Since there have been lots of posts about Christmas 2011 and Black Friday 2011 I have been thinking about WHAT I am going to get my kids for Christmas! So I decided to start a thread for gift ideas for children aged 4 - 6. We can make thread for many age groups :)

Post what you are getting the 4, 5, and 6 year olds in your life! Post what they are asking for this holiday season as well as for their birthday!

My 6 year old will most likely be getting money for her summer vacation to spend at AG in NY($25-$50) a new bed set, some cheap smaller girl toys like little pet shop which now thankfully they sell at the dollar store;) She has enough toys and such, might throw in a few new outfits.

My nephew is getting custom made scrub PJ's if I like the ones that my DD is expecting in the mail from Etsy . My Niece ,I was thinking of doing the same thing or buying a handmade crayon/colouring book carrier from Etsy.

My 6 year old is really into her Bitty Baby twins, so we'll probably get accessories for them. She also likes craft stuff (kits to make necklaces, bracelets, picture frames, etc).

My almost 5 year old wants a DSi. She has a DS but it doesn't take pictures. I wonder if she would prefer the DSi XL or the DS 3D?

For Christmas gifts at the young ages I always waited until about November to shop as there is a good chance they will change their minds. I did pick up stocking stuffers as I found them.

For my boys it was more about 1-2 big things that they really wanted, and then we filled out with books and some smaller things.

But to really answer your question, my godson is 3 years old (almost your age group) and I got him a James (Thomas train) t-shirt and socks for his birthday. He loved them. For Christmas each year he gets one piece of a nativity set that I counted cross stitched. He already had the creche. So far he has Jesus, Joseph and Mary. (They showed up all at once!) an angel and a shepherd.

As he gets older I plan to give him gift cards for his birthday. Right now his mom knows just what he wants.

Thanks to Target and Kmart's toy clearance I am DONE! DD will be a few weeks from turning 4 on Christmas. She's getting:

-Disney princess bike
-one package each of Polly Pocket, Zoobles, and Littlest Pet Shop (she doesn't really know what these are but sees them/hears her friends at dance class talk about them, and they were on clearance, so why not)
-magnifying glass
-baby doll with high chair and food
-Leapster game
-Princess and the Frog DVD
-Iron Man helmet
-book about the human body
-playdoh set
-Toy Story Operation game

Can I just get them nothing and tell them we're saving for Disney? ;)

My 6-year old (girl) wants Furry Frenzies (like zhu-zhu pets, but there are dogs, cats, mice). She also has been asking for "GoGo My Walkin' Pup" since last Christmas, but that thing is $40-50 and I just don't know how much she'll play with it. She's also a sucker for tiny toys like Squinkies. Cute flower headbands too. We also buy blank paperback books at the art store and she writes/draws stories.

For my almost 4-year old boy, this is the year of the LEGO. He has the Duplos, but we're moving him up! My girls and boys both enjoy LEGOs, and we're going with a box of assorted pieces, as opposed to a set that makes one certain project.

And books. ALWAYS books!

I have been thinking about this alot lately!

I am thinking my 6 yo DS may be getting:

legos
books
some Discovery Toys games
new clothes
Cars 2 Bluray
a new bike

they usually get GCs to Build a Bear

and he will probably get 3DS or NGP

looking forward to some ideas!

Also....there are a lot of brand new & innovative board games that just came out for Xmas. Check Toys R' Us for the best selection.

My son is almost 6 and has been into Legos and Playmobil since he was about 4. I think these toys are great for girls or boys.

So what is everyone getting for their 4-6 year olds? I am getting Happy Napper, alarm clock radio (Hello Kitty), Jewelry Box, card game Zoobles, Dolls...
