreamt of having long (to my waist) soft curls, so I figure what better excuse to live the dream than your wedding  Right now, I have a consultation appointment scheduled for Sept, so we'll see how that goes and then decide for certain if I want them.

Also on Friday, I picked Timmy up from the airport (yay!) and headed back down to the farm to meet with our wedding photographer, Jess Cumbie. She and Jacksonville wedding stylist, Amber Veatch, had driven up to AL to do our engagement shoot. Before I decided on a DCL wedding, I had thought about having a wedding at my family's cattle ranch. Even though the ranch is gorgeous and quite meaningful, I realized the logistical stress of trying to plan a wedding there was just too much at this venture in my life. Instead, Timmy and I went with the DCL wedding, but decided to have our engagement shoot at the farm.

Our engagement shoot concept was vintage farm shoot with travel details. Amber brought a bunch of neat little props to use, and then we spent the better part of 6 hours driving around the farm taking photos. Timmy and I were a bit worried it might be awkward being all PDA-ish in front of the camera, but we ended up having a good time. After we got the initial nerves out and just focused on each other, we had fun. It'll be a while before the bulk of the photos are available, but Jess did send a couple of preview photos that I'm super excited to share! :cloud9:

There's a really neat picnic scene also that I don't have photos of yet. Stay tuned for more! ;)

Ginger - Your hair looks beautiful! You and Timmy look so cute and natural together; no awkwardness shows :} The family farm provides great scenery for your photos :thumbsup2

Those pictures are amazing! I love the use of the farm too! You two look so magical. ;)

Thanks so much, Courtney!! :goodvibes The farm is very rustic, but we love it. It was really fun to take the photos there.

LOVE the photos! So cute!

Happy belated Birthday! :bday:

Thanks, Meaghan! :goodvibes

really cute pictures.

Thanks so much!! :goodvibes

Thanks, Valerie!! :goodvibes Glad you liked the photos! I appreciate the compliments about my hair. I told my stylist that I really loved Jessica from True Blood's red, so we decided to bump up my strawberry blonde color :lovestruc For the shoot, I just curled my hair with my GHD iron, fluffed it a bit, and then hair sprayed to the max

Oh and happy belated birthday!pixiedust:
