My DDs have a sister-only trip coming up this month. Arrive on Friday. They decided on this trip inside the ADR window so missed out on 'O, but they really want to eat there the evening they arrive. If they get to the Poly around 8:30 pm is there a chance they can get in? 2 people.

There's always a chance, but have them keep checking the app for an opening, especially the day before. If it doesn't work out they can always go to Tambu Lounge and get some of the menu items from 'Ohana. We had noodles, pot stickers and that amazing bread pudding there on our last trip.

I don't have any experience in that BUT....

I know that if you missed your window you are NOT out of luck completely.....keep checking the site! Things are always changing!

I was going to suggest that too! But I wasn't sure what aspects of the experience they wanted

My friend and I did that on a MNSSHP night and saw the fireworks from the beach after a visit to Trader Sam's and grabbing a Dole Whip :)

Thank you. I have already suggested and will suggest again to go to the lounge.

I have been helping them check in case one pops up for Friday night. So far no luck. This is their first sister trip and I want them to have a blast!

I always see lots of availability changes in the 24 hours or so before. The key is just to keep checking in case something does pop-up. Also, check for other sized groups such as 3 or 4 and modify down once you snag the reservation. Certain restaurants seem to favor certain sized groups.

I’d do as others said and keep checking the app, because people will cancel. But every time we’ve eaten there, and every time we’ve stayed at Poly and been around the area, the restaurant and the whole area around it are always absolutely packed with people waiting on their ADR times. So I wouldn’t count on a walk-up.

Back in the day of 6 months in advance ADRs I didn't book the trip until 4 months, and I kept the page open on my computer at all times and just refreshed from time to time....I always scored what I needed, except for one time at Trattoria al Forno where I snagged that the day before while getting ready to leave for the parks.....

Keep in mind that ‘Ohana has very few tables of 2. I would suggest searching for a table of 3 and modifying down to a table of 2 once you confirm the reservation. You’ll have much better luck getting a reservation that way.

Moment in time and a Friday is likely different than a Tuesday (and I suspect the app underestimates the wait time at this venue) but at the moment the app says an estimated 20 minute wait with the “Join Walk Up Wait List” feature, FWIW. If people are ok rolling with things, it’s not the worst plan in the world to head to Poly, join that wait list as soon as you're close enough to Poly grounds (the app is location restricted), and hang around Poly while waiting - hit Tambu Lounge, stroll the beach, grab a drink at outdoor Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace, do some shopping, etc. It’s a great resort to be “stuck waiting” for your time since you have lots of things to do to pass the time. If the wait is horrific and all else fails, hit up a mobile order from Capt Cooks and share a laugh at how your evening plan went sideways. :-)
