Thoughts on Cars Land replacing Tom Sawyer Island at The MK

It’s not the earth we’ll miss, it’s the water, and they may have to drain it first thing before they can do much else. :(
But I do hope it gets pushed back to 2026. lol
Yes the water will be removed first and then filled with dirt to create the main construction area.

What BUGS me the most about all the major changes & construction that seems constant is that the disruption to guest experiences is being ignored. There's enough land to EXPAND to a 5th gate outside the current boundaries which would not interfere as much with immersion, etc. Instead it seems they are taking the cheaper path, destroying what should remain by creating new "lands" where they where they don't belong.

I agree expanding would be better than replacing, but not a 5th gate, just expand current parks. A 5th park is too much, you would start to lose revenue.

I think eventually there will be need for a fifth gate - but not yet. There is room to expand the parks, though I would prefer they do that into areas that don't have anything or are underutilized currently. Like, I wish the Monsters Inc. land was going in at Launch Bay/Animation Building, which really isn't much to speak of. Put something in the Wonders of Life pavillion or the empty Tomorrowland North building. That's what I find irritating. Of course, one could argue that Tom Sawyer Island is in fact underutilized, so I do get it. Still, I think they just ignore some low-hanging fruit sometimes.

I'll miss Liberty Belle. I enjoy the 'cruise' and seeing BTMRR from a different perspective. I bet if the Liberty Belle had seating, more people would ride her! I just hope that the attractions replacing LB and TSI are based on something other than screens, as I can't do those, they make me stupidly motion sick. TSM makes me queasy, Remy and 7DMT (swinging cars at the cottage scene) did me in for several hours. THere's no way I'd do any of the other screen rides, and that seems to be Disney's thing these days, so... Fingers crossed, I guess.

Disney got final approval from the State for permitting associated with the drainage and removal of TSI/Rivers of America. Disney could announce a closure at any point now.

Sad... but i spent almost 2 hours on the island last month, taking a bunch of pics, so i feel like i got my fill, but honestly there are probably millions of pics out there now that this is planned. lol

I plan on spending some time there next month.
When we went to WDW for our anniversary last year we did the capture your moment thing. I chose to have some pics done at the liberty belle because I knew her days were numbered.
