Getting Herbie Codes Idea....

Just a thought and I hope none of you live near me (you'll see in a second), but I was thinking of a way to score some Herbie codes that I don't mind sharing.

Considering your local movie rental stores (Blockbuster, etc.) may get in multiple copies of Herbie, then I am thinking that if you are friendly with Store management that they may be able to hold the box contents aside for you.

I haven't asked my local store yet, but figured it may be a great way to get some codes without buying the movie and being able to have enough to share/trade with friends.

lol i had the same thought! but since it says specially marked boxes, i wondered if they would even get those... ?

Hi this is my third post, I just love jumping right in.

I went to my local video store last week and asked about this, the store clerk told me to come back this Friday at 2:30 (that is when UPS will deliver) and she would let me have them. I asked for only two, one for each playing child, but hope she will have more. My sister and nephew would like one also.

I told my kids they had to make a real big thank you card for the clerk she was really nice about it.

Unfortunately I can't make promises on codes as I am unsure at this point if my local video store will do this for me.

However what I am thinking that like the Space Suit Threads, there will more than likely be a Herbie Gift thread going sometime next week.

All I know is these video stores must be saying to themselves, "Who are these Disney lunatics?!?"

lol at this thread. I had sorta the same though, except I was going to go rent three copies the day it came out, remove the codes and return the movies. I need to get three sets of the codes, one for myself and one for each child. I will ask about just getting the codes.

I'm in Scotland and managed to get a copy off PlayUSA you should check it out, no charge for import or shipping

I have not worked at a video store so I am not speaking from experience.

But since they buy in bulk I would imagine they dont get the same packages we as consumers get. My guess would be the video stores will not get boxes with codes. They get cheaper packaging and so forth.

By all means you should check, but keep this thought in mind so you are not disappointed if I am right. I will be curious to hear how people do!

Hi aengus, I had this thought also and asked the store clerk if they received the same videos that the general public are able to buy, in other words did they get promotional stuff in their movies. She told me they did and she usually leaves all of it in the videos and puts it on the self. With "Born Idenity" (or it's sister movie) there was free movie tickets in the movies.

With this said I am still not getting my kids hopes up just in case the clerk is mistaken, I have warned them the codes may not be there.

Well I just called my local video stores...

One chain said they do not get promotional stuff with their videos just the disc

The other- gets the exact same as retail and two of the stores will call me when they arrive and one said for me to call them after 4pm on Friday and he will pull them out for me...

Of course one of the three above is a good friend to one of my best friends- I plan on calling her and seeing if inbetween cleaning up the hurricane mess in her home if she will ask for the codes for me- he will probably give her every one they get.

DS who frequents the stores also said he'd go and ask for codes too and said often all the stuff is in the boxes on the shelves.

So I may be able to help a few people out here... will keep you posted this weekend.

Ok I did call the Block Busters and Hollywood Videos around my area. They had the videos in, both the ones they rent and the ones they sell. Of course they did not open the ones they sold, and they check the ones they rented and found nothing in them as far as a card or paper having any type of code.

Maybe it was just the area around here, but no go...Am I am not going to buy the Herbie Video..lol...Kinda ruined the classic videos in my book...Anywho..no biggie...but wantede to see if anyone actually got the codes from the local video stores...
