Getting to the end of my rope with Pirates

I know this is a rant, but I thought I'd share what I just wrote to the blackhole after a particularly rude person flamed everyone in a game of pirates. Why do they still allow chatting in pirates is beyond me. Will they ever disable that function?

"I am very unhappy with the way VMK is handling situations. I just reported a very rude player who was being extremely rude in the pirates game and when I reported him I received a message stating that I would be banned if I continued to abuse the system. Then what is the report function for? Even about this message box there is a note that states "Always Call for Help if you see someone breaking the rules or if someone is making you feel uncomfortable. That way, a VMK Moderator can come and help you.". I cannot believe that text in enabled in Pirates. There is no need forit and people are repeatedly cruel and rude, working their way around the dictionary using words like 'dumbo' 'she it' 'stinks' and numerous other to make others around them feel badly. You cannot mute players in Pirates and many people that play are children. VMK doesn't hold the values I am used to when it comes to Disney even though it states it does. I'm appalled with the handling, or rather disregard in handling, situations I've seen and head in the VMK."

The same could be said of HM. I've seen many rude and crude people while playing the last month.

The messaging functionality should be disabled within all games inside vmk, and I agree with you 100%. Although, This doesn't help with other areas of the game since those same words will still be utilized unfortunately. Hopefully, You didn't take the canned message from vmk staff negatively...This is just a basic message they send to all players when they report someone. The reason they have these canned messages is because too many players where reporting other players for no reason and these canned messages are a first warning to players who report others falsely. If you decide to report someone falsely then vmk staff will take action against you, but if you have a valid isssue or problem then the vmk staff will definitely look into the issue and take appropriate action against this player.

NOTE: The action against the player may not happen immediately, but they definitely will look into the issue further.

I understand your feelings/statements. People always have the choice of exiting the game during times with those rude player(s) - which I have exited at times.

However, I prefer to have the ability to talk in potc games for the mere fact that it is helpful in trying to assist newbies or new friends in how to play the game in moving the ships and/or shooting. Also, if you play with friends it's fun to be able to talk to them during the game. Not everyone is rude during the game and it would be sad to lose that part of the fun. I hope they don't take that part out of potc!

However, I do agree that they need to stop threatening "you could be banned for abusing the system" box - I know my friends and I've gotten that message when reporting people for "cursing" and/or making very rude remarks to other players.....almost makes me not report anymore - notice I said almost....(I usually don't bother reporting when they say "mean things" to me bc I already know what "jerks" they are...it's when they say these things to others that I say to ignore the rude person who is being mean; and then I report that "jerk"

Also to the right to leave the game, yes you do. But, you lose 21 credits. If you play 10 games and every other game has extremely rude players, do you really want to leave 5 games? I have been in 5 or more games in a row where people were rude, mean, etc. If I did this, I would lose 105 credits. Sorry, but having to pay out credits to play the game should allow us the right to play without the rudeness and for us to finish the game.

I can understand why people want to talk in the game, and under the circumstance I can understand why people DONT want there to be talk in the game.

If they cant moderate the games then they really should consider removing talk until they can. I dont play the games much, but its obviously out of control by the posts I read here and other sites.

Talk gives lag! I wish VMK would ban all talk except gl, gg, nice shot, and sorry in potc games. Also, people are very annoying sometimes.

True, instructions are there to read. What I was referring to was a group of friends helping a newbie learn and none of us as friends mind "risk getting killed and losing" to help people learn to play. After all, we were all new at potc before too.

Do I want to leave 5 or more games - not really, but I have if I am playing without a friend(s) as my partner and simply join another game. If playing with friend(s) as partners and the other team is being extremely rude we usually announce "bye" so our team knows to leave and start another game. So, personally, losing credits because I/we left the game does not bother me at all.

Losing these paid credits could easily be made up in the next game or by going to "play music" every 15-20 minutes if desired. Or ghosts and fireworks where no credits are paid.

I would not want ghosts or potc to be the same as Jungle Cruise or Fireworks - I mean where's the fun there if you're by yourself during the games. Battle or capture flag with friends include lots of laughter going on while we "pass popcorn around," "do you have any trees? Go fish," or "wow, look at all this ocean floor down here"

In answer to your "having to pay out credits to play the game should allow us the right to play without the rudeness and for us to finish the game." Perhaps an "Ignore" button in the game as mentioned by others would be the best answer for all, just a thought.

I so agree with Funfly!! Chat is what makes these games fun! I really think I'd give up my beloved pirates if I couldn't talk with my friends during the game. We love to joke around and poke fun at each other ("nice shot Pink!" when my gold comes flying out to hit rocks... no enemy ship in sight...). Some of my BEST MEMORIES on VMK have been during pirate games. We have laughed until we cried during many games out on the high seas.

We also use chat heavily for strategy and advice during the game.

I understand the rude players and the comments. Just ignore them if it bothers you so much. But I have to admit, I actually enjoy it when someone shouts out "Lose.her!!" or "I hat you!!". I'm weird - that totally makes my day when playing pirates

Now people that QUIT in the middle of the game because they are losing and causing you to forfeit your winning credits..... GRRRRRRRR that's an entirely different story that I'd love to see VMK correct. Why penalize the "winners" when a poor sport decides to exit the game... And they KNOW it, which is why they DO it!

Know what you mean about some quitting just because they're losing - that we don't do.
