Today we're pulling out the luggage, starting to get ready for Disney's HHI resort. Is there anyone there now who can say if the jelly fish are still in the water? Also, a question about the HHI Diner. Which location is closest to the resort? We leave in a week....:cool1:

Jellyfish-I don't know about today, but we saw them swimming on 4/25 ouside Salty Dog, then we saw dead ones on the beach by the Beach House on 4/26. Supposedly, those jellyfish aren't stingers.
HH Diner is on the main road, real close to the resort. We haven't been there in about 6 years, but DH liked it and keeps bugging me to go back (I was less than thrilled). So please let me know how you like it. A positive report would probably convince me to give it another chance.

We've eaten at The Diner once and I don't remember it being that great. Just okay.

Hello, Miss Hope :flower3: It has been a very long time. Seems a little early for the jellyfish and no storms in the Atlantic to blow them inshore. I think you're good for a while. Not sure if you're talking about the onsite grille that is only open for breakfast and lunch or asking what restaurant is closest. The closest restaurant is Kingfisher. At least about 5 years ago it was. We're not real picky and aren't much for eating out, but I can recommend them.

Have a great time!

Hi Rob!!! I have been two years trying to get to HHI! Finally getting there next week.

There is a diner there called " HHI Diner". The web shows two of thes, I was wondering which address was closest to the resort.

Hope all is well with you and your family...:flower3:

The Marina Drive location is closest - turn right out onto Rt 278 and it's just past the mini-golf course. About 1/4 mile south on 278.

I'm not aware of another HH Diner except Harold's Diner, which is about 2 miles left (north) on 278 at the first stop light beyond the Shelter Cove Mall complex.

Ok got it!:) is there a furniture store around the Outlet Mall? I was thinking of buying a wooden kitchen table set while I was down there. The Carolinas are known for their fine furniture(of course we'll have to pay shipping:().

Just adding my two cents. Had to eat at HH Diner one time when we got there very late....midnight. Would never eat there unless I had to. So many better options on the island. Harold's Diner is a whole different experience that we never miss!

I just got back....today...boo-hoo. Anyway, there were starfish everywhere. I did not see any jellyfish in the ocean while swimming however; we went on a dolphin cruise and they were visable in the water (large quantities).

The diner was close. I was not aware there is more than one location. Pull out of the drive, go right and it is about 2 blocks down. It is $$$$$. I paid 25 bucks for pancakes and hot tea for 2.

Ok, Harold's Diner it is! Just need to google it now! Thanks for the jellyfish update. Sounds like they are moving back out to sea. I love starfish and don't have any. What do you do with them so as to make them a "souvenir?" do you take them from the water and let them dry in the sun?

You can keep any you find washed up on the beach, but are not supposed to remove any live ones from the ocean. Same thing goes for sand dollars.

There are signs posted at each beach access point stating the beach rules.

Yeah, that's what I mean't. Washed up onto the beach. But what do you do with them? Are they supposed to dry in the sun?

Can you wear shorts to eat in those places? I am planning a no dress up vacation! ;)

:thumbsup2 yup! No dress up needed for those, even bonefish which was a little fancier than the others. No dress up for our vacation either!

We found one once in the Bahamas and there was a guy on the beach there who had a little business going...he gutted them and preserved them with formaldahyde so they wouldn't stink. (Not sure what dead starfish smell like but I was guessing it could be similar to dead fish?! :confused3) I don't know if this was necessary or not tho but we thought it seemed like a good idea so we did it.

This is what I mean! I don't want to take home dead fish! So I was wondering how one goes about getting those starfish as a souvenir?:confused3
