Getting a discounted AP with resale DVC

Not sure why the laughing emoji; it’s really a non issue for me as someone who has spent more time as resale only than not. No, I never tried to qualify, but if you did…well, then you did.🤷 I’m not Josh D’Amaro.

I know things are hard to take context and emotion during a post on a message board, so that's all it was.

As I stated earlier, it was member services that offered me the sorcerer's pass on their own choice and I didn't ask nor inquire.

Now, I did call to see if I could renew and again they said of course and renewed it.

So, not really "trying to qualify" etc.

So I just called Disney asking to get the discounted Sorcerer Pass as a DVC member (despite buying resale). They asked for my number and I had it within 5 minutes.

I was very excited... BUUUTTT I've now heard from multiple people that Disney will check at the gate when I first try to use it to confirm my eligibility.

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this, and what they did about it.

Thank you!
I have both direct and resale contracts. We bought the Sorcerer's APs. You have to go to a ticket office or guest services location to activate them before you can use them to enter the parks. When we went to activate them, they asked to see my DVC-Y membership card and driver's license before they would activate. It did not take long, but it seemed like they checked it both in my app and in their system because at first the lady looked skeptically at her screen, then asked to see my DVC membership card. I'm guessing she saw my resale contract first and wanted to confirm that I own direct before activating.

When we went to enter the park for the first time after activating, we just scanned in (and got the purple "Welcome Home!") and went on our way. So it seems they don't check anything at the gates because it's already verified by the activation at guest services.

If I were you, I would call Member Services or Ticketing or possibly both and ask these questions before you go try to activate. Don't just hope it works out because in my experience, the ticketing offices are pretty strict about their policies because they have to be.

I bought ap in May with DVC MS.

They told me all I need to do is scan in as well.

I already see the ap on my account and we will activate on our Oct trip.

Hopefully no issues. We own resale and direct.
If you own direct, you have nothing to worry about because they'll see the DVC-Y on your account at activation.
