Ghost Hunters Thread & Personal Ghost Experiences & other Paranormal Talk.

I just seen it youtube again, and wow that coat thing looking worse and worse:confused3

I kinda thought at the time "Grant take off the coat and show everone nothing is there" and you would think BOTH of your hands would be up at your neck feeling around, not one with the other never leaving your pocket!

I just don't get why they have to advertise a show that has nothing to do with the show they are actually doing. There was one point where the chubby chick had to ask him what the similarities were between ghost hunting and wrestling. C'mon!

It wouldn't surprise me at all if some of the stuff was made up just so that the Halloween show could have stuff happen. No one wants to watch 7 hours of something for nothing. We'll see what happens.

To all who doubt the voice and jacket pulling.... You are correct. This will sound lame but shocking. The voice isn't "recorded" but altered by talking through an electronic device. My kids have an Optimus Prime helmet/mask thing that makes the EXACT SAME VOICE when you talk through it. So you can imagine my stomach sink the instant I heard it. I have no doubt that's what it was. I've rewound it and it makes me sick.

As for the Jacket, I too noticed that when it was pulled, it was only the little bit on the collar. The jacket itself did not move. Have a family member put on a coat and see what it takes to pull someone back when they don't expect it. It'll go all the way up to their neck before you'll be able to stop them. I also noticed his right hand in his pocket in all but one case, and in that particular case, it was still touching his pocket, and somewhat obscured. I want to go back and watch to see him pull the collar before it happens.

I haven't missed an episode of ghost hunters since i started watching it. but if they don't come out about this, I'll quit watching as of now. I thought the whole thing was a serious joke, and if so, they should have said so before ending the show that night. Now there will always be that doubt, even if they admit to faking this. Because you won't know if they would've intended to admit it or that they just got "caught" I'm so pissed.

I was seriously hoping that I would log on tonight to see that someone had been able to prove that I was incorrect in thinking that something wasn't quite right about the jacket pull... but it appears not. :guilty:

I can't tell you how sad I am. :sad1:

My DH said, when I showed it to him, that he couldn't imagine why I was surprised. He felt that having a wrestler on these shows is almost an admission that it's "fake."

While I disagree with that, I do see what he's saying. Doesn't lend to credibility, does it? :confused3

Sad agreement. I thought the jacket thing looked fishy, and played it back multiple times.

I'm right there with you wdwbarb. The only reason I'm tuning in Wednesday is to see if they admit the error of their ways. If they don't, I don't think I'll be watching anymore.:guilty:

There was a thread started on the sci-fi forums:

http://forums.scifi.com/index.php?showtopic=2318174

74% thought the collar thing was faked. (I'm surprised the number is so low)

I would think that because this is a Sci-Fi forum, Sci Fi obviously knows they aren't getting away with this crap. An explaination MUST be given now.

I just went to the TAPS website and looked at their forums too. Someone copied and pasted a paragraph from Grant's myspace page:

The Jacket Pull - This was an amazing paranormal event for me. Some people said that they think I faked it. I have absolutely no idea how I could have faked that. No clue. How could I make my jacket pull out? And why did it change temperature on the thermal when it was pulled out? Some people say that my hands were in my pocket, whatever that implies. My hands are often in my pockets, especially when it is freezing cold. Seriously, watch any episode. BUT, my hands were not in my pockets when this happened. At most, my right thumb was in my right, front pants pocket. I honestly thought I had snagged on something.

I looked at the coat thing. *IF* this was a hoax and a string was used, wouldn't the string have to be on the outside of the coat and wouldn't it show up on the thermal? Maybe I missed it, but his whole hand was not in his pocket, only the fingertips.

I don't know, I just don't buy the jacket was faked. Now the voice I am on the fence on.

So basically, they aren't going to fess up to anything. It will be a shame though if it turns out it really is real.

His hand never was in the jacket pocket, but in the pants pocket. I'v been watching and watching, pausing it over and over trying to detect any kind of motion with his hand where he might have tugged on something..

I agree it looks fishy, and I am hoping that it is explained in detail on the show. And that voice? :confused3 I am unconvinced that is was an actual voice. Another wait and see.

To the person who doesn't believe that the jacket pull was faked... all you have to do is watch just as Jason is fixing err "checking" Grants collar. Just as he's finishing he pats the bottom of the collar and then the upper back of his coat to hide anything from showing. Right after that the collar retracts down without anyone touching it. And i do not think the second pat on the back caused the collar to fall. And i do not believe it to be as simple as a string, but more like a bike cable likedevice. Then they could concentrate the movement right at the lip of the hood, which by the way does not move backward, but downward. The very first time it got "pulled, it looked very good, and if it ended at that, we wouldn't be having this conversation I'm sure of it. I am the biggest Ghost Hunters fan, so it's not like I'm out to prove them wrong all the time. This incident just disgusts me so much because they would stoop to this level. This is EXACTLY what they preached against when they started out. I'm sure Sci-Fi put them up to it, but they did NOT have to do it. This hurts badly, it was the only show I watched religiously.

i do not want to believe that it is true but when i watched it again, everytime it happens he never moves the one arm and leaves it in his pocket. I would think that if you felt like you were getting pulled you would move both arms to see what was going on.

I watched it again and I noticed that Grant kept using the hand holding the mini flashlight to check his collar. Why wouldn't you use the other hand since it is empty? Or was it?

I'm still just so depressed about this. I'm anxious to see the "reveal" tomorrow night and see if the address it (and I SO hope they do).

I, unfortunately, started reading some of those websites that dispute some of the evidence presented on GH. Ugh, I need to stop. :headache:

If you mean me I didn't say I didn't think it wasn't fake, I hope it is not and I watched the video over and over to try and see proof it wasn't fake and that I did NOT see. I'm waiting to see what they say about it tomorrow. I'm guessing probably not too much.

so tell me did you join the DIS just to post on this thread?

Ugh, you guys are bumming me out. I really hope they aren't staging things for the show. That goes against what they preach on the show!

This was the first time I really questioned their integrity. I agree that his hand was suspiciously fiddling in the pocket each time his jacket moved. I don't remember him walking around with his hand in his pocket like that ever before, but haven't had time to check other episodes. We can't be the only ones who noticed something fishy.

I'll be really disappointed if they're stooping to cheap tricks to get ratings.
